Scan 2 Go is a Merchandise-Driven children's anime about people who play with toy race cars in the future with people throughout the galaxy. The titular cars stop at several pit stops throughout the race (just like the toys) and require a card to be "scanned" into a slot on the top of the car to "go". The English dub was licensed by Cookie Jar Entertainment and dubbed by The Ocean Group's Blue Water Studio.

Tropes represented on this show:

  • 2D Visuals, 3D Effects: Pretty much all the cars, vehicles, and robots are shaded in CGI.
  • Ambiguously Human: Zero looks human, but since Taiga is revealed to be his "brother", it is unknown if he is or not since he always wears a mask.
  • Berserk Button:
    • Don't tell Taiga he isn't better than his "brother" Zero.
    • Also, never put his friends in danger or insulted them in front of Shiro. Or insult him for being too serious.
  • Big Bad: Ryu Kaizel.
  • Catchphrase: Kaz's is "Faster than anyone!"
  • Evolving Credits: Once after Shiro joins the group, and once again after the group arrives on Earth.
  • Fun with Acronyms: The "JET" in Team JET stands for "Junior Earth Team".
  • Good Angel, Bad Angel: Happens in "Race Kingdom". When King Kraken struggles with whether to win the kingdom race or not. His shoulder angel tells him not to use the powers of the royal family, and if he does the throne will be embarrassed. And his shoulder devil replies to the shoulder angel that there's nothing wrong with using the powers. If he doesn't use the powers of the royal family, he'll start planning his retirement party. During the race, his shoulder devil appears again and tells him to focus on the race until he gets to the finish line, later Kraken awakes from his daydream after Kaz Gordon angrily yells.
  • Human Aliens:
    • Dradd and his team resemble humans, except for their different-colored hair.
    • Ryu also counts since he has cosmic powers and can survive in space.
  • Ki Manipulation: In the anime, Ryu (the main antagonist right now) can shoot fire, charge an energy attack with his car that rams into the opponent, and much more. He can also create stadiums out of magma and can go into people's minds. He used the mind-reading thing on Shiro.
  • Merchandise-Driven: It's one of those shows that features realistic (at least visually) depictions of the product it's designed to sell, like Yu-Gi-Oh! (in the Japanese version, anyway), and Beyblade. It's even dubbed by the same company, Nelvana, who recently dubbed the anime of several of our most popular incarnations of this trope.
  • Serious Business: In Scan 2 Go, the toy cars are still toy cars, but space travelers play the game, and the cars are treated as if they're sentient and have spirit.
  • Team Pet: System PEL and Tsukikage.
  • The Faceless: Zero is always seen wearing a mask, so his face has not been revealed.
  • The Stoic: Shiro
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: Even though he looks human, Shiro is actually a Wolfgar, a race of werewolf-like aliens that isolate themselves from other races to keep their true forms under control.
