Recap / Adventures Of The Gummi Bears S 1 E 18 Toadies Wild Ride

Go To

Toadwart gets catapulted into the woods, where he accidentally discovers Gummi Glen and starts snooping around.

Tropes:

  • Beware the Silly Ones: Normally, Toadie's the least threatening of all the ogres. But, here, he manages to get his hands on a whole keg of Gummiberry Juice, and he chugs the whole thing when surrounded by the Glen Gummis, vowing to "use the forest as a club!" to fight his way free. This results in the whole gang backing away in terror, especially once Zummi points out that they have no idea what drinking that much juice in one hit will do. Unfortunately for Toadie, it turns out the answer is "literally blow him back to Drekmore in a massive explosion".
  • Blatant Lies: Tummi claims that he didn't eat a cake meant for a picnic... while he has frosting on his nose!
  • Cassandra Truth: After Toadie is accidentally brought into Gummi Glen through the quick tunnels, Tummi is the first to spot him. He tries to tell the other Gummis about it, but they don't believe him largely because he used the ogre excuse to bluff his way out of admitting that he ate a cake meant for a picnic. This leads to Tummi spending much of the episode trying to catch Toadie on his own.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Toadwart steals a whole keg of Gummiberry Juice and drinks the entire contents at once, with rather explosive results. This could be a reference to what happens when a person becomes intoxicated.
  • Duck!: Gruffi shouts this when Toadie flings a fish at them. Tummi remarks, "That's not a duck, it's a fish," after getting hit in the face.
  • A Glass in the Hand: After guzzling a whole keg of Gummiberry Juice, Toadie crushes the keg in one hand to show off his increased strength whilst gloating that now he'll show the Glen Gummis a thing or two. Unfortunately for him, it turns out that drinking too much juice in one go has explosive results.
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": The Gummis do this as Toadwart guzzles down an entire keg of Gummiberry Juice singlehandedly, with Zummi warning there's no way of telling what might happen after someone drinks that much. Fortunately for them, all that happens is steam bursts from his ears, and he takes off like a rocket.
  • Tempting Fate: After getting lost in the woods, Toadie decides to stay in one place, vowing that "nothing is a-moving me from this spot." Cue the Gummi sleds from the quick-tunnels flinging him into Gummi Glen quite by accident.
  • You Have Failed Me: Non-fatal example; the episode's plot is kick-started when Toadie is exiled for losing the maps to Gummi Glen.
