Darth Wiki / Seishin The Ninjutsu Chronicle

Go To

Seishin The Ninjutsu Chronicle is an original fiction, particularly a series of Short Stories and Flash Fiction, by WolfTropesII about Ninja. And this time, the aim is to make the ninja close to life as possible, with a few paranormal cases. Because of the goal, the Troper's zeal drove her into intensive research.

Seishin was inspired by the Troper's love of the seclusive shadow agents themselves, her frustration from the common super-human theme emitted from media, and the author Futaro Yamada, the creator of the NinpōChō Series (忍法帖). It began in 2008 and was first planned as a long Prose Fiction of at least fifty chapters, but after a few chapters and due to difficulty, it was put on hiatus. The setting often encompasses the Warring States Peroid and Edo Period, but there will be some taking place in the Modern Era.

Many of the stories are Unpublished Works and one of the author's goals to make around at least twenty or thirty stories before moving it towards a more serious theme.

The word Seishin (清心) means Pure Heart.

Tropes associated with Seishin:

  • Author Appeal: Using historical and mythological themes are often seen in Troper's original works.
  • Berserk Button:
    • The best example is probably Nobunaga Oda, who was known as the Maoh (Devil King).
    • Toyotomi potentially has one for having Goemon Ishikawa boiled in a cauldron. He also chases down all of Akechi's followers
  • Book Dumb: Those within the peasant class only know how to work, but train physically and become adept ninja.
  • A Child Shall Lead Them:
    • Youths sometime take charge of noble families after the passing or retirement of the previous leader. Some lead armies.
    • Kyoushirou became clan leader in his teens
    • Real-life example: 15-year-old Nagamasa Azai who defeated a Rokkaku army. Koga struggled as well.
  • Killed Off for Real: Can get averted during production, but there are plenty of names currently in line for deaths including Kyoushirou, Taisuke, Shoutarou and Shiori's child, Ryo, Hanzo and Tanba, Kotaro, Goemon, Hayato, Yazaemon and Sugitani, Yukimura, etc.
  • Evil Overlord: Nobunaga Oda. Or he's just an infamous Blood Knight with a lot of ambition.
  • Feuding Families: Especially Takeda and Uesugi, Go-Hojo and Uesugi, Azai and Rokkaku, Momochi and Fujibayashi, etc.
  • Gender Bender: Saizo is very good at disguise and is capable of this with his ability..
  • Gorn: There's war, there's blood. Lots of it.
  • Genre Shift: Adventure, romance, friendship, philosophical, tragedy, etc.
  • The Gunslinger: Mostly riflemen. In the ninja band, there are members of the Sugitani and Kido Family. Also, many samurai.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper (Those who mess with Nobunaga Oda were given a terrible fate. At best, severely rebuked.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Shoutarou and Kai. Even in the 21st Century stories)
  • Hot-Blooded:
    • When your spirit is fixed on rushing into battle and dying, some characters can get pretty intense.
    • Sasuke is a loud, reckless idiot.
    • Kyoushirou is Not So Stoic sometimes and will preach about family zeal. He has a Berserk Button if someone talks about his parents (post-death) badly.
  • Legacy Character
    • Hanzo Hattori, with some Generation Xerox as he and his family serve the Tokugawa.
    • There are five ninja named Kotaro Fuuma.
    • For this series, Tanba Momochi, Saizo Kirigakure.
  • Love Triangle: In an apparent legend about Tanba Momochi, he fell in love with an assistant from Nara, who was murdered by Tanba's wife. The wife was Driven to Suicide
  • Loyal Animal Companion: So far it's Higashi the dog, Seta the horse, and various cats and avians.
  • Meaningful Name (from characters to weapons. Character-wise, Sarutobi Sasuke is a good example, which means "Monkey jump")
  • The Rival:
    • Uesugi Kenshin and Takeda Shingen
    • Shoutaro has his own baby brother to Kyoushirou.
    • Hayashi and Ishikawa Goemon
    • Hanzo Hattori vs Kotaro Fuuma
    • Akutawagawa vs Kousaka
  • Multigenerational Household: Many characters live with spouse, parents, and grandparents if living. Some siblings, if they don't, work with other families.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Many characters adopt different names. This also goes for Hayashi.
  • Red Baron:
    • Hayashi being "Asura/Ashura", Ryo's name means "Dragon".
    • Uesugi Kenshin is the Tiger of Echigo.
    • Nobunaga is Fool of Owari and "Devil King of Owari"; Takeda Shingen is Tiger of Kai
    • Sanada Nobushige is the Brave Shipuu
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Sasuke and Saizo, also dressed in respective colors; Shoutarou and Kyoushirou.
  • Sensitive Guyand Manly Man (Ryo and Hajime for now)
  • The Republic: The Iga Sokoku Ikki.
  • Samurai: Hattori Hanzō is a badass samurai and Ninja commander.
  • There Is No Kill Like Overkill: Plenty of death, within Tensho no Iga Ran in particular.
  • You Have Failed Me: Many samurai are Driven to Suicide if they dishonor their lord.
