Bill Nye the Russian Spy, sometimes abbreviated as BNTRS (rhymes with the last name of Jonathan Winters), is a nonvisual webcomic/fanfiction/online written-out TV show that is an Origins Episode revealing all the secrets of a certain Russian blue cat named Nermal and what he was doing before he was adopted by Jon.
According to BNTRS, Nermal, who is, like many Russian Blues, really a Russian spy camera, was the trusty Russian Blue assistant in a fake science show hosted by Bill Nye, a Russian spy agent, called Bill Nye the Russian Spy, a Parody of Bill Nye the Science Guy.
Sort of a prequel to Garfield, BNTRS shows Bill and Nermal hosting a makeshift kids' show in Seattle, in the style of IRL Bill Nye, except it only teaches misinformation, pro-Russia Takes Over the World messages, instructions for vandalism, and Russian poetry. That is, until the show is taken off the air for being a Russian spy show.

Read this Trope List, and remember, kids, Russia Rules!
- Absent-Minded Professor: Bill Nye, for sure.
- Agent Provocateur: Bill Nye, definitely. He pretty much teaches (very susceptible) random kids how to destroy everything except for Russia.
- Animal Espionage: Nermal.
- "Episode 4 - Russian Blue Cats" is pretty much all about this trope.
- Cat Stereotype: All Russian Blues are Russian spies. Nermal straight-up speaks Russian.
- Character Catchphrase: Bill's is "Russia Rules!" Or sometimes longer, "Science Drools! Russia Rules!"
- Bill has also been known to say "How you say…" when forgetting a word in English.
- Covert Group with Mundane Front: A science show for school-age kids. Nothing necessarily Russian about it. However, the name of the show is literally Bill Nye The Russian Spy, so that's where that ends.
- Crossover: Of Bill Nye the Science Guy and Garfield.
- Depraved Kids' Show Host: Don't let Bill Nye around your kids unless you want them to become furniture-vandalizing, overly pro-Russia, haiku-writing hooligans.
- Do Not Try This at Home: Literally everything Bill says is a "science experiment", such as pouring Russian salad dressing into your eyeballs to see well or sending all your parents' underpants to Russia.
- Exactly What It Says on the Tin: The title of the show. The show is about a guy named Bill Nye, who is - albeit terrible at keeping it top-secret - a Russian spy.
- Excited Kids' Show Host: Bill Nye, who is excited about Russia.
- For Science!: Bill and the kids slowly destroying the entire city of Seattle and invading it for Russia. Bill claims it is one big science experiment.
- Glorious Mother Russia: Bill is obsessed with Russia and so is Nermal.
- Gratuitous Russian
- Mad Scientist: Bill (if you can even call him a scientist).
- Running Gag: Bill and Nermal are often scripted as doing stuff "in Russian". Such as "Nermal purrs in Russian", "Bill pets Nermal in Russian", "Nermal pounces on the furniture department manager in Russian".
- Russia Takes Over the World: What Bill Nye is trying to accomplish.
- Talking Cat: Nermal, except, being a Russian Blue cat, he can only speak Russian.
- Totally Not a Criminal Front: The show is called "Bill Nye The Russian Spy", for crying out loud!
