I prefer the MJ tracks as well, but I wouldn't consider it contrarian.

Sonic x Shadow Generations is getting an animated short on Shadow called Sonic x Shadow Generations: Dark Beginnings!

Watch it as part of a panel on Anime Expo 2024 featuring Takashi Iizuka, Kirk Thornton, and Stephanie Sheh on July 6, 2024 at 3:30pm EST/12:30pm PST.

Have questions by 05/31 for a chance to have them answered at the panel!

That seems to be the only possible role for her in this context. The only other role she's had with the franchise is as Zeena.

I knew a new animated short was happening. Can't wait.

I mean, the only other thing I can think of is that Sheh voices a soldier from G.U.N. or human that learns of Shadow's past through a briefing or something, on the chance that Maria appears and is silent. Or hell, both, and the G.U.N. soldier reminds Shadow of Maria.

I might be grasping.

Interesting that the implication seems to be Maria being in the short. And also that they aren't giving any indication who Black Doom will be voiced by.

I mean... it could actually be Zeena. Probably not, but it'd be funny. Aren't the Deadly Six all like hundreds of years old? They pre-date Shadow, chronologically.

YUP, I had it right, that actually is the plan! Someone saw in their email from Sega's PR handler that Stephanie Sheh is indeed voicing Maria!

Oh yeah, Zeno Robinson is moderating, plus there's going to be Alan Wan, Kevin Molina-Ortiz, and Christopher Luc! Who are they? All three men have had extensive involvement in several Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shows! Alan Wan has been in the crew for TMNT 2003, 2012, Rise of, and is the showrunner for the upcoming show featuring the Mutant Mayhem Turtles.

Sheh has the perfect voice for Maria. It's gonna be good.

Sheh definitely has played a lot of characters like Maria. I know most people likely associate Sheh with characters like Orihime or Hinata from Bleach or Naruto, but I can't help but think Kyrie from Devil May Cry 4.

And then from there I can't help but imagine Shadow yelling for Maria like Nero does for Kyrie in DMC 4's cutscenes.
