* Paru Itagaki, creator of ''Manga/{{Beastars}}'', is a very private person and has never shown her face in public, always opting to wear a [[VideoGame/HotlineMiami Jacket]]-like chicken mask whenever she appears at events (when she got married she even [[https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2023-09-26/beastars-manga-creator-paru-itagaki-gets-married/.202814 released a picture of herself wearing it in her wedding dress]]). [[ZigzaggedTrope On the other hand]], she's also launched an autobiography manga (''Paruno Graffiti''), indicating that she is at least willing to talk about her life in manga format.

* Tom Fischbach, creator of [[LongRunner long-running]] webcomic ''Webcomic/TwoKinds'', is a very private man, a stark contrast to his substantially more outgoing younger brother, Mark Fischbach, better known as WebVideo/{{Markiplier}}. Tom only ever publicly appears at conventions and maintains a fairly restrained internet presence aside from his work. He has made a handful of cameo appearances in Mark's videos, but as reiterated by Mark, it's usually because of Mark pressing Tom to appear as Tom doesn't like being on camera.

*Strangely, Creator/JohnWaters exhibits some of these tendencies. He still makes a ton of public appearances and is interviewed very frequently, but he refuses to discuss his personal life and his relationships in said interviews and he hasn't directed a feature film in 20 years. This may be due to the fact the last project he tried to make was cancelled, disillusioning him from independent studios, and the Hairspray musical made him rich enough to not have to work.

* A short story by Creator/DavidScholes, called, appropriately enough, "Internet Writer", is about B Dub, [[AuthorAvatar a nobody who writes science fiction as a hobby and uploads it to the Internet]]. He eventually improves his skill enough to get a real fan base, but [[NotGoodWithRejection he was so disappointed by his early rejection letters]] that he cut off all communication with the world, meaning he never learns of his literary success.

* LetsPlay/{{Critikal}} early on, and still is to an extent, very reclusive. The only thing people originally knew about him was that he was a male. There was a rumor at the time that his name was Charlie from a comment that was left on one of his first videos but it was up for debate if that was true. He would drop hints from time to time about some personal life, but people were unsure if any of it was true. It wasn't until 2015 that he confirmed his real name was Charlie and in 2017 he showed off his face for the first time. Recently he has more comfortable with being on camera and has opened up about more of his life, showing his girlfriend, dogs, and even his father in recent videos.

* ''Manga/MyDressUpDarling'': Sajuna "Juju" Inui is a very famous cosplayer, and Marin is one of her biggest fans, but at the start of the story she never attends events to interact with other cosplayers, to the point many doubted she even existed. It's later revealed she likes to cosplay for herself alone and it's her younger sister Shinju who handled the posting of her photos, and she didn't know how to respond to the avalanche of comments.

* Creator/ChristopherNolan is considered one of the best directors of the modern age and of all time, with movies such as ''Film/Memento'', ''Film/ThePrestige'', ''Film/Inception'', ''Film/Interstellar'', ''Film/Dunkirk'', ''Film/TheDarkKnightTrilogy'', and ''Film/Oppenheimer'' all receiving commercial success and critical acclaim, with the latter even racking up an impressive seven academy awards and nearly billion-dollar box office gross despite its tedious runtime and subject matter. But despite his large following and influence, virtually nothing is known about him, with him rarely making any formal announcements for his projects and preferring to allow his wife and co-producer Emma Thomas do the speaking for him. He also claims not to own a cellphone or email address, and types up all his scripts in secrecy on a computer not connected to the internet, which explains the secrecy of his work.

* Tord Larsson, a Norwegian artist and animator mostly known for his involvement in ''WebAnimation/{{Eddsworld}}'' became this shortly after his departure from the series in 2008, due to wanting to pursue his own artistic career and not simply be known for his involvement in the Flash series. Persistent and toxic fans who didn't respect or understand his decision to leave Eddsworld, in part due to neither him nor creator Edd Gould really explaining his leave properly, began to harass Tord, causing him to go off the grid. He was not only totally distant to fans but also the Eddsworld crew as he was only in contact with Gould and not his co-stars Matthew Hargreaves and Thomas Ridgwell. It should also be noted that the latter claimed that the harassment of Tord got so bad he stopped using his actual name on the internet. He later re-emerged following [[DiedDuringProduction Gould's passing]], releasing a video in which he clarified why he left and dispelling any rumors. For whatever reason this video along with the Youtube channel was deleted. To this day, Tord's whereabouts remain unknown, with him leaving behind lost or dead social media accounts.

* ''WebAnimation/HomestarRunner'' creators Creator/TheBrothersChaps, were quite open with their fanbase, making public appearances and even featuring their children in some shorts, but in 2009 they started to appear less and less, which has been attributed to the birth of Matt's second daughter and work burnout (having produced content nearly every week from 2002 to late 2009.) In 2014, they broke the silence and confirmed the return of Homestar Runner, even saying they hadn't planned on the hiatus being so long. Even with that, they're only open about themselves and the content they provide and keep nearly everything else private.
