I feel like I would need a chart or a guide or something to keep track of all the movies that have "Amityville" in the title.

According to Wikipedia, there are currently 40 Amityville movies, 30 of which came out in the past decade alone.

It helps that technically, since it's based on a real event and town, anyone can slap the Amityville title on a horror film so long as they don't call it "Amityville Horror".

Looking at the titles, a lot of got weirder than the one with the evil lamp.

There are a lot of arbitrary distinctions being made there. The Thing is the best example I notice is actually on the chart - I found it under "Extraterrestrials - Uses humans as hosts", but it could just as easily be "Extraterrestrials - Tentacled", "Mutated Creatures", or "Mutated or Infected Humans". Samara and Candyman are both "Reincarnated Humans" and not "Possessed Objects" or "Beings of Folklore" respectively.

On the one hand, this is a limitation of it being a two-dimensional poster rather than a virtual web with more connectivity, and it could use at least another top-level category like "Infections". On the other, though, it seems oddly incongruous with horror as a genre to use such conventional material categories, rather than sorting them by what makes them horrifying... especially when a common theme of horror is that liminality and unclassifiability is scary in itself!

I actually hope they make THE DUNWICH HORROR a sequel. Lavinia turns out pregnant by the Color, possibly with her "dad."

Apparently Beetlejuice 2 is happening! The lead character will be Lydia's daughter, and they're eyeing Jenna Ortega for the part. Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O'Hara are all likely to return.

Something tells me no Alec Baldwin or Jeffrey Jones though. [lol]

Gonna be a lot of disappointed people Googling why Lydia's dad died between the two movies.

From RackaRacka, the guys who brought you those viral gross-out Ronald McDonald videos, comes Talk To Me, the Sundance hit about dumbass teens using a severed hand to summon sexually aggressive, murderous spirits.

Wasn't particularly eyebrow-raising just watching the trailer normally, but frame-by-frame, some of those images are incredibly creepy; is that someone being mobbed by ghosts in Hell?

Evil Dead Rise is getting a pretty good reception it seems.

Pretty impressive, that means after now five movies and a three season TV show the Evil Dead franchise has yet to have an installment that is regarded as outright bad. Rather unusual for a long running horror franchise.

There's a 2-to-2 and a half hour cut somewhere in here which would be a great movie, but as is, it feels like a very unnecessary and self-indulgent director's cut. Midsommar and Hereditary are much better than this in my opinion, but it's still pretty good.

I personally feel the film would've been more satisfying had it ended with Beau falling asleep on his mother's couch after watching the funeral tape. It felt like a natural place to end the story and, yeah ok, it would also have given Beau a somewhat happy conclusion. The rest of the movie that happens after that scene, while admittedly foreshadowed and setup, felt like the film was just continuing onward for the sake of it.

I finally realized I've been mixing up Neill Blomkamp and Jason Blum for years. I thought Blomkamp founded a studio after the success of District 9.

Anyway famous youtuber Markiplier has announced his first attempt at a feature film'. An adaptation of Iron Lung.

Not going to lie. Of the hundreds of horror games the guy is associated with. This is an interesting choice to make a film about.

re: Beau: I absolutely could not tell what was real and what was a delusion, and I assume that was the point. I'd have liked it a lot better if it were at least a half hour shorter. The play sequence was gorgeous.

It had some excellent practical effects too. To my surprise I found out that Mr. Wasserman was not CGI but a huge, multi-person puppet, like Jabba the Hutt, and Elaine's dead body was an actual prop too. Both were made by the same person who did Charlie's head in Hereditary!

Been watching a lot of clip, reactions and recaps of Train to Busan.

Not sure if it really counts as horror. It technically is, but it's also kinda an action movie as well.

Most Zombie Apocalypse movies are a bit of action, social commentary and sometimes other stuff.

If I'm in the wrong thread, feel free to let me know, and I'll move to the chatterbox thread instead.

I'd say most zombie movies are horror by default since they tackle pretty scary subjects like death, societal collapse, and rotting.
