- Ancestral Name: Downplayed. Lou's full name is Louise, but she is Always Known By Their Nickname, which is her father's name - Lou.
- Butch Lesbian: She tends toward tank tops and jeans as a fashion style, works at a gym, drives a pick-up truck, doesn't use much make-up and sports a very era-appropriate mullet.
- Dark and Troubled Past: Lou is plagued by flashbacks of her past working directly for her father, which includes murdering his enemies and dumping their bodies, all on his behalf.
- Mafia Princess: She's the daughter of a gun smuggling crimelord who seemingly owns the little town outright.
- Sleeves Are for Wimps: Lou favors tank tops as a style, and she previously killed people for her father and dumped their bodies.

A wandering vagrant and bodybuilder.
- Amazonian Beauty: Jackie is a professional bodybuilder, where flexing and showing off muscle is the name of the game, and Lou is smitten with her.
- Homeless Hero: Jackie's Establishing Character Moment is of her sleeping under a bridge.
- Magical Homeless Person: Jackie is shown sleeping under a bridge before she meets Lou. She is also a Sizeshifter. Maybe.

Portrayed By: Ed Harris
A criminal kingpin and Lou's father.
- Animal Lover: Subverted. Lou Sr. seems to be one after looking after JJ's pet bird after his death without much to gain from it, only to have him take a bite out of his own pet beetle during a Villanous Breakdown near the climax.
- Big Bad: The main antagonist of the film.
- Crazy Consumption: Lou Senior loves bugs and has several pets. But when Lou turns against him, he smashes their tanks, grabs one, and eats it.
- Equal-Opportunity Evil: Even though it's the 1980s, Lou admits that her father doesn't care about homosexuality. When Lou Sr. sees Jackie in Beth's hospital room, he just smirks as he connects her to Lou.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Subverted. He isn't without some sense of love for his family, but they prove to be as disposable as anyone else. He's heavily implied to have murdered his wife, he doesn't seem all that upset about J.J. putting his own daughter in the hospital, and he arranges for the assassination of his other daughter. Much as he might throw a tantrum about doing what he feels he has to do, he very clearly puts himself first.
- Evil Old Folks: He's a septuagenarian sociopath.
- Manipulative Bastard: He has a talent for manipulation, as shown when he effortlessly lures Jackie into his clutches and turns her into a hired gun.
- Villainous Breakdown: Once Lou Sr. learns that his daughter intends to expose his operation, he flies into a rage, trashing his office and eating his own pet beetle.
J.J.

Portrayed By: Dave Franco
Lou's brother-in-law, Beth's husband, and Lou Sr's right-hand man.
- Asshole Victim: His death is gruesome, but it's hard to say he didn't do everything in his power to earn it.
- Domestic Abuser: He's intensely violent and controlling toward his wife, Beth. Eventually, he puts her in the hospital.
- Lousy Lovers Are Losers: The wife-beating loser JJ is introduced being a lousy lover to Jackie. After he's finished, he proclaims, "That was magical!"
- Psychopathic Manchild: His interactions with Beth seem to show this, as she babies him relentlessly as if he isn't a grown man who's extremely dangerous in his own right.

An addled local woman with a fixation on Lou.
- Abhorrent Admirer: She makes some inappropriate advances towards Lou in the opening scene, then later blackmails Lou into dating her.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: Daisy is an Abhorrent Admirer of Lou's and is jealous of Jackie when the pair start hooking up.
- Dies Wide Open: She dies with her eyes open. Lou shuts them immediately before covering her with a blanket.
- Faux Affably Evil: She puts on this sweet girly girl facade, but drops it once she starts blackmailing Lou.
- Scarpia Ultimatum: Basically blackmails Lou into dating and having sex with her.
