* {{Foil}}: The fact that their name is a play on "authentic" demonstrates right away that they're a deliberate constrast to the Forgers. Barbara and Sigmund are a happy, openly affectionate married couple that contrasts with the Forgers' close-knit but fundamentally insecure fake family that's become real. Sigmund and Loid are both very intelligent men, but while Loid is in his physical and mental prime, Sigmund has decayed a bit in his old age. Barbara and Yor are both sweet women, but Yor is a bit of an insecure space cadet who's no good at housework and secretly an assassin with CharlesAtlasSuperpowers, while Barbara is a housewife who's hinted to have a strong will and keep her husband under control. Even Twilight and Sigmund's approaches to trying to teach Anya are deliberate constrasts: they both try to involve her interests, but Twilight simply tries to cram facts and knowledge into her brain while Sigmund instead makes the learning fun, and tries to teach Anya to appreciate learning for its own sake rather than a means to an end.
* GentleTouchVsFirmHand: In contrast to Loid's firm and direct approach trying to teach Anya, Sigmund manages to make even further progress tutoring her by developing an approach she genuinely finds fun, such as saying a line from "Spy Wars" in a classical language.

* CallForward: In flashback Mission 97, when a teenaged Henry is fretting over having used violence to protect Martha from a thug, saying he'd "resorted to animal behavior", Martha (in disguise as a "Masked Warrior Ballerina") interjects "Young man... human beings ''are'' animals", an argument Martha's young charge Becky herself makes to Henderson many decades later during the art contest in Mission 25.

** In Mission 59, Loid notes that she carries herself like an experienced ex-soldier. While there's been no external confirmation, Loid's analysis is generally accurate, as her skills during the busjacking incident certainly attest to.

* KickTheDog: The first sign that he is ''not'' a good guy is taking the restaurant's last Meremere cake from Anya just as she's about to eat it, just to have his fix of sweets, on top of the fact he forced his way into a restaurant that only serves families.
