Also, as to the backstory war between the Echidnas and the Owls: In the first movie, we were on the Owls' side, because one of them raised Sonic, but now, I guess we're on the Echidnas' side because Knuckles is one?
I think they're trying to go for moral ambiguity there, where it was just an ugly war and no side was truly in the right. The owls and echidnas were wiped out by their conflict, leaving Sonic and Knux respectively behind. Which is why it was such a big deal in Sonic 2 when Sonic and Knuckles buried the hatchet with one another.
So we sympathize with the owls when we're with Sonic and sympathize with the echidnas when we're with Knux, because they're both children of different sides in a genocidal war.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.It's both. He stole the powers of the Flames of Disaster from the Flame Demon. (Potentially Solaris) It's a Victor Gains Loser's Powers situation. Knuckles literally snarked, "Do I look like I need your power?" to Sonic in the first movie. A Call-Back to that occurs in this eponymous series where Agent Mason snarks to Knuckles 'Do I look like I need your power?'
Obscure Reference: "It can sometimes knock out opponents with the shock created by breaching and crashing its big body onto the water. That's why it's so weird they treat Knuckles' dad as a comedic walk-on character in the Knuckles show. They should have used a different character for that.
It's so weird that they use the cruel and greedy Echidna warlord who committed bloody and violent conquest against the Chao peoples, invoking the apocalyptic retribution of the destruction god who lives inside the Master Emerald to rain down and annihilate the entire Echidna civilization as a goofy bit character for like five minutes of screentime, whose main job is just to force the plot along on its rails since the writers couldn't come up with a way to make this premise occur organically.
Everyone else is freaking out about Iblis showing up for a surprise appearance and I'm still over here like, "WTF Pachacamac?!?"

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Pachacamac is at least an echidna from Knuckles' tribe. Iblis in the games has nothing to do with Knuckles. That's why he's surprising.
I do wonder if future movies will go more into detail about the Owls and the Echidnas' war with each other?
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!Gonna be weird if the Sonic movies ever adapt Chaos. Considering Pachacamac's role in his backstory.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Eh, it's not that important really. The Echidna chief who leads the tribe to attack Chaos can be anyone. Tikal is more important.
Why adapt Chaos now? Longclaw already took his role as the Echidna killer.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back.Because seeing Chaos would be dope?
Robin: Don't ever ask me to dock with you again. Serious...Plus being the guy who completely wiped out the Echidnas is a bit less important than the fact that he turned against them in the first place, and you can do the latter without doing the former.
You can replace it with, like, “the Echidnas unleashed Chaos, but he went wild, ravaging the world and their own civilization, and after he was sealed the subsequent conflicts led to the war between the Owls and the Echidnas” and little would change overall.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. Thus still giving a very good reason why Chaos appearing now would be cause for concern. This blue, aquatic, green-eyed... thing... is uncomfortable to hang around.
Robin: Don't ever ask me to dock with you again. Serious......you know, if they decide to make Chaos into a more intelligent and cunning character, instead of a rage-driven monster, I thought of something really scary.
He could unwittingly invoke Sonic's Super Drowning Skills and potentially reinforce/inflict his phobia of deep water by capturing him in a water orb he can't escape from, and this could be an opportunity to make Sonic scared shitless as he tries desperately to get free, but Chaos won't let him. And it looks like he's really about to drown, until he's saved at the last second.
Nightmare Fuel? Oh you bet.

"That we continue to persist at all is a testament to our faith in one another."So Basically the Chaos from Sonic the Comic, then?
Watch SymphogearI actually wonder if Chaos is going to wind up being the explanation for Sonic's blue lightning powers, the way Iblis (maybe?) is for Knux's red lightning powers. Like. The fact that they bothered to take the time to explain that in the Knux show makes me wonder what's coming down the pipe for Sonic.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Maybe I'm crazy, because I've looked through this and the main Sonic thread, and I can't find it, but I remember someone bringing up that scene where Mom asks Knuckles if he's Jewish, and they pointed out that in the Archie Sonic continuity, he basically was.
I know nothing about the Archie continuity but if true that's a pretty neat nod
Just to clarify, I'm talking about a Lost Tribe of Echidnas who left the Floating Island before it took off into the sky, and then spent the next 600 years wandering the planet looking for their original homeland, Albion, by following the guidance of a spiritual leader with the title Mitre, a title which was held by Knuckles Great Grandfather, before he passed it onto Knuckles, who succeeded in finally helping the Lost Tribe find Albion. Also, the Echidnas have religious texts called the Tomes, and Knux's mom in particular is quite religious.

Anyone liked the Sonic 2 pre-quill comic from IDW?
Because it looks like we'll get another one, this time for Sonic 3!
Did Jim Carrey contribute for this one?
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Oh wow! I didn't expect to get another Pre-Quill comic! I wonder how much of the events in this comic will make it into the movie?
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!According to the listings in the official Penguin Random House Canadian site these are tie-in books and not a prequel comic but I wouldn't be surprised if IDW announces one soon.
One thing I was confused on was whether the Flames of Disaster are the show's explanation for Knux's red lightning powers, or a separate thing he has in addition to his red lightning powers. Because the rock opera backstory felt like it was explaining where Knux got his unique Rivals Sonic's Blue Lightning abilities that much of his portion of the show revolved around.
They spend a lot of the show like, "Knux's red lightning powers, we're all about Knux's red lightning powers, we made red lightning weapons out of his powers and we're gonna steal his red lightning powers and also here's a backstory for Knux's powers and they're called the Flames of Disaster." But then he whips out the Flames of Disaster as a separate power with completely different visual effects at the end. So. Like. Which is it?
