- Hilarious in Hindsight: Kofi Kingston was fighting Ricky Steamboat as the top technical babyface of the game. Then, in 2015, he and The New Day turned heel.
- For many, the Dark Is Evil Drew McIntyre was considered a strange choice to face off against Ax-Crazy trash-talker Roddy Piper, as the only two things that connected them was the fact they were Scottish. Come 2024, and Drew had gotten wildly praised for his promo ability and trash-talking, making this match-up far more fitting nowadays.
- Spiritual Successor: It was developed by most of the team responsible for the TNA Impact game, led by Sal DiVita (who worked on 1995's WrestleMania: The Arcade Game) and Word of God says they were inspired by previous games like WWF No Mercy.
