That's one mighty fine page you made on Blackstar there.

I wanted to do one on Filmation's Ghostbusters, until I found out we already had one. I tried to revise it anyway, but I really hate writing wiki articles (mostly because I don't have all the tropes memorized, so I wind up talking more about the actual show and less about what tropes apply to it).

While we're on the subject of Filmation, do you know whether or not their Tarzan cartoons were ever released? They couldn't be included with Lone Ranger and Zorro because of some weird copyright issue.

Thanks for the vote of confidence on the Blackstar page. I'm afraid it's not a very well-remembered cartoon, though I was fond of it. Again, the design on it is excellent, and the plots are generally well conceived. It was certainly better animated than Thundarr The Barbarian, though I must admit I slightly preferred that one, for the sake of the writing. (Yeah, another of my unpopular opinions is that animation writing is every bit as important as the art — perhaps even more so.)

Apparently, the only release of Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle to DVD consisted of one episode "Tarzan and the Colossus of Zome," released by Warner Bros. on "Saturday Morning Cartoons: 1970s Volume 1." There are one or two episodes posted on You Tube, not in any outstanding quality. A real pity, because it was an excellent cartoon, with writing unmarred by the silliness that, alas! was often a feature of Filmation's dialogue. It's notable that the writers obviously made an attempt to include terminology from Edgar Rice Burrough's books.

By the way, TLotJ really ought to have its own page. I'd do it, but I'm already behindhand with Die Nibelungen, and I really want to get something up for the various Wagner operas.

Blackstar may not be "very well remembered," but we're fortunate that it at least got a DVD release

Incidentally, getting back to the subject of Masters of the Universe, what did you think of The New Adventures of He-Man and the series from 2002?

I actually just watched an episode of the 2002 one and, though it has a lot of things that get on my nerves, its actually not too bad as a series.

All I remember about The New Adventures was when watching it as a child I basically had the first instance I can remember of feeling like They Changed It, Now It Sucks!. I haven't seen it since then so I don't know if I'd feel differently about it as an adult.

What I saw of the 2002 reboot wasn't too bad. I kinda missed Prince Adam wearing pink and lavender though, to be honest. It didn't have quite the same Narm Charm. What I did like was they got Skeletor to sound similar to the original cartoon. Prince Adam on the other hand sounds just like Link from the Legend of Zelda 80's cartoon, I wonder if it was the same voice actor. I kept waiting for him to say "Excuuuuse me princess!" to Teela. It is a dreadful pity that they never got to bring She-Ra into it, I heard they were planning on it.

IIRC, Adam in the 2002 series is played by the same person who played Max Sterling in Robotech.

And New Adventures was pretty much the show that defined "They Changed It, Now It Sucks!" for most kids at the time. I know I had that reaction at first. Nowadays I'm okay with the show, the main thing I can't stand is the voice acting (it sounds like an awful anime dub) and those four stupid "scientists" who always argue over their inventions.
