** The rooms sprites often looks disproportionately bigger than the penguins themselves, particularly in the older art style. However, in the newspaper and in PSA missions, the rooms' assets and props are shown to be much more proportional to the penguins.

''Club Penguin'' was a browser-based {{MMORPG}}. Launched in 2005 and bought out by Creator/{{Disney}} in 2007, it centered on users' personal penguin avatars, and their little lives. The game was somewhere in between a social network and a life simulation. Players could chat with other people, buy and care for a pet, buy clothes, buy and furnish your igloo, and even change the color of your little penguin avatar. All of this was paid for by little minigames you could play. Some games were competitions with other penguins, while some were solo games. However, most of the interesting things you could buy, you could get [[AllegedlyFreeGame only if you paid for your account]].

** In the same year, a new EPF Handbook was released, containing information about all of the agency's current members, and also including a mysterious, anonymous member who was heavily implied to be Franky. This storyline ended up being forgotten as it didn't really fit well with any of the other plots that were going on the game at that time, and most of the player base showed little interest about it.

* ArtEvolution: The game's art style has definitely changed a lot throughout the years, which gets pretty funny when the newer clothing and items don't jell very well with the old ones, comparing the early items to the later ones is like night and day! The 2011 and 2013 design overhauls are the most obvious.

* RacingMinigame:
** Sled Racing, which can be played on four courses at the Ski Hill: Ridge Run, Penguin Run, Express and Bunny Hill (in order from the longest and hardest, to the shortest and easiest). The penguins have to slide down the hill while dodging obstacles, going up ramps, and touching ice slides to get a small boost.
** Card-Jitsu Water qualifies as one as well. The ninjas have to jump on several tiles in the waterfall and choose a corresponding card to remove the elements from each tile (for example, if there's fire in a tile, the player must use a water card). The first one to succesfully complete the race reaches the gong.

%% * ThoseTwoGuys: A couple In the earlier years of the game, there was a recurring duo of penguins named Bernie (a dark blue penguin with a yellow scarf) and Iggy (a brown penguin with a yellow hard hat and a red shirt), which were always seen together. They appeared in one of multiple newspaper comics, and also make a small appearance in PSA Mission 6 witnessing Klutzy run away to the PSA missions.Ski Lift.

* UnskippableCutscene: In "Catchin' Waves", there is a small cutscene in the start of the game showing a lifeguard flying with a jetpack, pulling your penguin out of the ground and then dropping them onto the water. When your penguin drowns, there is a similar animation where the same lifeguard pulls the penguin off the water and then onto it again. While the former cutscene can be skipped, the latter cannot.

** Every once in a while, the official blog had a poll named ''You Decide'', where three options for the appearance of an item (could be clothing, furniture,
backgrounds and pins) were presented, and the players had to comment which option they wanted to make it into the game. In a few cases, some of the rejected options ended up being included in the game as well a while later.

* IdleAnimation: Both the original ''Club Penguin'' app and ''Club Penguin Island'' had varied animations that the penguins did automatically after standing still for a while. * AudienceParticipation:
** The Festival of Snow from 2007, 2009 and 2015 had players submitting their drawings to be showcased in the form of snow sculptures around the island.

* BarefootCartoonAnimal: Many of the penguins do not wear shoes, especially if they are non-members, as those have few feet items available for them. * EarlyInstallmentWeirdness:
** In the first few weeks of the game during Beta Testing, igloos looked like empty white holes, just like they did in the game's predecessor ''Penguin Chat 3''.
** Also in the beginning of Beta Testing, non-members couldn't change their own color, and couldn't have any igloo ''at all'' (not even the small Basic Igloo that they got eventually. They just had no igloos whatsoever).
** The Night Club used to have different music, until it was changed around mid-2006.
** Originally, all of the rooms were originally bitmap images instead of vector assets. This meant they had lower quality and any doors or party decorations were a ConspicuouslyLightPatch because they were already in vector, so their quality was better. Also, the sky looked slightly darker on the exterior rooms.
** Igloos only started having a background in 2008 (and more options were added in 2012). Before that, they were simply seen in an empty white void.
** Before the Ski Hill was opened, Sled Racing used to be playable from the Ski Village, at the same spot the Ski Hill would later be accessible from.
** Puffle Roundup was, by far, the mini-game that changed locations the most times, due to rooms repeatedly being added on the places it originally was in. When it was first added, it was originally located at the right of the Snow Forts. After the Plaza was added in 2006, the game was moved to the right of that room for a while, until the Pet Shop was added, after which it was playable from a door at the right that room. This stayed for eight years, until the Puffle Park was added in 2014, being accessible from that same door, and Puffle Roundup was moved to there too.
** Before 2007, the open-mouthed smiling emoticon used to look slightly different, and the skull emoticon seen in the Ignore List could be used by players.
** Prior to the addition of stamps in July 2010, none of the mini-games had levels restricted for members-only.
