The Lego DC DVD movies do the whole shared universe thing well, particularly helped in how each movie stands alone while still remaining internally consistent.

Ernie Altbacker recently took part in an interview. Here's something he said.

"I think that the way we ended it... it’s really like a tough balancing act: It ends something on a bittersweet yet hopeful note, and I’ll just say, people who are saying, “Oh man, we’re not going to get anymore of these!” ...you’re not losing something, you’re gaining something new..."

Damn. That last sentence did not mean what he meant, but I sure as hell will take it the way it sounds.

With the last movie, I have a feeling similar to "Logan", I don't hate them, but I wish they were on their own continuity.

—- Also I can't help but think that the new Mooks are too inconsistent in their power.

They're able to beat heroes like Shazam and Wonder Woman, but they have a hard time beating street-level villains.

[up] Admitably I could't help but roll my eyes when I discovered the all Titans were brutally killed, especially Nightwing, but fucking Robin avoided death when even the likes of Superboy & Starfire couldn't.

Here's hoping Damien gets downplayed in the next batch of movies. Thankfully his relationship with Raven is dead in the water like the Arkham series Tim & Barbara.

Ernie Altbacker took part in another interview. A few of the things he said are how he didn't read Darkseid War, was initially not fond of Damian but grew to like him, and how James Tucker thinks of Apokolips War as the equivalent of getting kicked out of your apartment and breaking everything.

[up] I remembered liking the Static Shock cartoon when I was a kid. The Charlotte Fullerton v. Milestone debacle really is a pain in the neck to even think about...

For context, Milestone announced back in 2017 that it'd be resurrecting itself to publish miniseries and one-shots featuring its heroes like Icon, Rocket, and of course Static in 2018. However, this plan apparently screeched to a halt on August 2017 when Charlotte Fullerton, the widow of one of Milestone's founding fathers, the great Dwayne McDuffie, accused Milestone's other founders for effectively throwing her under the bus by excluding her from the new Milestone. Why raise such a ruckus? Because she inherited McDuffie's 50% share over the original Milestone when he passed away.

That said, on December 2019, Bleeding Cool reported that the lawsuit between Fullerton and Milestone apparently got settled. But since BC's level of credibility is fickle, I don't think anyone took notice. However, during a March 20, 2020 interview with Syfy Wire regarding the DC Black Label title The Question: The Deaths of Vic Sage, Milestone co-founder Denys Cowan revealed this (mildly edited for grammatical correction):

Syfy Wire: So many people are excited about Milestone's return. Can you give us any details as to if or when will happen?

Cowan: There were a couple of legal things that got in the way of Milestone launching originally. Unfortunately, you know, those are the situations that people have to deal with and they happen in life. Those situations have been dealt with, successfully. We're all delighted with the results and now we're moving forward full steam ahead. I can't tell you exactly when you're going to see stuff, but I can tell you that you will see stuff and we'll be able to share some of the awesome things that we've been developing over the years and the new stuff that we're doing now. But we are unshackled, free and we're going to have stuff on the fans really soon and it's stuff that we're really excited about. I can't give you exact dates yet, but it's on and poppin' again.

So the lawsuit DID get dealt with, but when we'll hear anything new about Milestone seems to be anyone's guess now...

I have now watched some clips on youtube (thanks recommendation) and I must say, there were a couple of things that bothered me.

Darkseids voice is imho not particulary convincing. I liked most of his lines, but compared to e.g. his voice from JLU, they are

What is with the constant disdain for Nightwing? Didn't he suffer enough in the previous films?

And honestly, did anyone else think that Darkseid going all Palpatine on Batman undercut this dramatic moment. Him telling Batman to kill Robin would have been enough, he really did not need to add "And take your place as my first servant!".

[up] Maybe Dan DiDio strolled by the writers room for this movie and suggested they put Nightwing in the wringer.

However, DiDio has since left DC, so maybe NOW they'll give Nightwing some ACTUAL respect soon.

I know that’s a joke but I’m pretty he has little involvement in the development of these movies.

It looks like Brandon Vietti is involved with Batman: A Death In The Family. He and Greg Weisman once took part in a Reddit ama talking about an upcoming project. It has people speculating this being a Young Justice tie in .

Wait their giving A Death in the Family a movie?

Huh oh wow. Guess we’re getting the full story after Under the Red Hood simply handled the ending part.

Regarding that news, I do hope the speculation is true that its a Young Justice tie in instead of an actual full length original film; cause, let's face it, Under the Hood doubles as an adaption to that storyline, and unlike Superman Doomsday that movie didn't suck.

It's said to be part of DC Showcase, though given this is the only one of the short films announced last year to not mention who's writing and directing it, it's possible that this is a Young Justice tie in, and they have to keep it secret .

I think this is the first time Richard Dragon has been in any non-comic anything.

I'm digging it. A different angle for a Batman movie, it looks like an original story instead of an adaptation, and it'd be cool to see a proper take on Lady Shiva and Richard Dragon.
