Morty has it hard enough as it is. It's Rick that could stand to learn some humility.

My hope is that HBO Max picks it up,

Though if they were axed by Warner/AT&T, i don't know if this is likely. Isn't HBO Max owned by them too?

[up] Yeah, but A, it's their top priority and B, HBO Max is already doing pretty good with its mature cartoons like Close Enough and it being chosen for the upcoming Boondocks reboot.

Plus, the Variety article about the show's cancellation mentioned HBO Max being a possible output to continue it. (Even if it's still in an early stage from actually happening.)

Really? I'm glad HBO Max is doing better. It's a really good service. Way better than Netflix. It feels like a natural home for Venture Bros. (They recently added Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law, another legendary AS show.)

For one thing, it has a much broader selection of modern and classic movies, which is something Netflix has always struggled with, imho. Pretty much every popular movie Warner Bros. has ever made is there. It also has a lot of classic cartoons, from Looney Tunes to 60's Hanna-Barbera stuff to Cartoon Network shows like Dexter's Lab, The Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack (including the new seasons), Adventure Time and Regular Show, etc. Their original series like Watchmen, Lovecraft Country and I'll Be Gone in the Dark are pretty fantastic too.

The biggest drawback is that they don't have as many subtitle options as Netflix. For most shows it's English or nothing.

Andy Forssell, builder for HBO Max chimed in last Thursday about The Venture Bros. and its dedicated fanbase.

The Venture Bros fans are passionate, but incredibly civil. I've received tons of emails, all of which are short very well written notes, oozing with politeness. Class fans. Nothing imminent, but know that we're working on it.

(I'm betting that once Hulu's license to stream The Venture Bros. expires, we should hear an update on this crusade.)

Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Metalocalypse are also getting the same treatment. I know Aqua Teen never has plot, but I'm not sure what kind of state Metalocalypse is in. I think I heard it has an ongoing plot. Did it end on a cliffhanger when it was taken off the air? Did it wrap up its plot points?

Anyway, this is good news. I really hope this ties up all the loose plot threads.

[up]Metalocalypse was one movie away from ending the series and then talks broke down because adult swim wanted a whole season but the creator just wanted to do one more movie. It was just about wrapped up with its whole secret society trying to stop a metal group from disrupting their plans

[up][up][up] I'm pretty sure you nailed it.

Though, I wish they would bring back the full opening sequence that played in seasons 1 and 2.

Metalocalypse basically was in the exact same boat as the Venture Bros, only a little bit further ahead. The last pre-cancellation season was a Rock Opera special, which set all the pieces in play so that the next season would be its last. Then it got cancelled.

Remember how Publick and Hammer were considering doing a graphic novel to finish the Venture Bros? That's basically what Brendan Small did for the story of Metalocalypse, in a roundabout way.

Small couldn't actually use his character names outside of the context of the show. But, he did have a completely separate musical project concept album, called Galaktikon. So basically what he did was put out a second Galaktikon album. If you listen to the songs in disc order, it continues the story of Galaktikon. But if you listen to them in vinyl order, the lyrics very clearly convey the general direction of where the final season of Metalocalypse would've gone, or at least, the events that happened could've been understood by people who followed the show closely enough.

According to [[our thread for that show]], apparently Lazzo didn't like how plot focused it was getting, so he cancelled it.

It gives me the same vibes of "wow, you guys made Moral Orel exactly what we asked for? You did too good a job. End the show now, please."

[up] The stuff we already got. I got HBO Max for free thanks to the AT&T plan my family got at the end of 2020.

But who's to say we can't make new episodes come out by watching it a lot on HBO Max? Plus, we got that movie to look out for.

I guess this means they're not putting out a complete series Blu-ray set, but hey, I'll take what I can get.
