[up][up][up] It's what makes Waller so infuriating, she now has Joker God syndrome.

Never fails, never loses, she always keeps winning and the heroes never just ya know punch her in the face.

It's the same issue with Joker where he always come out on top no matter what happens.

[up][up][up]IIRC Amanda was a good person in DC Super Hero Girls 2019 (not the Lauren Faust version, she wasn't even in that one, I think?)

Waller was not in the Lauren Faust DC Girls. And you're right, in the other, earlier version, she was a principal of a high school for superheroes, and thus not evil.

Yeah the first cartoon had her as the principle of the super school all the characters attended.

Granted, given what we know what the likes of the CIA and FBA have done in real life, Waller is actually actually pretty true to life. The main difference being that none of those groups have superhumans at their disposal.

About the most unrealistic thing about her is that she's sometimes played as genuinely well intended, when people like that in real life tend to be motivated more by things like power, greed, or bigotry.

I mean, I guess we're getting Lane to be this show's version of the guy who does morally questionable things but has good intentions, so that's something, I guess?

Well, yeah, and in real life if people got superpowers maybe like 1% of them would become superheroes, but those things are generally supposed to be somewhat uplifting and telling us that we could be better than that.

Or were supposed to anyway.

[up][up][up] That's the issue with realism here.

Yes this Waller is more "realistic" to how a government person would act, but she's a vastly uninteresting character as a result.

She's just so boring, being reduced to a one-note cartoon villain.

Realism should enhance.

And it can and has done that.

But sometimes it feels more like a cudgel to the head to remind us how things really are.

Realism is also about how things would work in that universe, not just why they wouldn't work in ours.

It really shows how terrible a character Waller is now and how terribly handled, a bunch of white people beating up a black woman played by Viola Davis becomes a cheer worthy moment.

And no, I am not saying holding Waller accountable is wrong or anything bad happening to a black character is racist.

There's not really any beating up here.

Waller is a Villain Sue, she never loses. She's an invincible God like Joker.

[up] To be honest I knew that, they just hit her once and knock her out but I didnt know the phrasing for it.

The true racism here was turning one of the few female Afroamericans in comics without a conventionally attractive build from a nuanced person into a caricature Villain Sue.

Goddamm atomic skull looks great.

Right? He looks amazing! I wonder if he will pull a face turn like some versions of Joseph Martin/Atomic Skull.

What is Atomic Skull like in the comics? Because in Justice League Unlimited he was treated as a kinda dumb guy, but mostly harmless. I think he just punched things. However in Superman vs. the Elite he had powers that reminded me of Blight from Batman Beyond, except he turned people into clouds of ash, and was a mass-murdering pile of evil.

...there are two DC Super Hero Girls cartoon?

And remember when DCEU was trying to make her their Nick Fury?

[up][up] IIRC, Atomic Skull's thing in the comics is that the circumstances that gave him his powers broke his grip on reality, so he's under the delusion he's like a B-movie superhero and Superman is his archnemesis.

Which is why Martin has had bouts of heroism. Like during the Superwoman book.

[up][up] yup, the first one was a web cartoon from 2015. I liked their version of bumblebee a lot more. Heck I liked tern titans go bumblebee more than Faust's.

So, I gather Justice League Unlimited hewed closer to his original form, while he was made more evil for Superman Vs the Elite.

As to DC Super Hero Girls, this is the first iteration and this is the second, the one made by Lauren Faust.

Ahh DC Nation, I remember that. I wonder why it didn't last long.

Cause Cartoon Network despises the existence of any DC cartoon that isn't Teen Titans Go.

They make an active effort to stomp any non-TTGO show into the dirt to maintain Go's sole existence.
