Given that original comic and cartoon didn't had a bovine character as member of the main cast, it could be possible that this bull is CanonForeigner created solely for the movie. The reason why Orson, Wade, Roy and the rest of farm crew aren't with him helping Garfield get to the train is because they didn't get along with Garfield after he landed in their farm (referencing their rivalry during Garfield And Friends theme song).
* If the movie ends up being the success, the bull will become CanonImmigrant as new member of the U.S. Acres main cast, similar to how Lola Bunny becomed new member of the main Looney Tunes cast after premiere of Film/SpaceJam.

WMG: Vic will eventually have a DaddyHadAGoodReasonForAbandoningYou moment.
Vic's wife and the rest of her family came under attack by the Claws, a rival group of mousers, who were trying to force the family out of their area so the Claws could take it over. Vic was told to take their newborn son (the future Garfield) and get him somewhere safe, and he did, but then left the kitten in a crate across from the Italian restaurant and went back to try and help the family. By the time matters were settled and he got back to the crate, Garfield had met and been adopted by Jon, but Vic never realized this and has been on his own ever since, either exiling himself from the family for his failure or being kicked out by his father-in-law for losing his son. He eventually admits the truth to Garfield, who forgives him.

In one scene of the second trailer, you can see that she's controlling drones carrying pizza boxes and end of the trailer (barring the scene after movie's title) is set in food factory where she orders Garfield to be thrown into pit, which could mean that said factory belongs to her and Vic messed with her by breaking into it to steal food (given that first trailer showed that he's BigEater just like his son Garfield).

WMG: In a twist to the above theory, that fat female cat is actually Nermal's mother.
Which could explain why Nermal acts like a jerkass towards Garfield and Odie - Vic kickstarted the feud between their families by messing with his mother, and now Nermal is continuing it by making Garfield's life miserable.

In the lead-up to the sequence where Garfield is flung around the forest after being kicked off the train by Vic, Garfield does the standard gag of kicking Odie off of something -- most likely a stack of hay. Vic would see this and decide to give Garfield a taste of his own medicine, which would also explain why he says "You think he would've seen that coming" to Odie.

It seems a prominent theme in the movie will be contrast between how good of a cat-dad Jon is to Garfield versus how lousy of a biological dad Vic is, so it would make both logical and thematic sense if he had a name his parent(s) gave him that he doesn't remember and/or doesn't acknowledge in favor of his adoptive one.

Though given Garfield is narrating the film, it will be treated as significantly less important than his own story and brushed off as a CutawayGag. Predictably, it will ignore Lyman's existence.

I say this cause except in the final bit, we never see him in the scenes with Vic which makes me believe that Jon will go missing. This could also explain why Garfield and Odie are on a train with Street cat: to find Jon! And the synopsis does say it involves a hilarious yet high stakes heist, so it would match up!
