I'm not sure whether I Have This Friend is the right trope here - it's about discussing your own problem and framing it as a friend's problem, the friend being imaginary.

You Are Better Than You Think You Are for the general intent of trying to raise someone else's self-esteem with a speech.
Do we have a trope for when two people are chatting (Alice and Bob), Bob is being very self-deprecating, and Alice uses "I Have This Friend" to tell Bob to not insult himself?
