Cleared the Meganium raid using a Malamar.

Well that was easy. Didn't even need to use Hydreigon.

I used Annihilape to solo Meganium the Unrivaled.

I probably shouldn't have been surprised they made Meganium female in this raid. I suppose there's a good chance that if we ever get Primarina the Unrivaled, they'll probably make her always female as well.

Do you think they'll ever do the Paldea starters as Unrivaled Pokemon? They might think that's kind of boring, but to be fair, now with the Indigo Disk having all the starters in the Wild, all of them are technically "less special" then they used to be in Tera Raids.

They could also be an Outbreak event.

Didn't even need to use Hydreigon.

Probably for the best since it also had Body Press.

The most surprising thing about Meganium the Unrivaled for me was that she didn't immediately bring up her shield.

Then again, considering she loves to use Curse to buff up her stats, I suppose the devs wanted to give you some time to try and do something about Curse, since shields will prevent several stat changing moves to fail against the raid Pokemon.

So does this raid have "throw Annihilape against the raid" as a viable option, or do I need to build another mon to take on Meganium?

dragonfire5000 and I seemed to have gotten it to work, but I wouldn’t say it’s the best option.

The best moveset for Ape here seems to be Rage Punch, Taunt, Focus Energy, and Bulk Up. Getting someone to keep Meganium’s Attack low (like Staraptor) also helps. If everything goes well then Annihilape should clear with plenty of time to spare.

I ends up clearing the Meganium raid with randoms online (via the in-game lobby), somehow [lol]

Everything just happens to work so well, we still have like, around 1/4 of the timer left by the time Meganium is defeated.

Oh, and.....I'm sure you guys knew already, but Meganium drops herbas. The one I cleared, dropped 3 different herbas.

But my point is, that means it's not just for Kanto Trio raid. If this is going to be a thing from now on.....why the hell did they not just do this since the start??????

Or at least, far earlier than this. The complaints that 7 Star raids are hard enough that they should have dropped herbas, have existed even as far back as January last year, as far as I know.

wild mass guessMaybe the devs thought that Unrivaled raids already dropping several vitamins was good enough?wild mass guess

I know I've certainly kept Unrivaled raids going via not connecting to the Internet for as long as possible in order to grind some vitamins.

Used Annihilape to solo Meganium too. Got lucky with a crit on Rage Fist making the fight way easier.

Taunt to prevent Curse on the first turn, then use either Brick Break or Focus Energy to render the screens a non issue. Then use Rage Fist and Shell Bell to top up health, wait for the raid to reset your stats. Then Tera to Ghost and Bulk Up once or twice. Once your Rage Fist and Shell Bell can reliably out heal Meganium attacks you are set.

AI partners that Intimidate help a lot. So does Bellibolt and its chance to paralyze at the start before the shield goes up.

And of course PP up Rage Fist to its max.

Edit:

Did it again solo without a lucky crit, so this does indeed work. I prefer Brick Break over Focus Energy since I don't like relying on crits too much.

Got mine in a match that I know included a Contrary/Skill Swap Malamar on my second try. The Meganium didn't even use Curse once.

My Skeledirge didn't have the "right" tera type but he still only fainted once the whole match.

Well that's amusing.

People have discovered that the Item Printer can be RNG manipulated via simple time changing. Once you click at the right time, you can pretty much guarantee you get a lot of valuable items.

I randomly got to thinking about how much work must go into making Raid's work, which probably contributes to their glitchiness. Not that it excuses it for not being ironed out. But, Raids exist in this weird combination of battling cooperatively and one-on-one.

The game has to track and stack all the stat changes and effects the players inflict on the Raid Pokemon, and among the teammates. While also having the Raid Pokemon battle each player optimally. On a given turn, its not necessarily hitting you with the same attack that its hitting your teammates with.

I don't know programming at all, but it feels like this is probably at least somewhat complex stuff.

Seems like Walking Wake and Iron Leaves are both coming back in a Tera event. According to Serebii, they'll be around from April 26 to May 6.

There's also an outbreak event themed around gold around that same time period. The outbreaks will feature higher shiny chances for the following Pokemon:

  • Magikarp and Varoom in Paldea
  • Shinx in Kitakami
  • Rellor in the Terarium

Have them and their evolutions (though is the only Shinx that’s not on file). Will probably try Mark hunting them since there’s some I’m still missing.

I'm gonna try so hard to catch a shiny male Shinx and name it Jonesy (after my beloved orange boy kitty who died last year.) If I find a female one, I'll name it for his orange and white sister Jaina who is still living with us.
