Friends and Allies

    Sam Manson
Danny's female best friend, with a "secret" crush on him. She's also Mandie's rival for his affection.
  • Action Girl: She's a competent ghost hunter and the most athletic in Team Phantom.
  • Actor Allusion: In Chapter 13, Mandie notices that she sounds like Vicky. Sam and Vicky are both voiced by Grey DeLisle/Grey Griffin.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: With Mandie being romantically involved with Danny, this means Sam does not get a Relationship Upgrade with him.
  • Berserk Button:
    • She REALLY doesn’t like any girl getting close to Danny.
    • She doesn’t like it when people call her sweaty since she tells Mandie that goths "simmer", not sweat.
  • Betty and Veronica: She is the Betty to Mandie's Veronica for Danny's Archie.
  • Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: She is the Brawn to Mandie's Beauty and Jazz's Brains.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Team Phantom goes to Boudacia to rescue Danny when Brutis’ forces kidnap him. She personally shoots Brutis several times and knocks out of Vlad’s hand the remote that activates the nanites he put in Danny, Milee, and Maurus.
  • Brutal Honesty: She's very open about her dislike of Mandie, especially when the latter starts hanging out with Danny.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Deconstructed as Tucker calls her out for not having the guts to tell Danny she likes him sooner since he wasn't going to wait for her forever.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Towards Danny.
  • Crimefighting with Cash: Sam uses her family's wealth and a discreet but very reliable delivery service to acquire spacesuits for Team Phantom to use in their mission to rescue Danny from planet Boudacia.
  • Defiant Captive: Even when being restrained, she's still making threats to Mandie.
  • Dirty Coward: Jazz and Tucker accuse her of being this because of her refusal to just be honest about her feelings for Danny and instead trying to use Mandie as an excuse for her behavior.
  • Enemy Mine: She’s willing to put aside her hatred of Mandie to team up with her to stop Brutis’ coup since Sam has come to despise the arrogant Boudacian general FAR more than she ever did Mandie for what he did to Danny.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: She believes that two spaceships showing up in Amity Park means Mandie has reverted back to her evil ways and captured Danny. Then again, her belief is obviously clouded by jealousy.
  • Everyone Can See It: Mandie can quickly tell that Sam's protectiveness towards Danny around the former is mostly out of jealousy and romantic interest.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • She might hate Mandie (mostly out of jealousy), but Sam does feel guilty about almost shooting Mandie's mother Milee after mistaking her for her daughter and apologizes to her for it.
    • As angry and heartbroken as she is that Danny chose Mandie over her, Sam would never betray him. When Brutis offers her a position in his empire in exchange for attacking Danny and reminds Sam that he spurned her feelings, she refuses because she hates Brutis WAY more than she ever did Mandie for kidnapping Danny and even trying to get Sam to fight her friend because Brutis is too cowardly to beat him in a fair fight.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Downplayed but she and Mandie develop some respect for each other when they join forces to fight Vlad and Brutis at the wedding that latter forced Mandie into, especially since Mandie was impressed with Sam for insulting and blasting Brutis.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: She becomes very jealous when Mandie starts dating Danny and tries to discourage Danny at every chance.
  • Hopeless Suitor: She realizes she's this to Danny after he starts dating Mandie and hates it.
  • Hot-Blooded: She tends to be the most aggressive of Team Phantom, and Danny’s growing relationship with Mandie has only made it worse.
  • Hypocrite: She gets mad at Mandie for using violence to deal with Dash despite her own desire to hurt the Jerk Jock on occasion in the past for his mistreatment of her friends.
  • Improperly Paranoid: While Tucker and Danny admit Sam is right to distrust Mandie, she takes it too far by spying on her and Danny while they’re together, something Team Phantom calls her out on, especially since it’s severely straining her friendship with Danny.
  • Insistent Terminology: She stresses to Mandie that goths don’t sweat, they simmer.
  • Insult Backfire: She actually takes it as a compliment when Mandie calls her pale.
  • Jerkass Has a Point:
    • Even Danny and Tucker admit she's right to still be distrustful of Mandie after the latter forms a truce with Danny.
    • While her suspicions of Mandie are misdirected, Sam correctly suspects that a missing Danny is on planet Boudacia and that Team Phantom will need weapons from the Fenton armory for when they go there.
    • Team Phantom doesn’t approve of Sam’s hostile and jealous behavior but they do admit that she is justified in believing that Mandie is responsible when Brutis sends a team to kidnap Danny since she has already taken him prisoner twice now.
  • Jerkass Realization: Downplayed but she feels ashamed upon learning Mandie was not behind Danny's latest abduction or the incoming Boudacian invasion, and is in fact a victim of Brutis' machinations.
  • Lack of Empathy: Mandie accuses her of not caring about Danny since she’s more upset about Mandie beating up Dash than Dash harassing him.
  • Never My Fault: After her argument with Danny, Sam proceeds to lock herself in her room and blame all her misfortunes on Mandie for coming into their lives from out of nowhere.
  • Nice Mean And In Between: Concerning the original Team Phantom, Sam is the Mean to Danny’s Nice and Tucker’s In-Between since she’s the most grumpy and pessimistic of the group.
  • Not Helping Your Case: Jazz and Tucker point out that her spying on Danny's dates with Mandie and yelling at him are putting a serious strain on their friendship and making it easier for Mandie to grow closer to him.
  • Open Mouth, Insert Foot: While Sam does apologize to Milee for shooting her when she mistook her for Mandie, neither Milee nor her husband Maurus appreciate that she wanted to shoot their daughter.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Sam’s inability to express her true feelings to Danny and increasingly hostile behavior toward his growing relationship with Mandie not only severely strains their friendship, but is pushing Danny closer to Mandie.
  • Properly Paranoid: When Team Phantom proposes traveling to planet Boudacia to look for a missing Danny, Sam suggests they bring weaponry and Tucker agrees.
  • Skewed Priorities: Sam seems more concerned about Mandie beating up Dash than the Jerk Jock harassing her best friend and his girlfriend. She’d rather scold Mandie for fending off Dash’s harassment than check to see if Danny is okay.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: She becomes more distant and hostile after Danny starts dating Mandie to the point her friends and family are worried about her.
  • Undying Loyalty: She instantly refuses Brutis’ offer to defeat Danny on his behalf in exchange for the chance at revenge for Danny dating Mandie instead of her and a position of honor in Brutis' empire because she’ll always be loyal to her best friends and shoots the latter instead. Danny is well aware of this and appreciates her devotion to her friends.

    Tucker Foley
Danny's male best friend, who is a techno geek.
  • Accidental Misnaming: He thinks Brutis’ name is “Berty”.
  • Beneath Notice: Tucker takes advantage of Vlad ignoring him during the battle with Brutis’ forces at the latter and Mandie's forced wedding to swipe and destroy the remote that activates Vlad’s nanobots implanted in Danny, Maurus, and Milee.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: He's usually harmless comic relief but he does have limits, as he explodes on Sam for her self-destructive behavior just because she disapproves of Mandie and Danny dating.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Team Phantom goes to Boudacia to rescue Danny when Brutis’ forces kidnap him. Tucker personally knocks out the security system keeping Danny and Mandie’s parents prisoner, and later steals and breaks the remote that Vlad was using to activate the nanites he put in Danny, Milee, and Maurus.
  • Black and Nerdy: African-American and a proud techno-geek.
  • Brutal Honesty: He points out how stupid it was of Brutis to think he could bribe Sam into fighting Danny on his behalf since Sam has Undying Loyalty towards her friends and would never betray Danny, no matter how mad she is that he’s dating Mandie.
  • Casanova Wannabe: He thinks he is a ladies man, but he is not anywhere close to that.
  • Cruel to Be Kind: He helps Sam break out of her funk by yelling at her to just tell Danny her true feelings and get it over with.
  • Deadpan Snarker: He has a pretty dry sense of humor most of the time, like Danny.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • He doesn't approve of Sam's clinginess toward Danny whenever girls show interest in him but Tucker does admit that she is justified to be wary about having Mandie near Danny.
    • He doesn't trust Mandie but he trusts Danny's judgment of her. Thus, Tucker is willing to give her the benefit of the doubt when two spaceships show up in Amity Park because he doesn't believe it's part of some alien invasion orchestrated by Mandie or that she kidnapped Danny when he's gone missing.
  • Excellent Judge of Character: He knows that Sam would never turn on Team Phantom no matter how mad she is at Danny and realizes Brutis is even stupider than he thought if the latter believed he could bribe or manipulate her into destroying Danny on his behalf during their duel at the wedding Brutis forced Mandie into.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: Him and Danny have been close since kindergarten.
  • Hollywood Hacking: Tucker can use his PDA to hack into Boudacia’s security system, much to Milee’s shock and amazement.
  • Hormone-Addled Teenager: He doesn't bother hiding that he finds Mandie attractive.
  • Jerkass Has a Point:
    • He may have been harsh about it, but he rightfully calls Sam out on not having the guts to tell Danny her feelings for him and points out she missed her chance now that Danny's with Mandie since he wasn’t going to wait forever for Sam to make a move, so she has no right to be jealous.
    • After Sam almost shoots Milee when she mistakes her for her daughter Mandie, who she incorrectly believed kidnapped Danny to Boudacia, Tucker defends Sam by pointing out that Mandie has already captured Danny twice, so it is understandable that they’d suspect her for being responsible for the latest kidnapping scheme against him.
  • Nice Mean And In Between: Concerning the original Team Phantom, Tucker is the In-Between to Danny’s Nice and Sam’s Mean since he’s nicer than Sam but not as charismatic as Danny.
  • Properly Paranoid: He agrees with Sam that they'll need lots of weapons to rescue Danny on planet Boudacia when he goes missing since it's a planet of alien warriors so they'll likely be armed to the teeth.
  • Rage Breaking Point: He eventually gets tired of Sam's whining about Danny and Mandie's relationship and yells at her to either tell Danny her true feelings or get over it.
  • The Smart Guy: He's very good with technology.
  • Smarter Than You Look: He suggests that Frostbite can help Team Phantom reach planet Boudacia by using the Infi-map.
