Fallen is a YA paranormal romance series written by Lauren Kate. In the first book, also titled Fallen, Luce (short for Lucinda), is sent to Sword & Cross Reform School after a boy she kisses “spontaneously combusts” and she is accused of murdering him. While at the school, she becomes intrigued by a boy named Daniel and discovers that the other students are fallen angels. Over the course of the series, Luce learns more about the war between rival angelic factions and her part in it.
These books and films contain examples of:
- Fallen Angels: Many characters, including Luce, turn out to be fallen angels.
- Love Triangle: Daniel and Cameron vie for Luce’s love.
- Psycho Ex-Girlfriend: Luce has a male version of this in Lucifer himself. Their breakup was so catastrophic, it caused the Fall of the angels from Heaven.
- Satan: He’s an antagonist.
