Long time ago, there was an empire known as Zorn. Named after its founder and emperor, Zorn The Great, this empire was so powerful and feared, that nearly all the dimensions in The Multiverse knew about them and their conquests. For 10,000 years, this empire invaded and conquered many universes, civilizing any primitive cultures they met and extracting every resources they found, specially the Sen, "the essence of life"; but it also organizes a multi-dimensional tournament where the strongest free cultures bet their freedom with them in matches of Sendokai.

Sendokai is an ancient sport practiced by the Zorn and the many cultures of the Multiverse that consists of a contact variation of soccer: timed 4vs4 matches where the first team that hits 3 points wins. The main difference with soccer is that the players can use tactics and techniques using Sen to create solid-light constructs that boost abilities, hinder opponents and aid allies akin to Green Lantern powers mixed with martial arts. These features con be also used for warring purposes as the Zorn had shown before in their conquests.

As the Zorn conquered more and more universes, they set their eyes in a curious plane named the Gea Dimension (our universe), where the center of their civilization is a planet called Earth. There, four mysterious bracelets fell in hands of the ones who would later be the representatives of Earth in the next Sendokai Tournament. Ironically, as their coach and Sendokai master Tänpo the Waadan would discover, the multiverse's future champions would be a group of mere teenagers with no talent in sports whatsoever.

Sendokai Champions (Desafío Champions Sendokai in Spain) is a Spanish CGI Animation series co-produced by Kotoc, a Spanish CGI animation company, and RTVE, the state-owned independent entity that promotes content for public television and radio in Spain, where in 52 12-minute episodes, tells the story of a team of 4 friends: Zak, Cloe, Kiet and Fenzy, and their struggles against the Zorn in their way to the next Sendokai Tournament.

This show provides examples of:

  • Betty and Veronica: Season 2 has Cloe (the Archie) struggling to choose between Zak (Betty), her energetic and supportive childhood friend or Lon (Veronica), the New kid who looks like a jerk at first, but shows a caring side later on. she chooses Zack in the end.
  • The Bully: Ron & Rude, two of the Senkuns classmates, are this. They like to pick on them for their poor soccer skills, or just pick on them in general. Homever, they stop doing that after learning of their nature as sendokai warriors.
  • Calling Your Attacks: Constantly, to the point where there are only a few instances of techniques not being called before use.
  • Elemental Powers:
  • Fictional Sport: The Sen-Do-Kai is described as a cross between soccer, magic and martial arts.
  • From Zero to Hero: The Senkus started the series as just four kids who like to play soccer, but are terrible at it. After they find four mysterious bracelets, they become sendokai warriors with the mission to save the Earth. And after much training and development, they become the best in the universe.
  • The Mentor: Tänpo plays this role. He teaches the Senkuns Sendokai from scratch, and did it well enough that in less than a year they became the best in the multiverse.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Zak's suit and hair after transforming resemble Goku.
    • All suits after transformation have a bright geometry symbol in the chest, like Iron Man armors.
    • The Zorn Mooks, when targeting, have an HUD that uses the Triforce as aim.
    • Professor Sylius control monkeys with an Atari control.
  • Polar Opposite Twins: The Kronex Twins - one is black and other is white.
  • The Multiverse: Where most of the fiest season takes place. There are multiple dimensions with their respective populations, a fact that's common knowledge for almost all races except human.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: Zig-Zagged. Cloe has a tomboy haircut but she is the most Girly Girl in the team, while Fenzy has a Girly Girl haircut despite being the tomboy of the group.
  • World of Technicolor Hair: With the exception of Zack, who has an unusual but still believable orange hair, each of the original four main characters have hair colors that should be impossible in the real world. Zoe’s blue, Kiet’s green and Fenzy’s pink.
