Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

I agree that They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot (and They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character) shouldn't be added to unreleased works. You're right that there don't seem to be any restrictions for how soon either of those tropes can be added to a work as of now, but I think that at the very least, they shouldn't be added to a work that's unreleased or still ongoing, since that character/plot may very well be utilized in the finished work.
Cold turkey's getting stale. Tonight I'm eating crow.I made a post on the "No Recent Examples" Thread about what the waiting period should be for the trope.
At the very least, the trope is being misused. They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot is for plots that are set-up, but are underdeveloped or have little payoff. The entry that was added was wishing the sequel used a different plot instead.
Since that trope requires a plot to be set up in the first place, I don't think it should be added to unreleased works since the plot points in the trailers might turn out different in the final product or not show up at all.
Edited by TroperNo9001 "I just want what everyone else has, that's all."The entry isn't really about a "plot" anyway, just a complaint about characters being Not Allowed to Grow Up.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I went ahead and removed it, citing this thread.

In YMMV.Despicable Me 4:
Is this an Edit War? Because while it doesn't follow the back-and-forth adding and removing of the same entry by two different tropers, They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot is not under No Recent Examples, Please!, so I'm not sure either if the entry should stay.
