* The novel ''Literature/InCountry'' - as well as the 1989 movie version directed by Creator/NormanJewison and starring Creator/BruceWillis and Creator/JoanAllen - climaxes with Sam, her Uncle Emmett, and her grandmother visiting the Vietnam War memorial, since Emmet fought in the war (and has been a ShellShockedVeteran), and her father died in the war before she even knew him.
