* ''Series/Shogun2024'': Lord Yoshii Toranaga is a brilliant, ever-composed schemer who bends all of Japan to his will through cunning, charm and sheer determination. Once a loyal retainer to the ''taikō'', Toranaga sensed the coming treachery of his fellow Regents and acted accordingly, taking Lady Ochiba and her son the heir hostage as "guests" to stall the Regents' coup. Escaping the Regents' immediate grasp with a deceitful ploy, Toranaga uses spies and his knowledge of the Regents' allies to spread dissension amidst his foes. Though he initially planned for war, Toranaga wastes little time in concocting a more subtle method of victory when his army is lost in a freak accident. Toranaga uses the friendship of Mariko and Lady Ochiba to drive a wedge between Ochiba and the Regents, having Mariko sacrifice her life to show the Regents for the cruel tyrants they are so that Ochiba will publicly turn against them. Without the backing of Ochiba, the Regents fall to Toranaga in short order, and Toranaga makes his move to begin taking power in Japan. Exposing and eliminating all threats to him with ease while regularly using Englishman John Blackthorne as a tool against his enemies, Toranaga succeeds in his goal to become the titular Shōgun, unmoved by the many lives it cost.

** "Ghosts of the Past": The Winter Soldier, Captain America's former partner Bucky Barnes, returns seeking revenge on HYDRA and the Red Skull for his torture at their hands, uncaring that the latter could provide important information for stopping Thanos. Expertly infiltrating Avengers Tower and incapacitating the heroes, Bucky hijacks their jet to lead them on a wild goose chase while he escapes with the Skull, later damaging train tracks to distract the Avengers when Steve catches up to him. Proceeding to stash Red Skull in a missile aimed at the HYDRA base where he was tortured, Bucky sets off several other missiles to keep the Avengers occupied while he personally duels Steve, stalling long enough before his escape that Steve seemingly has no time to both stop the missile and save the Skull. A tragic FallenHero, Bucky begrudgingly gives up his vendetta at his old partner's pleading, not letting his past twist him into an enduring villain.

* Spider Man
** Seasons 3 & 4: Richard Fisk is the equally devious son of the Kingpin, introduced in his father's scheme to frame Peter Parker for their data theft operation. Once Peter is accused, Richard has the Chameleon pose as Spider-Man to "rescue" him, making him look even more guilty while plunging Spider-Man's reputation into the gutter. Though Peter escapes, Richard again employs Chameleon to recapture him when he visits an infirm Aunt May, and uses his father's federal mole to intercept incriminating evidence; even when Richard's second attempt to tie off loose ends is foiled, he still succeeds in handing the evidence off to the Chameleon. In jail, Richard identifies useful allies for his father such as Hobie Brown and Tombstone. When the latter requests revenge on Robbie Robertson, Richard collaborates with his father to see Robbie imprisoned, before attempting to use Spider-Man's break-in to save his friend as a distraction for their escape.

** "The Might of Doom" & "Doomsday": Doctor Doom himself is the brilliant despot of Latveria, a megalomaniac who has already forged his own battle armor far more advanced than anything in Tony Stark's arsenal save one minor detail--a disadvantage he intends to rectify no matter the cost. Brought to New York by Obadiah Stane to upgrade the Iron Monger core, Doom immediately deduces and defeats Tony's efforts to spy on them while attempting to claim his armor, easily shrugging off anything Iron Man or War Machine throw at him. Doom sabotages the Monger core to create a massive bomb capable of wiping out New York to eliminate all his competition, evading justice through his diplomatic immunity once Tony just barely contains the blast. Later claiming the ninth Makluan Ring and unlocking its powers, Doom tricks and traps Iron Man and the Mandarin to offer their souls to a demon in exchange for his family. Ultimately only beaten by the quick-thinking of the below-notice Howard Stark, Doom stands tall as one of the most terrifyingly competent villains Iron Man ever fought.

Spared by Luna after her defeat, she pays her back by putting out the fires caused by Hypnosis' attack, before helping the heroes defeat Khaos, her unpredictable nature proving crucial to getting past Laplace's Demon. To delay his fellow Ancestors, he set up the elemental barrier to weaken Reviel, and helped Ristill gather more strength while he made preparations, all while observing Reviel's growth. Once Ristill is defeated, Khaos opens a wormhole to allow Devils to enter Algiz, reveals Reviel and Luna's vampiric nature to all the villagers to show them the folly of hiding it, and exposes his plan before giving Reviel and Ristill one chance to stop him. Awaiting them in his own pocket dimension, he ambushes Ristill, recognising her as the greater threat to his plan, in an attack that she only survives due to Idith's intervention. When confronted by the heroes, he turns the tables with the [[CombatClairvoyance Laplace's Demon]] spell that is only counteracted with Ristill's sudden appearance. Accepting that his story will never have a happy ending, Khaos bids his friends a heartfelt farewell and implores and enables Shylphiel to live before [[DrivenToSuicide throwing himself off his island]], gracefully acknowledging his failure with a smile.
