- Fake American: The Irish Colin Farrell uses an American accent to portray John Sugar.
- Serendipity Writes the Plot: The intercutting of classic film clips wasn't part of Mark Protosevich's vision for the show. It came about because director Fernando Meirelles and editor Fernando Stutz weren't familiar with Film Noir, so Protosevich gave them a list of films to watch and study. The two did in minute detail and certain shots popped into Meirelle and Stutz's brains as they were cutting episodes together, so they suggested including them as a way of reinforcing Sugar's love of classic films.
