On my bid to get back on topic, perhaps that's why movie franchises like the Sonic movies have that advantage: they don't have anywhere near the insane mountain of complexities to struggle to juggle.
Robin: Don't ever ask me to dock with you again. Serious...Yeah and the Sonic movies seem to be focused on telling good stories over trying to put out so much content all at once.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!True. I've also done some thinking on the villains side. Given that most Sonic villains in the games are one-offs and nowhere near as popular as Eggman, they need to start thinking about how they'll manage whenever Jim Carrey fully retires. IMO there's only one game villain with the longevity and popularity to take Robotnik's place, and that's Metal Sonic. They need to think about introducing Metal Sonic sooner rather than later.
I would enjoy Metal Sonic getting a chance to shine as a big bad. Maybe something similar to Stone, where Eggman either dies or goes missing, and Metal is deployed to continue his work. And while he's still mostly dead serious and no nonsense, this version could have a slight flair for the dramatic, much like his creator.
"That we continue to persist at all is a testament to our faith in one another."It would be interesting to see Metal Sonic as the next big bad of the movies if Jim Carrey retires from the role.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!I've seen a couple people suggest the fourth movie could just be a loose adaptation of Sonic CD, so it could introduce Amy and Metal Sonic in one go.
If Jim Carrey really decides to retire for good, they could just have Agent Stone take over as Big Bad.
So… in short, this would be the closest thing we'd ever be getting to see Sonic SatAM's cancelled third season plans fully realized, eh? I'm down.
Robin: Don't ever ask me to dock with you again. Serious...I still remember that great interview when Venom was coming out where Amy Pascal said, "oh yeah, it's totally going to be in the MCU" and Feige was just sitting there next to her trying not to looked annoyed.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I am, yes. Sonic 2 made $405m. The Lion King remake made $1.7b.
If Mufasa takes in half what the Lion King made and Sonic 3 makes double what Sonic 2 made, Mufasa would still win. This is like trying to pit a Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire sequel against Avengers 4. Mufasa is a prequel to the highest-grossing animated film ever made, while Sonic 3 is a hype-as-fuck sequel to a moderately successful film franchise. They're not in the same ballpark, financially.
They do, however, have the same target demographic. Which is bad for Sonic.
Anyways, just watched the Wade spinoff. Man, that was false advertised to hell, wasn't it?
Though I am curious to know why Shadow was at a Reno bowling tournament. What a weird piece of foreshadowing for Sonic 3.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.T He Lion King came out in 2019, Sonic came out in 2022, those results are meaningless so don't get all uppity with it.
While I do think just going by the previous films' gross is far too offhand a method of predicting what will happen with the new ones, I don't think its so offhand an argument that just listing the years those movies came out outright renders it meaningless.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. The Shadow anecdote reminds me of this fanfic where he talked in 50's slang cause that's when he was born/sealed away.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Fact is COVID forced some big changes in the industry, so comparing a movie that came out pre-COVID to one that came out post-COVID is not as simple as just rattling off some box office numbers. Not to mention how many people are just getting tired of the live-action Disney remakes who wouldn't bother going for a prequel to one of them.
The effects COVID had on the box office ended in 2021. Spider-Man: No Way Home and its $1.9b box office take in December of 2021 effectively heralded the resurrection of cinema and return to normalcy.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Sonic 3's destroying the Mufasa film, not even a contest.
Anyways, yeah, feels like the Sonic films have been slowly going into territory many of the older cartoons were wanting to go into for years, but were never really able to before their cancellations. Agent Stone as a potential new villain? Hell, I could buy that.
Robin: Don't ever ask me to dock with you again. Serious...A fringe benefit of having Metal as a recurring villain would be that they can have him voiced by Ben Schwartz. And then, so long as they still have their Sonic actor, they still have their villain.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.My hope is that 4 adapts Sonic 06. Mainly because I think it would be funny to see it done well.

Basically like how Chaos Sonic had Devin Mack voicing him too!
"That we continue to persist at all is a testament to our faith in one another."I think if you put Sonic up against a live action remake of the Lion King 2, I'd say Sonic was losing that fight in a heartbeat.
But prequels are a harder sell a lot of the time, and I'm not sure a Mufasa origin story is guaranteed to be a hitmaker. That Cruella movie where dogs killed her mom didn't do so well.
Well, to bring the MCU again, they managed to more or less adapt two of their most despised stories, Civil War and One More Day, into some decent flicks, at least, so Sonic '06 could have a chance to get something good.
Wake me up at your own risk.@Tobias. Want a friendly bet over which one makes more money?

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Well, I watched Knuckles. Sorry, I think I meant Wade.
Is that one GUN agent from the beginning still stuck on Mushroom Planet? Given that this series is treated as optional, I don't think there's any chance of him being referenced in the next film, so I guess he's just stuck there forever. And then the other two, was the whole bit with the two rings that one was a portal leading to the other one? And then they got sucked into one another and thus destroying themselves? And taking the two agents with them? Because that was unclear. Also, did the supposed main antagonist even get a name?
The main antagonist is the Buyer.
Obscure Reference: "It can sometimes knock out opponents with the shock created by breaching and crashing its big body onto the water.
I do wonder about that...
