I think it's because there are tropes regarding Ash, Misty, and Brock as a trio, similar to Team Rocket trio.
Say, where should we place The Legend of Thunder characters such as Jimmy and Marina? Technically, it's part of the same anime continuity like the Mega Evolution Specials characters, yet only Vincent/Jackson actually appeared in the main anime as a character.
Should they be on the Original Series character sheet? Or be given a new page linked to The Legend of Thunder?
Yeah part of why I would've wanted a page for the original trio is to leave room for tropes about the group as a whole. Granted, there is the option to just leave those tropes on the main cast page, but there's a bigger reason that occurred to me why I'm torn on the subject.
The thing is that Misty and Brock aren't really a "duo" inherently associated with each other the way that some fictional characters are. Their association to each other comes through their association with Ash's group, but otherwise they're separate individuals, so if they're sharing a page it feels like there should be a stronger connecting thread.
They're in a sort of gray area where they're not as important as Ash, Pikachu, and TRio, but more important than Ash's other companions. And they both have large byte counts on top of everything else, so idk.
As for The Legend of Thunder, I say make a new characters page and just leave a redirect for Jackson under Johto. That's where they debuted, and Jimmy and Marina don't actually appear in the anime other than a few silent cameos.

Plus, regarding Misty and Brock, there's the fact that Brock appeared in Sinnoh without Misty (Hoenn had Misty's brief guest appearances)

Yeah, go for it, the Original Trio. As for a new character page for The Legend of Thunder, keep in mind of this.
Atila and Hun are part of that special as well (and do not appear in the main Ash series). Professor Sebastian also debuted there, but he did cross over to the main anime.
I'm also thinking about combing for notable characters that only appeared in Pokémon Chronicles to see if we should go for The Legend of Thunder character page... or Pokémon Chronicles page instead. Because many characters in The Legend of Thunder do appear in the main anime.

Oh true, Attila and Hun should be moved as well. If there are enough notable Chronicles characters then I support merging it with The Legend of Thunder.
If no one has any more suggestions for this new index
then I'll probably start the change tomorrow, unless someone else wants to do it instead.
The only major ones for Chronicles are the characters from the TRio episodes. As for Kinso (The Blue Badge of Courage!) and Corey DeMario (Those Darn Electabuzz!), I'm personally not sure.

Maybe give other groups "In General" folders then?
Double checked the other Pokémon Chronicles characters, and none of them are recurring characters beyond those we meet in the main series. Silver is the only one who has some value as a character... but that's mainly for the whole Ash's father thing. So we can just give Legend of Thunder their own character page for the time being.
I also realize that the Pichu Brothers don't really have a character folder despite being major recurring Pokémon (which we cannot put in the main series because they're mostly the focus of the Pikachu shorts). We need to remedy that.
Also, the Pokémon Movie character page has become too big. I think we should consider the possibility of giving each Pokémon movie it's own character page since it's not like we're going back to Pokémon anime movies anytime soon.
What about the mother and daughter who first appeared in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew? They've appeared in most of the main movies except for Manaphy and the Temple of the Sea and Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction, the three reboot films, Mewtwo Strikes Back - Evolution, the main series (Mega Latias and Latios for the Mega Evolution Journal, SM090) and even the short A Ripple in Time!
I'd say they're recurring characters.
Would the Pichu Brothers go on the movies page? If so then yeah the movies will likely need to be split soon.
Part of me wanted to suggest moving Mewtwo to the original series page since it technically did appear as a recurring OS character (and even returned in Journeys), but the OS page is already getting long itself, and there's still more characters that could potentially be added. Mewtwo should have a redirect folder though.
Alright, I added in the "In General" folders for each of the main cast (and spent a lot of time picking out the images that best reflect the group dynamic). And I added the Invincible Pokémon Brothers since technically they appeared in two episodes and play a crucial role in Misty's story. Still planning to add new characters based on importance and recurring nature. If the page becomes too big, we may need to split it into Kanto and Johto section.
As for Mewtwo, yes a redirect folder is needed. We also need to split the Movie Folder page regardless. The Pichu Brothers operate in the Pikachu shorts series, so they are not technically part of any Pokémon movie... But they are attached Pokémon movies so people associate them with the movies. That's makes them hard to categorize. Maybe in recurring movie characters as a technical cheat?

Yeah, the Pichu Brothers could be recurring given they appeared in multiple shorts, two movies and two manga and the mother and daughter given that even though they first appeared in movie 8, they've gone on to appear in most of the films as well as the alternate timeline of I Choose You!, Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution, A Ripple in Time! and two appearances in the main series.

Speaking of pages that are too long, I'm gonna try to trim some of the fluff off of Ash and TRio. They deserve their own pages for sure, but there's a lot of walls of text that really do not need to be that wordy.
What about the mother and daughter from M08 given that they're recurring characters?

I feel like they should stay on the Lucario movie page personally. That's the only place they have any effect on the plot and all their cameos are basically just Easter eggs.
I was wondering if this could be added under Charizard's section: Riddle for the Ages: It's never really explained why Charmander became such a massive jerk after evolving until ''Charizard Chills!" There's also the fact that Ash got the Earth Badge which is supposed to compel all of the trainer's Pokémon to obey them but Charizard remained disobedient until the aforementioned episode. I have read the Fridge Brilliance page as to reasons why but we never got an official explanation.

Badges are supposed to be indication of your prowess as a trainer. Since each Gym Leader gets progressively harder (in theory) when you collect more badges, a traded Pokémon would understand that you are capable of handling them because you have beaten far tougher opponents. This is also why Pokémon you legitimately caught and your Starter Mon ALWAYS obey you even if you mindlessly grind to Level 100 before getting the first badge. They know you from the start.
It's also to prevent player from cheesing the game by trading a Level 100 Mewtwo into a new save file. After all, why would Mewtwo obey a newbie trainer who has no proof that they are capable of handling them?
Ash's Charizard disobedience has nothing to do with game mechanic. It has everything to do with Ash's lack of experience of handling a stronger Pokémon than he's used to. Dawn had the same problem with Mamoswine. Iris with Dragonite. Even Misty with Gyarados. In the anime, trust has to be earned by what the trainer does for their Pokémon.
I notice that some of the images on the anime character subpages are really low quality. Like really low quality, likely as a result of the pages heralding from the early 2009-2010.
Now it would easy to just replace them all, but I think that since the Ash's anime has come to end, it would be best to have a Image Pickin' thread to get high quality images or a consistent theme.
Unfortunately, the max limit has been reached already, so we may have to wait a bit.
Thinking the Team Hand-Stack scene could fit better for XY Main Cast picture.
I would like to see it then.

Aside from the not removing the revision on the links (you should remove them in regards to wikia pictures).
The first one doesn't really show Dedenne, which I think is rather essential for any group given that Dedenne is pretty much the Team Pet aside from Pikachu.
The second one has Dedenne, but Bonnie's face is not facing the camera. To me, an essential group shot must have all the characters facing towards us, and it's highly preferable to have the walking Pokémon out whenever possible.
How's this then?
Not sure about making 'Original Trio' page when it's still going to be just Misty and Brock. It makes the page name non-indicative and doesn't reduce the subpage number. I agree Misty and Brock appear in the series enough to put them on the 'series-wise' tab.
