All of those are Zero-Context Examples. And it's not so much that those characters are from a children's show, it's that all three of them are aged 10 at most, so the implications are far more disturbing. I vote against restoring them.
Well, the first subbullet is a ZCE, if nothing else.
The second one, though, seems to imply some aging up so i could see that one standing as long as it focused on adult Dee Dee
My troper wallIt might be creepy, but it won't be the first time fandoms have done creepy things and we're not here to right great wrongs, just trope. I agree that the first sub-bullet is a ZCE and shouldn't be restored without expansion, but the second example seems like it passes the Clear, Concise, Witty test and so should be restored.
The voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the groundAye, context issues are one thing but we don't police or whitewash fandoms. We just state the facts.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessYeah, that’s what I was thinking, we just state what fandoms think regardless if it’s creepy or not.
If the first bullet is accurate, we should rewrite it to have more context.
In honor of Akira ToriyamaOk, I’m just going to put this in a new reply, but I looked a bit through their edit history and found that this wasn’t a stand alone incident. They deleted this with the same edit reason as the DL edit. As well as this with the edit reason "Ewww". They also edit out entries about shipping characters who are different in age. In isolation isn’t an issue, but all of these seem like a red flag to me.
Edited by LarryT In honor of Akira ToriyamaShould I PM them, and then have their problematic edits rolled back?
In honor of Akira ToriyamaMy post pinged them, but you can do a PM if you want.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure Pureness^ ok, I will send them a PM if they don’t respond.
In honor of Akira ToriyamaI think part of the point of Self-Fanservice is that fans will sort of visually "age up" characters, but a lot of artists who do that are also kids, or rather teenagers. Making an entry about it isn't condoning as long as we don't talk about Rule 34 (or anything else that's outright perverted as opposed to making the characters look prettier) or gush about character's bodies ourselves. Though I'm sure there are some entries that may go too far.
Off the top of my head, for example, a lot of fanartists give Dexter straighter hair and more chiseled features a la his FusionFall design, which fits the trope but isn't about sexual attraction at all.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.I PM’d them a few hours ago but they haven’t gotten back to me yet, would it be okay if I reverted the problematic edits?
In honor of Akira ToriyamaNo objections.
On YMMV.Dexters Laboratory Walt K removed this entry
they removed it with the edit reason "inappropriate" (presumably meaning "sexualizing characters from a children’s series is inappropriate")
Whether you agree with them or not, YMMV is just troping Audience Reactions, and we’ve had other Self-Fanservice entries from kids shows. Even if it is "inappropriate" we’re just troping what fans believe. Is this ok, or should I add it back?
