Hmm. I must admit this is one of my bigger disappointments for this season and I’m thinking about dropping it. The writing is so simple it’s hard to even talk about because it feels so empty. In particular, they like repeating: “there’s only two ways to lift a witch’s curse!” and “actually, there’s a third way.” Like, we get it.
Manga is absolutely amazing, but I've heard nothing that gives the impression it even sniffs the farts of that. Disappointing, but unsurprising.
Looks like a Spriggan was done here and they updated the 'verse here to make it modern. Interesting mixture, for instance, on having police forces based on European/North American models (including expies of Ford Crown Victorias/Tauruses).
I never expected to see an undead get its lights out by Guideau.
Banging OP.
Interesting to hear that this 'verse has necromancy as a bureaucratic serious business kind of thing.
Was interesting to hear the person who voiced Phanora in English captured her attitude like Hayami.
Two things:
1. Helga's WTF face.
2. The Executioners doing their coup.
Saw a bit of episode 11.
Ashaf being the protag for once last I remember.
Also the manga's on hiatus.
Finally stopped being a lazy fuck and started watching it and man it's actually solid as hell. I also got around to the Helck anime and the first two episodes were also very good. Man, so much great stuff just got slept on HARD.
Putting this up for anyone wanting to discuss The Witch and the Beast. Checked some stuff out. Reminds me of Hellsing/a bit of Berserk if it was set in the roaring 20s or 30s. Uses a lot of Art Deco and Art Nouveau.
Heard that Rowan Gilvie (She had a legal name change IIRC from Beth Lipton) as Guildeau. Man, she's playing against type bigly. Last heard her from Midnight Occult Civil Servants.
