In-Universe, the glitches in the videos are caused by monoliths
Monoliths are said to be capable of disrupting electrical signals on a wide scale. All of the videos are apparently on tapes or digitally recorded on a camera In-Universe, and both of those things need electricity to function properly. So, what if all the distortion and glitches in the series, especially during moments where crucial information is about to be revealed, are caused by monoliths? This theory seems to be supported by the fact the most censorship and film corruption occurs in the monolith video itself, and that the facility video, which becomes distorted to the point of incomprehensibility towards the end, appears to take place
near the monoliths.
