Yeah, I can see what you mean, but it’s a trope that we can all be glad didn’t go through for the school. Not when it made more sense for the HOUSE the show was named after to take on the trope.

We have the Wizarding School trope here, so it's obviously common enough to be a trope. And Harry Potter, while the most popular example, is by no means the Trope Maker.

Harry Potter is most famous example of Wizarding School, for better or for worse, so any time somebody with more casual knowledge of that type of story see it they will associate it with Harry Potter. Even if it precedes it.

Like how Hogwarts has chambers of secrets and rooms of requirement. Like, Hexside has only one of those, tops! And it was made by Eda (I think)! So the Owl House could have had so much more secrets if the show was given the time!

Yes, I agree - when Luz started to attend Hexside, there were worries that it'd take over the series and it'd become a standard Wizarding School show, and it's lucky that it wasn't the case after all, the school was there but not central to the plot, which remained focused on the eponymous Owl House.

Honestly, I do agree that keeping Hexside as just a school and not MYSTERIOUS PLACE OF SECRETS was the way to go.
I imagine that role would have fallen to the Owl House itself if the show ran long enough. Like the secrets behind Hooty and the tower…
