*** Best Jeanist points out that at this point, any hero could just give up and none of the rest could blame them. It's easy to talk about being selfless, but it's much, much harder to do when the entire world hates you either way. Death Arms is among those who at least ''tried'' to persevere than others, but there is no telling who else followed suit instead of quiting instantly.

*** Tellingly, during the fight, Midoriya loses his mask. While it seems rather innocuous at first compared to everything else, it's actually quite [[RuleOfSymbolism symbolic as it represents Midoriya's mask of the intimidating vigilante being stripped away to reveal what he truly is underneath:]] A frightened, traumatized boy who's had the weight of the world suddenly thrust upon his shoulders and finds himself crushed underneath the sheer weight of his newfound responsibility.

** Uraraka continues her impassioned plea to let Midoriya stay at U.A. During this, she outright tells the public that the heroes are just as afraid as they are, which cuts to the real tearjerker. The public has spent so long viewing the heroes as these infallible gods and now that the heroes have failed to protect them, they have completely lost faith in them, forgetting that they are just as human as the rest of them.

** The chapter throws a bit of sympathy towards All For One of all people. After Deku calls out AFO for being a lonely old man, AFO is shown alone in the void of the vestige realm with the last of Yoichi's embers fading away. AFO desperately demands to see his brother's face showcasing that, in his own twisted way, he truly did love his brother. It is ironically the only time AFO develops any hint of CharacterDevelopment as well but, because of his inexcusable actions, it was much too late.
** Shigaraki assists in putting down AFO for good before dying. Other than Deku, Shigaraki would only be remembered as a monstrous threat to the world.

** After All For One deflects All Might's last ditch attempt to deage him, he hoists the pro hero above his head and clearly intends to rip a helpless All Might in two in front of a horrified Izuku, clearly relishing in the thought of causing Izuku unspeakable emotional agony with the horrifying death of his mentor. Not only is Izuku forced to watch with Shigaraki making sure to keep him from interfering, the live feed of the final fight shows [[Anime/MyHeroAcademiaTwoHeroes Melissa]] crying out for her HonoraryUncle, and [[TheMentor Gran Torino]] likewise tearing up at the sight of his former student about to be killed, with other various citizens tearing up or apathetically turning off the news once it's clear that All Might has lost. Had it not been for [[BigDamnHeroes Bakugou making himself known at UA]], this would have been the DarkestHour.

** Its implied that AFO was born intelligent enough to recognize that his deceased mother wasn't giving him any attention or care and that everything he's done since then is some way of compensating for this. If she'd only stayed alive for even a few seconds...

General clarification on work content

Added DiffLines:

*** The flashback to their childhood shows Yoichi wearing normal clothes, complete with actual shoes, while AFO is barefoot and wearing what appears to be a ''garbage bag'' as a tunic, implying that AFO genuinely prioritized Yoichi's wellbeing over his own at one point.

** Making it even sadder is that Deku had sacrificed his Quirk in attempt to save Shigaraki's inner Tenko, which he unfortunately failed to do, meaning he had given up One For All for nothing.

* Chapter 386: In the heat of everything, as Iida and Todoroki are making their way to stop Dabi, and All Might is preparing to hold off All For One, a single shot could be seen of Hawks solemnly hugging Tokoyami's injured body, the former having apparently dragged himself over to his student if the trail of blood on the ground is any indication. After expressing ''immediate'' fear of Tokoyami dying to All For One the moment he saw his student on the battlefield, despite all of Hawks' efforts to protect him, having [[TakingTheBullet shielded the young boy so many times]], and even having his Quirk taken in his desperate attempt to keep AFO away from him, he still wasn't able to protect his student in the end. The lack of confirmation of whether or not Tokoyami will actually survive the injuries he sustained only makes the shot more heartbreaking...
