Bonnie Francesca Wright (born 17 February 1991 in London, England) is a British actress.
She is best known for playing Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter films. Wright auditioned for the role because her brother said she reminded him of the character. Wright also provided Ginny's voice for the video game versions of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. After finishing the Harry Potter series, she went to the London College of Communication, and now owns a production company.
Wright starred in two television movies: 2002's Stranded and 2004's Agatha Christie: A Life in Pictures, where she played the younger version of Agatha Christie. She had a guest role on Disney's The Replacements voicing Vanessa in the season two premiere "London Calling". In 2013, she appeared in After the Dark, alongside fellow Harry Potter veteran Freddie Stroma.
Tropes that apply to Wright include:
- Mandatory Line: Often the extent of her role in the earlier Harry Potter films, before Ginny's Relationship Upgrade with Harry.
- Promotion to Opening Titles: Finally got to be listed in the main titles on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Even then, she still was billed behind Timothy Spall, who appears in the film for under a minute while Wright plays a way more central character.
- Yet Another Christmas Carol: She has appeared in two versions of the story, 2014's My Dad Is Scrooge and 2018's A Christmas Carol.
