Looks like the manga is getting an anime adaptation;

Quick recap: Ordinary high school student finds out his Childhood Friend is a princess from another world. Now, he must marry her and four other princesses in order to gain magic powers and defeat the Demon King.

Pretty boiler plate stuff, really, but the absolutely gorgeous artwork and grade-A fanservice carries the manga along. Those curious can read it with a Crunchyroll subscription.

The author has some fascinating variety as well as amazing artwork.

The authors are a duo working under one pen-name if I am not mistaken.

I really liked their first work but was disappointed with the second one. And this one seems to be a harem isekai which is already a drawback.

[up][up] It was announced a few months ago, odd you only found out after they posted the actual PV.

Oh, I was sure we'd never get an anime of this. It seemed like nobody ever heard of it. In general, crunchyroll manga feels like it gets buried. We have a page already.

It's more interesting than the basic plot implies, I think. Just to start with, it's not a Will They or Won't They? Supporting Harem; the protagonist gets with the first girl straight off the bat, they admit they're in love and they're married. They're just constantly cock-blocked by everyone else.

It also has enough direct parallels to Lord of the Rings that I'm sure they're intentional.

[up] If I remember right, they're definitely intentional. There was an extra thing from one of the collected volumes that Tolkien was a huge influence on the story.

[up][up] Although, yeah, nobody talks about Crunchyroll's manga collections.

...And if I'd had to hazard a guess, it's because their reader suuucks. I tried re-reading this series after the anime was announced, and it's too small to read on my phone, it's stuck on a two-page spread, and even on my home computer I had to increase the zoom by 175% just to make out everything they're saying. I have my problems with Viz's reader, but it is lightyears ahead of what Crunchyroll offers.

Edit: Oh yeah, and sometimes pages wouldn't load, no matter how many times I hit the refresh button.

Turns out, Crunchyroll's getting rid of its manga collection by the end of the month, so if your want to read the series first, better hurry.

I find it funny that the manga is one of few times where fantasy manga goes heavy on epic fantasy atmosphere.

[up] Yeah, that's something else that sets it apart. In that way, it reminds me of Frieren. Even the current storyline is setting up the fallout after the defeat of the Abyssal Lord, which is somewhat similar to Friren's premise — it's just that Wedding Rings also has big ol' tiddies.

Still feels super weird seeing this get an anime since I remember reading it Eons ago when it first dropped. Lost track of it so this is if anything a good time to start reading it.

So apparently this drops on Saturday. I didn't realize it was so soon.

First episode is out. Anyone watched it yet? I'm still finishing up Spy X Family, and I'd prefer to wait for the dub anyway.

Do we know if a dub is coming, actually?

I don’t know anything about the dub.

Regarding the anime, the art is nowhere near as good, and it’s not like the animation became smoother to compensate. It’s just okay. Serviceable.

[up][up]I did. Animation wise, it's very — average. Compared to the likes of Apothecary Diaries or Frieren, the animation is much cheaper and with a lot less effort, which is a shame, as the original manga had the best artwork. The source material is good, but the anime feels pretty half-assed so far.

Edit: [nja]'d

Also, they fast-forwarded through large portions of the first two chapters. They didn't really skip any important exposition or anything, the just kinda rushed it. And using the original artist's work in the end credits really didn't do them any favors.

Well, that's all unfortunate. This story is actually very good, but it's gone under the radar for a long time. I think most of it can be blamed on crunchyroll manga, which has a terrible reader that no one uses, paired with stamping down hard on any other sources. Toss in the fact that the premise is a bit complicated (more complicated than "reborn in another world with this cool cheat skill and a bunch of hot babes," at least), and it's easy for it to get ignored.

My guess would be that whoever picked it up for an anime has little faith in it and is just trying to steamroll through. Who is doing the anime, anyway?

Good news — Crunchyroll doesn't use that terrible reader anymore!

...Because they got rid of their manga section altogether! There's also no plans to bring any of them back, so now it's impossible to legally read "Tales of Wedding Rings'' online! Hooray!

...I mean, it's not impossible to read that specific manga, because there are physical volumes and plenty of scanlation sites, but still, it sucks.

Yeah, that's a theme. Later in the story, after the final battle, Jade says that since everything is over, Nefritis can come home to him. She says "Ew, no way."

Well, I hope whatever's in that spoiler has to do with the siscon getting punished or something.

Anyway, I'm thinking about dropping the anime and just looking for the chapter I last read. I'm pretty sure I finished the arc where they recruit the beastwoman princess.

Oh wow, you're early on. I don't know about dropping the anime, but yeah the manga continues being good. It's also much easier to find online now, since crunchyroll canceled its manga service and gave up its stranglehold.

English dub announced, too.

I'm honestly just surprised it's an uncensored release, I didn't think Crunchyroll did those anymore. Which makes it mildly amusing that this adaptation has added more nudity than the manga had: the manga didn't start showing nips until after Hime and Satou slept together for the first time.

(I have almost the entire manga on Kindle except the final volume, which isn't available in English yet.)

I’m catching up to the manga now and can I just pump my fist into the air because Satou and Hime actually have sex? Good job, it’s been a long time coming.

[up][up][up] I don't know if its so much Crunchyroll doesn't do uncensored so much as they don't update their shows with the uncut, Blu-Ray version the way Funimation did. Whatever they put online is the version that's gonna be there (usually)
