I mean that IS the reason why.

He even says “I am the shadow. The true self…” as the final nail to it,

Not necessarily. Fuuka can also summon her Persona without an Evoker (she uses one the first time but never after that), and as far as we know she never confronted her Shadow (though she was in Tartarus for over a week so maybe she did, who knows)

Navigators are kinda built different though.

Fuuka doesn't need to use an Evoker (which both P3 and Arena confirm). Rise's Shadow is too op pls nerf to the point where Teddie needed to do what was tantamount to a Suicide Attack to beat it, plus she can transform her Persona into a combat mode or a dancing stage. Futaba awoke to her Persona in a manner more similar to the P4 crew but with a rebellion twist.

Also the theory I heard about the Reaper is that it's related to Tatsuya Sudou from P2 EP. But then again the Reaper is pretty much just there as an Outside-Context Problem Optional Boss.

So remember those posts I was doing of characters in P3 perfectly timing their attacks to Mass Destruction?

Well, it can happen in P5 as well.

First is this. We got Joker and Akechi unleashing some well timed Mass....destruction.

And then we have our heroes performing some well timed Mass....Dodge-struction.

They decided in PQ he’s an agent of Cosmic Order who destroys threat to The Law.

[up]x3 Thing is that Takaya explicitly says THOSE words in relation to how he got the ability to do so without an Evoker. Which is pretty damning cause the implications is that accepting his Shadow brought out the worse in him as a person.

Reload also treats him differently from Fuuka so it seems they don’t really consider being able to use their abilities to be similar, since the only “special” persona user in the team is MC.

That or it’s easier to invoke the abilities as a navigator compared to being directly in combat.

Reason number I can't quite remember why we need a P4 remake: so we can time All Out Attacks to the music even better.

[up] Not to mention that in Reload Takaya gets to use a Theurgy the moment he gets his hands on an Evoker.

If Persona crossovers keep killing gacha games, does that mean a Persona gacha will kill the entire gacha industry?

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.

Sega has owned Atlus for like a decade now. I'd also assume the deal was there because Sega liked the potential of Atlus brands (especially since Persona was already looking like big franchise material) and because Atlus really needed a sugar daddy to give them the cash flow they needed.

After the reveal of P5X, I was wondering if Persona 5 wasn't just killing the gachas...

it was absorbing the life of those games to feed their own gacha game.

In all seriousness though, Persona 5 wasn't exactly a gacha killer. It was a case of people finding causation where there was correlation. A more accurate takeaway would be that said gacha games were already dying to begin with and a P5 collab was basically piggybacking off of an established IP to try to regain users, but for whatever reason this gambit failed.

I still don't get why people on the internet are rather allergic to the idea of a Persona 4 remake given how Reload was generally well-received.

I think what I've heard is that Persona 5 isn't really a curse, but even if that couldn't save what gacha it was having a crossover with, it was dead no matter what they could do.

One of the leaks recently is that Sega wants Like a Dragon, Persona and Sonic to be yearly franchises. Which supposedly counts remakes, remasters, and spin-offs... We will probably see P 4 R eventually just to meet that demand.

Did they say Persona or the wider SMT-verse as a whole? Because stuff like a Persona 2 duology remaster or a Digital Devil Saga duology remaster could serve as the "yearly" releases for the latter (not counting SMTW of course).

Just Persona.

They also mentioned that " The current stage of Persona entered development in 2019. The current stage is P6, P 3 R, P 5 T and P 5 X. " [1]

Well we know Persona 6 is on its way, plus the rumored Persona 2 and Persona 4 remakes, and then whatever spinoffs they decide to cook up. I could see it happening.

Yeah, Persona is already rich in spin-offs and redos, They wouldn't necessarily have to change much to make it yearly. I still don't think that's a good goal for fairly obvious reasons, but if they're going for that it's not the worst franchise to choose.

More timing attacks to music. This time, an All Out Attack to P5 music.

This song lies. I anticipated this a long time ago.

I've always wondered about this: If Junpei has 11/22 as his "big win" moment (albeit at a huge price) and Ryuji has the escape from Shido's Palace as his (albeit undermined by the worst attempt at humor that comes right after), then what is Yosuke's "big win" moment?

Do we disqualify Yosuke asking to get punched by Yu in the SL?

Yes. Remember, the right choice is to let him punch you as well, and get into a manly brawl.

Right, so I'm kinda mostly joking, but I would say Yosuke lacks that big win that his predecessor and his successor have.

In fact, of the three of them, I'd say Junpei's win is the cleanest, since Ryuji's does get undermined as [up][up][up] Mentioned already.

And like, Junpei watched the girl he loved die in front of him. That's a weird win. But it's not immediately undermined in any way, beyond...you know, the girl dying part.

I'd say the one drawback of the IT is that their tight-knit team dynamic means that it's hard for the story to give them individual wins.
