Confronting them for one final battle in his own world, Q*bert uses the arcade machine to [[BrainwashedAndCrazy mind control]] the arcade game protagonists into fighting for him, before defeating the Stick Gang himself once cornered. Once Yellow manages to finally beat him, it's revealed Q*bert was just [[EvenEvilHasLovedOnes trying to provide food for his children]], and then proceeds to [[HeelFaceTurn change for the better]] once Yellow promises to help him, ending the episode with a new group of friends.

Once Lyle dies, Loopty, overjoyed, thanks them for reuniting them, having lied about his motive; in truth, he simply wanted to see his best friend again, and is content to be reunited in Hell with him.

* Manga/DNAngel: [[GentlemanThief Dark Mousy]], alternate form of Daisuke, is a legendary thief, stealing to save the world. One half of the spirit of the Black Wings curse, Dark merged with the Niwa bloodline when their ancestor tried stealing the Black Wings during a ritual. One with the Niwas, Dark would emerge in every male descendant, fulfilling his role as thief and protector of the world. Emerging from Daisuke after his rejection, Dark continued to fantastical heist, establishing his legacy further unafraid of using others as bait, or stealing from innocents, even fighting if needed. Given the chance to end the Black Wings curse, Dark used clever tricky and will power to end Krad and the curse, [[HeroicSacrifice sacrificing himself to prevent the city from being destroyed]].

Using unorthodox strategies like hiding himself in carts, setting up enemies for ambushes, and using tactics to let him defeat his enemies in public such as stabbing himself to set up a circus act, Sugimoto ultimately proves smart enough to track down the gold and to evade his pursuers, ending the story by retiring alongside his child companion Asirpa to live a happy life.
** [[PureIsNotGood Wilk]] is an Ainu man responsible for the assassination of a Russian czar. Using utterly vicious tactics such as killing one of his own comrades to help the others escape, Wilk hides away and decides to raise his daughter Asirpa as a ChildSoldier that will someday carry on his cause. After being caught in a tight situation while escorting a convoy of gold, Wilk wins a narrow fight and carves off his own face, faking his death and using his time in the Abashiri Prison to tattoo a map to the gold on the convicts' backs, his work eventually letting others find it in the hopes that they can carry on his revolution.
** [[VisionaryVillain Toshizou Hijikata]] is the former Vice-Commander of the Shinsengumi and a strategic veteran. Aiming to create his Republic of Ezo, a separate state for Japan's undesirables to live in peace away from their oppressors. To this end, Hijikata spends years pretending to be a model prisoner in the Abashiri Prison before killing his guards, escaping, reforming a group of strong fighters, and beginning a hunt for the gold. Willing to work with anyone, Hijikata proves to be both a tactical genius and a keen judge of character when he arranges a break-in to Abashiri Prison while also deducing Kiroranke's dubious loyalties. Determined to the end, Hijikata ultimately aids Sugimoto in finding the gold before [[HeroicSacrifice giving his life]] to defend Sugimoto, even passing the younger man [[TakeUpMySword his own blade]] for the final battle.
** [[WellIntentionedExtremist Kiroranke]] is Wilk's former comrade and a master analyst. Joining Sugimoto's group under the guise of aiding him, Kiroranke in reality works to find the Ainu gold in the hopes of starting a war to liberate the Ainu people from the oppression of the Japanese government. Having used improvised explosives to turn the tide of a battle in the war, Kiroranke is a master of traps and ambushes who uses his analytical knowledge to separate the party during the Abashiri break-in so that he can successfully aid his ally in killing Wilk and silencing him, stating it's what the Wilk he knew would've wanted, before abducting Asirpa, laying out an ambush for Sugimoto's party when they pursue him, and [[AlasPoorVillain dying quietly after praising Asirpa and telling her to live a happy life and leave him to die]].
** [[GeniusBruiser Boutarou the Pirate]], born Fusatarou Oosawa, is a wickedly smart SerialKiller and robber who killed many people for their goods after his family died of disease, swearing never to be ostracized again. Vowing to create a paradise where he will rule as king, have children, and carry on a legacy, Boutarou joins Sugimoto's group after seeing his friend Shiraishi and uses his knowledge and skills to guide Sugimoto's party in their journey to find the Ainu gold so he can purchase land to build his nation. Using his awareness of improbable details like logging techniques, Boutarou manages to be a valued member of the group before rushing in to rescue Sugimoto and Asirpa, then bringing a car to pursue Asirpa's kidnappers with, taking his injuries in stride and [[FaceDeathWithDignity dying while earnestly asking Shiraishi to remember him and tell his own children of him]].

When Themistocles refuses, the next day Artemisia orders her men to pour oil in the sea while she shoots a fire toward Themistocles' armada, decimating his forces and nearly killing him. Learning of Themistocles' survival and battling him once more, Artemisia only loses to him due to the sudden reinforcements from Sparta and Xerxes' cowardly decision to abandon her, while she [[DefiantToTheEnd rejects Themistocles' mercy and charges at him declaring that she's ready to face death]].

* ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsResistance'' "The Engineer": Nenavakasa "Nena" Nalor is a charming saboteur hired by the First Order to track down and infiltrate the Colossus. Tracking the Colossus for days before sending a fake distress signal to be brought on board, Nena quickly sabotages the station's systems under the guise of fixing them so the would be defenseless when the First Order attacks, while genuinely befriending Neeku, almost confessing truth to him. She frames pirates for stealing energy from the station to buy herself time before being found out and offering Neeku a partnership. Rejected, she remorsefully escapes with her payment, hoping that Neeku will figure how to save the station from what she told him.

Throughout the Enclave's war in the Commonwealth, Whitehill favors tactics that reduces the casualties of Enclave soldiers. Upon finding out General Ward and Senator Matthews plans to wipe out all "mutated" humanity with the Forced Evolutionary Virus, Whitehill tasks the Sole Survivor in helping to prepare a coup against them. If the Sole Survivor assists Whitehill in assassinating the Enclave leadership, Whitehill will assume control of the Enclave; keeping Dr. Kane alive despite her role in the FEV as a means to create weapons that will reduce Enclave casualities as they seek to re-create a new America under their vision.

Even when caught in a trap by Budd, Bill's brother, the Bride claws her way out of a buried coffin and walks barefoot through the desert back to his trailer to pluck the remaining eye from her hated rival Elle Driver. Starting her career at age eleven by avenging her parents' death at the hands of yakuza, O-Ren went on to be one of the world's most dangerous women. After leaving Bill's employ following the wedding massacre, O-Ren travelled to Japan, conquering the criminal underworld and [[AsskickingLeadsToLeadership rising to the top of the yakuza]], feared and respected by the bosses of the families. Confronted by the Bride, O-Ren sends her underlings to fight her before engaging her in single combat, [[VillainousRespect admitting respect for her opponent]] as the fight closes. The most successful of Bill's former associates, O-Ren is one of the Bride's toughest fights.

Karen disguises herself as a hospitality manager at the Bride's hotel to get her guard down, and nearly kills her with a surprise blast of her shotgun. Blocking a thrown dagger with the butt of her weapon, Karen reaches a standoff with her target, and learns that she is pregnant. [[EvenEvilHasStandards Proving to have some humanity]], Karen calls off the hit and leaves with a final congratulations.

A dashing rogue with a heart of gold underneath his duplicitous methods, a vision of the future even shows that he will one day join the X-Men, putting his skills to use on the side of justice.
* ''VideoGame/XMenLegends'': Erik Magnus Lehnsherr, Magneto, prides himself on being the ultimate protector of all mutantkind, regardless of the extreme methods he takes. Scheming his escape from captivity alongside his Brotherhood, Magneto steals a variety of military technologies while exposing the heinous hate crimes committed by General Kincaid. Magneto plans to use Asteroid M to blot out the sun, threatening to keep Earth in darkness until humanity grants mutants their own sovereign nation. Though beaten by the X-Men, Magneto returns in the sequel, where he teams up with the X-Men to stop the greater threat of Apocalypse, using his powers and intelligence to help the heroes gain victory. Upon Apocalypse's defeat, Magneto parts ways with the X-Men peacefully, but promises to never end his ruthless quest to bring mutant acceptance by force.

Later brought in to face Godzilla, Kong proves a WorthyOpponent for the Titan Alpha, resorting to his wits in the face of Godzilla's overwhelming might and utilizing an ax from materials in the Hollow Earth to counter Godzilla's atomic breath. Kong is the one to destroy Mechagodzilla himself, wielding his empowered ax and his own might, before making peace with Godzilla and [[ButNowIMustGo returning to the Hollow Earth in peace]]. [[Film/GodzillaXKongTheNewEmpire Delving deeper into Hollow Earth in search of his people]], Kong bonds with the young ape Suko before confronting the tyrannical Skar King. Injured by the King's abused pet Shimo, Kong uses various traps to defeat the Skar King's minions before teaming up with Godzilla, Mothra, and Suko to stop the King's conquest of the surface. With the help of his allies Kong is able to free Shimo from the Skar King's control and kill him before taking his place as king of the Apes with Shimo and Suko by his side.
* ''VideoGame/UrbanReign'': [[DragonLady Shun-Ying]], Chinatown's head, is the mission control and operator of Green Harbor, keeping it safe with ruthless efficiency. Taking over after his brother's exile, Shun-Ying overcame Dwight after being framed for his member's kidnapping, quelling his rebellion. Finding the kidnappers, she form the counterunit to their riot, being a step ahead [[TheStrategist using psychological and guerilla tactics]], putting potential defectors in danger to lure them to her side and [[MakeAnExampleOfThem making enemy leaders as examples]]. Defeating the Triads and Yakuza led by Lin Fong, Shun-Ying had Brad Hawk stop Mayor Bordin, showing his corruption, taking over as Green Harbor's [[MysteriousProtector secret protector]].
* ''VisualNovel/LongLiveTheQueen'' fanfic ''Fanfic/HeavyIsTheCrown'': Talarist, Duke of Sedna, proves himself [[AdaptationalBadass a lot more resourceful]] than his canon counterpart. When his fiancée Princess Elodie is deposed by her own subjects in a vote of no confidence during a gala, Talarist reveals that he has brought with him an entire battalion of well-trained Talassian soldiers in the guise of ordinary servants. Gathering together a group of wanna-bes for his actors and illegal Mexican immigrants for his crew, he follows A-list actor Kit Ramsay around filming him in secret and editing the film around his footage. Unaware that his actions are triggering Kit's ParanoiaFuel about aliens being real, Kit's mentors at [[ChurchOfHappyology Mindhead]] realize what's happening and bust Bowfinger as he films the final scenes. Bowfinger bounces back with secret footage of Kit flashing himself to the Laker Girls, blackmailing Mindhead and Kit into cooperating.
