Many of those improvements begin with suggestions posted right here, on the Community Wishlist. Is there a feature you really want on TVTropes? Post it.
Is there something we could be doing better? We want to know. Do you think we look fat in these pants? We were totally afraid of that. See a bug? Report it.
Important things to know:
- We're all about that content-creation life! The top contenders for our attention are ideas that'll create more content, like the video uploading feature, or speed up launching new pages. On the flip side, design or layout tweaks won't be our top priority.
- Help us dig through the goldmine of old wishlist items! If you have an old request gathering dust or spot one you're totally on board with, give it a bump and a like. There's a treasure trove of 6+ years' worth of ideas just waiting to be rediscovered. Items without enough love may not make the cut and will be closed.
- Was your wishlist item locked up without an explanation? It was most likely disapproved or just too big of a task versus the benefit it would ultimately have. Time is precious, and we want to focus on updates with the biggest bang for the buck. Don't be discouraged though! We appreciate every idea and we're always listening.
Since page creation is supposed to be vetted by using the Trope Launch Pad, I doubt adding a button for it fits current objectives.

Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.
Bumping. New tropers persistently ask How to Create a Work Page because there's no indication how to do that outside of that page, which someone has to link to the person asking.
Even then, manually editing the web address isn't a very nice way to get to the primary function of the website.
A simple form redirecting to article editor, with some policy FAQ for newbies, would help to streamline the process.

Though I do worry that it would lead to more pages in invalid namespaces. Learning how they work is currently a required part of page making.

People create pages in invalid namespaces all the time as well anyway. A create page form can help this by listing only valid namespaces.

Though sometimes tropes also count as namespaces when pages need to be split; I guess I'm just worried that the list of "valid" namespaces would either be way too short or far too open, since while there are only a few valid work namespaces, subpages work differently.

Well, the create page form can exclude "Main/" and would mention to look into TLP or select forums for that. For subpages there's already a "create new" button, which also has a wishlist somewhere that it could pull subpage namespaces for dynamic list.

I was talking more about pages like AvatarTheLastAirbender.Tropes A To H or CompanyCrossReferences.Wish 2023. The sort of stuff that would be out of place on a list yet remain entirely valid.
I see plenty of value in making the process easier, don't get me wrong. But if it becomes too simplified then a lot of specific cases will be made harder, and new tropers won't have the same incentives to learn how things like links work.

If someone needs specific pages like that, they can just ask, which they should do anyway because page splitting is a major edit that requires discussion. And I'd think if someone needs something unconventional, they've already been on the website for a while.

If the pages can still be created without the use of the tool, then sure, that's resolved. If the tool becomes the required way to make the pages though, then these niche situations would need to be accounted for.

On the wiki can we make a "Create Page" button? Taking an existing page's link and modifying it to make a new page doesn't really make sense and is a bit inefficient. A create page button would be so much easier and more functional.
