1950s series

    Season One: 1951- 1952 
  1. The Human Bomb: An ex-convict plans to take his grudge on the city of Los Angeles out on city hall, where he has hidden a bomb in his clothing and plans to detonate it if his exact demands aren't met within a half hour.
  2. The Big Actor: The search for stolen prescriptions from a local hospital leads to a Hollywood actor who has become addicted to heroin.
  3. The Big Death: The hunt for two escaped murderers – known for being bloodthirsty for revenge – has Friday and new partner Jacobs on a frantic search before they strike again.
  4. The Big Mother: The trail of the kidnapping of a newborn baby leads to a grieving mother who had recently lost her own baby.
  5. The Big Cast: A young man cooly and calmly denies his involvement in the death of a missing man. Friday is determined to crack the man's rock-solid story through relentless questioning.
  6. The Big Speech: Friday and Jacobs investigate a heist involving thousands of dollars of prescription medications after a pharmacist is found brutally beaten.
  7. The Big Parrot: The bodies of a rich couple and their pet parrot are found after their house is burned to the ground after a robbery. The detectives search for answers.
  8. The Big Moody: The murder of a rich man has Friday and Jacobs investigating.
  9. The Big Blast: A divorced mother is killed while she slept while the young boy is unharmed.
  10. The Big Trial: The victim in a hit-and-run drunk driving crash fails to appear in court, leading Friday on a search for the woman.
  11. The Big September Man: Friday and Jacobs investigate the brutal beating death of a young secretary and initially finger a mentally-ill homeless man. But the story of a supposed eyewitness, a fundamentalist Christian, begins to not make much sense.
  12. The Big Phone Call: A jeweler's claim that he was robbed doesn't jibe with Friday when he reviews his income statements. The man keeps trying to contact his wife for help, but is repeatedly unable to reach home.
  13. The Big Casing: Murder or suicide? That's what Friday and Jacobs have to determine when they are called to an apartment where a young man reports the death of his wife.
  14. The Big Lamp: After a safe burglar is acquitted in connection with a big heist, Friday and Jacobs bide their time until the crook regains his courage to strike again. This time, the officers are ready with a new plan to make sure he doesn't get away with his crime twice.

    Season Two: 1952- 1953 
  1. .22-Rifle For Christmas: Friday and Smith go on a frantic search for a pair of young boys who have gone missing in the days before Christmas. Also missing: a .22-caliber rifle, which one of the boys' fathers had hoped to give his son as a Christmas present.
  2. The Big Church: A lonely woman has been receiving threatening letters from an unknown stalker. As the letters become more salacious, suspicion turns to a middle-aged man who attends the same church she recently joined. Is there a predator within the ranks of a respected church, or will Friday and Smith find there is much more to the story?
  3. The Big Barrette: A beautiful 21-year-old woman is found beaten to death and there are virtually no clues ... except for a missing rhinestone that fell loose from a barrette. The trail hits several dead-ends but another attempted strongarm robbery involving a young, petite woman may finally lead to some answers.

    Season Three: 1953- 1954 
  1. The Big Hit-and-Run Killer: A bakery delivery truck is involved in a deadly hit-and-run accident. The bakery owner tells the detectives that a man named Paul used the truck but the initial leads go nowhere. Will the driver be found or the bakery owner be left holding the bag?

    Movie (September 4, 1954) 
  • Dragnet (1954): Sergeant Joe Friday and Officer Frank Smith hunt down the killer of a mobster, Miller Starkie by investigating Max Troy, the 2nd in Command.

    Season Four: 1954- 1955 
  1. The Big Present: A burglar has hit local grocery stores, and the only clues Friday and Smith have to go on are that the suspect can fit through a small window pane that's been removed ... and that he leaves a milk bottle at the scene of the crime.
  2. The Big Rod: The detectives search for a hit-and-run driver that killed a pregnant woman. Once it is determined a souped-up car may have been involved, Friday and Smith get help from the National Hot Rod Association in the search for the driver responsible.
  3. The Big Family: Friday and Smith investigate a possible suicide of a successful businessman with seemingly everything going for him. But the investigation reveals there's much more to the story than meets the suicide note.

The Big Counterfeit: Counterfeit bills are circulating in the community and the bills need to be confiscated for evidence ... or do they? Friday and Smith suspect something is very wrong when the identity of the police officer at work taking the money isn't on the police roster and set out to stop this imposter.

     1966 TV Movie 
  • Dragnet 1966: Originally the pilot for the 1960s series but was not broadcast until January 27, 1969, during the third season. Joe Friday and Bill Gannon are called back from vacation for a missing persons case, two female models and a war widow have vanished-having been last seen by a person named J. Johnson. While investigating, Friday and Gannon find a dead man in a vacant lot that may be J. Johnson. A side story involves Gannon is trying to avoid a forced retirement due to health concerns.

    Season One: Dragnet 1967 
  1. "The LSD Story": A new drug called lysergic acid diethylamide or more commonly known as LSD has turned up in Los Angeles, as Sergeant Joe Friday and Officer Bill Gannon are working with limited resources to try and stop LSD from getting into the hands of Juveniles. Originally aired January 12, 1967.
  2. "The Big Explosion": Friday and Gannon investigate after explosives and detonation devices were stolen from a consumers storage area. The devices lead to the home of a Neo-Nazi who has big plans for the explosives. Originally aired January 19, 1967.
  3. "The Kidnapping": Miss Ohrmund, the personal assistant of a wealthy business owner named Adele Vincent, has come to a bank as Adele Vincent has been kidnapped and the kidnapper is requesting $75,000 for the safe release of Adele Vincent. Originally aired February 9, 1967.
  4. "The Interrogation": A rookie police officer, Paul Culver,who is working undercover, has been identified by a liquor store owner as an armed robber who held him up but Culver swears he is innocent. Originally aired February 9, 1967.
  5. "The Masked Bandits": Four men wearing full red face masks have been holding up cocktail lounges and driving away in an old red Cadillac. A tip from a waitress locates a juvenile who is part of the robberies with Friday and Gannon hoping to get more information from him to find the rest of the masked men. Originally aired February 16, 1967.
  6. "The Bank Examiner Swindle": Elderly people are being cheated out of their savings by two men who pose as bank examiners, saying that they are trying to catch crooked tellers. Originally aired February 23, 1967.
  7. "The Hammer": An apartment manager named Alex Troy had been beaten to death with a hammer. The clues at the scene point to a person named 'Fred' that was playing cards with the victim at the time of his death. Originally aired March 2, 1967.
  8. "The Candy Store Robberies": A person has been robbing candy stores that are named Rachelles. One unique detail is the robber never held up the same Rachelles candy story twice. Originally aired March 9, 1967.
  9. "The Fur Job": A warehouse full of high quality furs were stolen from a salesman's vault. After getting a tip that the thieves are looking to sell the furs, Friday and Gannon go undercover to be the buyers. Originally aired March 16, 1697.
  10. "The Jade Story": A woman has reported that a thief broke into her home and stole her jade jewelry worth at least $200,000. As Friday and Gannon investigate, they start to suspect that the woman hasn't been telling the full truth about the burglary. Originally aired March 23, 1967

  11. "The Shooting": An patrol officer is shot during a traffic stop. As Friday and Gannon investigate they discover the people who shot the officer had just robbed a liquor store when the office was shot. However, issues arise as the officer cannot remember the shooting. Originally aired March 30, 1967

  12. "The Hit and Run Driver": A speeding driver runs over and kills an elderly couple crossing the street. Friday and Gannon's investigation turns up a frequent drunk driver whose casual attitude towards the deaths he caused sours Friday's attitude. Originally aired April 6, 1967

  13. "The Bookie": Friday goes undercover with the LAPD chaplain, Sgt. William Riddle, to smoke out an illegal betting ring operating out of a cocktail bar. After getting busted, the suspect ends up needing Riddle's help, not as a cop, but as a man of the cloth. Originally aired April 13, 1967

  14. "The Subscription Racket": Friday's appearance on a local TV talk show ends up netting him and Gannon a lead on their current investigation - door-to-door magazine subscription sales done under false pretenses. But one salesman has an interesting wrinkle - using a Congressional Medal of Honor as proof of his honesty. Originally aired April 20, 1967

  15. "The Gun": When a Japanese widow is sexually assaulted and murdered, Friday finds himself having difficulty controlling his anger over the senseless killing. But a chance contact with another assault victim manages to lead to a good suspect - if they can pin the murder weapon to him. Originally aired April 27, 1967

  16. "The Big Kids": A gang of juvenile shoplifters are stealing petty items from stores in order to be part of an exclusive social club. Friday and Gannon put pressure on the leader of the gang and discover a different side to his reason for belonging through larceny. Originally aired May 4, 1967

  17. "The Bullet": Friday and Gannon respond to an emergency call and find a man dead of a gunshot wound in a locked room, an apparent suicide. But the case takes a new turn when Scientific Investigation Division reveals the fatal bullet couldn't have been shot from the victim's gun. Originally aired May 11, 1967
    Season Two: Dragnet 1968 
  1. "The Grenade": Friday and Gannon respond to a Juvenile Assault with Deadly Weapon call when a teenager burns another with acid in a movie theater. The teen appears contrite at first, but after being released to his parents, they call saying their son has gone missing - with a live hand grenade. Originally aired September 14, 1967

  2. "The Shooting Board": Friday is put on leave after he surprises someone breaking into a change machine in an all-night laundromat, who fires at Friday with a gun. When no bullet can be found to corroborate Friday's story that he returned fire, his career on the force comes into question. Originally aired September 21, 1967

  3. "The Badge Racket": Gannon goes undercover at a hotel to catch con-men pretending to be vice officers shaking down out-of-towners, but the operation is jeopardized when the hotel's in house detective discovers them operating a sting. Originally aired September 28, 1967

  4. "The Bank Jobs": Assigned to Bank Robbery detail, Friday and Gannon believe they have found one-half of a man and woman bank-robbery team, until the woman's story about being forced to hold up a bank happens to other women. Originally aired October 5, 1967

  5. "The Big Neighbor": Gannon invites Friday to his home for dinner, where Friday learns that Gannon's neighbors constantly seek him out for advice with petty (and sometimes not-so-petty) problems with the law. Originally aired October 12, 1967

  6. "The Big Frustration": When a fellow Homicide detective goes AWOL after a case is thrown out of court, Friday and Gannon take time off to find him, hoping to convince him to come back to work and salvage what he can of his career before it's lost forever. Originally aired October 19, 1967

  7. "The Senior Citizen": Friday and Gannon investigate a series of residential burglaries tied to recent deaths, but the suspect they turn up turns out to be a lot older than they expected. Originally aired October 26, 1967

  8. "The Big High": A businessman asks Friday and Gannon to intervene with his adult daughter and son-in-law, unrepentant marijuana users, because he fears for the welfare of his infant granddaughter. Originally aired November 2, 1967

  9. "The Big Ad": Friday goes undercover as an ex-con who put an ad in the paper that he'll do anything for $1000, and received a card offering more, if he's willing to commit murder. Originally aired November 9, 1967

  10. "The Missing Realtor": When a lady real estate agent goes missing, and is soon discovered dead, Friday and Gannon investigate her boyfriend, but find out the killing may be linked to a thievery ring. Originally aired November 16, 1967

  11. "The Big Dog": Several women report having purses taken by a purse-snatching dog, but Friday and Gannon have trouble pinning down the culprit canine when the victims can't agree on a description for it. Originally aired November 23, 1967

  12. "The Pyramid Swindle": A lady con-artist revives her late husband's racket - a pyramid scheme, one difficult to prosecute effectively, but the district attorney has a new strategy to combat it: prosecute it as an unlicensed lottery. Originally aired November 30, 1967

  13. "The Phony Police Racket": Complaints come in to the Department that people are being taken paying for ads and membership cards to a phony police benevolent organization that promises special perks from the police. Originally aired December 7, 1967

  14. "The Trial Board": A patrolman asks Friday to be his advocate when he is brought before an LAPD trial board for his relationship with an old Army buddy who's become an illegal bookie - and claims he gave the patrolman a bribe for keeping the heat off. Originally aired December 14, 1967

  15. "The Christmas Story": Friday and Gannon are given what seems to be an impossible task: locate a missing chalk statue of the Baby Jesus that was stolen from the manger scene of a old mission church - with less than 24 hours before Christmas mass. Originally aired December 21, 1967

  16. "The Big Shipment": When a plane crash-lands near a residential neighborhood, loaded with narcotics, Friday and Gannon start a race against time to locate the smuggler and hopefully bust who's coming for the pickup. Originally aired December 28, 1967

  17. "The Big Search": When two young girls go missing from their front lawn, their mother is convinced their estranged alcoholic father has kidnapped them, but the real story of where they went involves a former neighbor's missing dog. Originally aired January 4, 1968

  18. "The Big Prophet": Friday and Gannon pay a visit to an ex-con who now sells himself as a religious brother espousing the "mind expanding" benefits of LSD, but the officers are more concerned he's peddling to neighborhood kids. Originally aired January 11, 1968

  19. "The Big Amateur": When a neighborhood businessmen's association wants to honor a local cop, they contact the LAPD looking to arrange an appearance, but there's one problem: the cop is an impostor, never hired by the Department. Friday and Gannon investigate, thinking the man could be working a long con, but the truth is stranger than they expect. Originally aired January 25, 1968

  20. "The Big Starlet": When an aunt comes to the LAPD looking to locate her young niece who is on her own in the City of Angels, she asks Friday and Gannon for help looking for her - and they end up on a journey through the underground pornography industry. Originally aired February 1, 1968

  21. "The Big Clan": A Romani mother and son approach Friday looking to inform on local fortune-teller con-artists, but as Friday suspects, it's a ploy to solidify their own control over the local fortune-tellers, and it's confirmed when they attempt to bribe Friday to play ball. Originally aired February 8, 1968

  22. "The Little Victim": Friday and Gannon find themselves going up against the fear of an abused wife and the unwillingness of neighbors to get involved when they investigate the injuries of a baby who the mother claims was injured in an accident, but examination reveals signs of lasting physical abuse. Originally aired February 15, 1968

  23. "The Squeeze": Friday and Gannon grill a supposedly reformed syndicate man who seems to be involved in forcing a local businessman into selling control of his business to the mob. Originally aired February 22, 1968

  24. "The Suicide Attempt": A woman in New York calls the Department afraid her grown son in Los Angeles is threatening to commit suicide, involving Friday and Gannon in a race against time to find the man before he succeeds in ending his life. Originally aired February 29, 1968

  25. "The Big Departure": A series of robberies of local stores lead Friday and Gannon to a group of teenagers, looking to separate themselves from adult society. Originally aired March 7, 1968

  26. "The Big Investigation": A look at background checks of Los Angeles Police Academy candidates is spotlighted by an investigation by Friday and Gannon into the past of a promising young academy candidate who has an unexplained six-month gap in his law enforcement career. Originally aired March 14, 1968

  27. "The Big Gambler: When a local manufacturing firm runs and audit and discovers a shortfall of more than $100,000, the owner asks Friday and Gannon to find the responsible parties - and soon their suspicion falls on an executive with a powerful gambling habit. Originally aired March 21, 1968

  28. "The Big Problem": Friday and Gannon are working Community Relations, trying to repair the already fraught relationship between the police and minorities - represented in two different stories, involving a black couple stopped for what they thought was no reason, and a militant black man who refuses to surrender to the police - for a traffic warrant.
