** Exceptions would be if the abbreviation is official. As in you can see the very owner of the work using it. Sony actually puts "PS2" on the very casing of the Playstation 2.
White Rose Duelist: I think this muddies things further. Better to have no abbreviations than have people trying to figure out what is or is not an official one.
Marq FJA: What about singulars from plurals, e.g. Girl With Guns from Girls with Guns and Character Sheet from Character Sheets?
