The green character: I'M STUCK.
IRRELEVATOR is a webcomic about three men stuck in an elevator that gradually escalates from just being stuck in an elevator to all sorts of bizarre things that have nothing to do with elevators. It is a Stick-Figure Comic that is partially animated and drawn in MS Paint. Even though they are individual strips which some seem to have no connection and things that happen are inexplicably undone in canon there is continuity that you need to get, so read the whole thing in order.
IRRELEVATOR contains examples of:
- A God Am I: The green character when he starts the elevator music religion◊. Again when he gets◊ a◊ halo◊.
- Amazing Technicolor Population: Irrelevator could've gotten away with this since they are stickmen, but this comic proved otherwise.◊
- Art Shift: When zooming out, and when tripping the animation changed too. But mainly when we saw an x-ray of the green one.
- Babies Make Everything Better: There's no other reason a baby character would just be added out of the blue. It's just better that way.
- Cloud Cuckoolander: The green one is this, mostly comes in the form of being oblivious.
- Color-Coded Characters: Green, Red and Blue, apart from colors they have only one thing different about their appearences. (Hair, Cap, Glasses)
- Doorstop Baby: Not a doorstop really, they just found a baby in a neighbouring elevator.◊
- Elevator Failure: This comic is based on this, well this and bizarre things happening at the same time.
- Endless Corridor: Here◊ they walk an endless staircase.
- The Finicky One: The blue character is this.
- Functional Addict: The green stickman is this, but it's difficult to tell how functional he is since he doesn't know what meth was or if he's god or not.
- Freudian Trio: Green is Id, Red is Ego and Blue is Superego.
- Friction Burn: Happens to the Red guy. ◊
- Hippie Jesus: Somewhat Subverted here, the green character has a the look, with peace symbol on his shirt does drugs and is laid back. But is not a prime example◊ of spreading love and understanding.
- Looks Like Jesus: The green stick figure who looks◊ a lot◊ like Jesus.◊
- Lost Food Grievance: Seen here◊, this is against all etiquette when stuck on an island, or elevator.
- Medium Awareness: Since comic one, panel three.
- Montage: Poop montage◊, to be more specific.
- Mundane Luxury: In comic 12◊ this happens with the red one. Being stuck in an elevator does this to you.
- Nameless Narrative: They refer to the pink baby as baby once, otherwise they never directly address someone.
- No Name Given: As mentioned above, we never hear their names.◊
- Opaque Nerd Glasses: The blue one has this, you can't see his eyes despite the fact that his eyes should be taller than his glasses. Best example of it is here.◊
- Parody: There's a 'the Doctor' who comes and goes in various incarnations from time to time. Later Irrelevator also has an arc where historic personalities wake up in the elevator and are parodied.
- The Perfectionist: As seen in comic 3, the blue stickman counts every second of being stuck in the elevator and freaks out when he loses count; "WHAT YEAR IS IT?!"
- Resurrective Immortality: The characters die sometimes, but not for long.
- Scary Shiny Glasses: The more you're plotting, the more your glasses shine.◊
- Shout-Out: To Gunnerkrigg Court in comic 26.◊
- Silly Walk: Seen here.◊
- Smart People Wear Glasses: The blue character has this as his only physical trait, apart from being blue, says alot about his character.
- Stick Figure Animation: Often the stickmen themselves aren't animated, but every comic has animation and stickmen are always featured and sometimes they move more than usual.
- Stick-Figure Comic: They are stickfigures, they're in a comic.
- Unexplained Recovery They die and come back, often directly lampshaded.Repeatedly coming back to life seems kind of unrealistic, don't you think?
