Yet it's Suicide Squad they keep pushing specifically all the time.

With the upcoming Suicide Squad Isekai anime, the director has actually went on record saying he instead wanted to do a Flash anime but was unable to because the company said "No you can only do Suicide Squad, no one else."

WB is obsessed with this series, constantly giving them more and more chances to try to force them into being the next mega franchise.

They really want their own Guardians of the Galaxy but they forgot what made GOTG work.

Weren't Aquaman 2 and Black Adam actually "less bombs" in hindsight of their box offices?

If you want a actual answer as to why the Suicide Squad is being pushed it's almost certainly because DC tried to differentiate itself from Marvel's colorful saturday-morning-cartoon-come-to-life success by appealing to the "Grim and gritty" and violent aesthetic and the Suicide Squad are the perfect embodiment of that as a concept.

Like DC animation released a string of animated features with tons of Gorn in the last couple years.

Yeah, it seems like DC wanted to be darker and edgier than Marvel by using the Suicide Squad as an example. But, if they are using the Suicide Squad from the 2016 version (you know, the version that ended up tanking), then they are in big trouble.

It definitely would make more sense to make games based off of Aquaman and Wonder Woman, since they both had better receptions than the Suicide Squad. But, since it appears that DC will be rebooting their movie universe soon, it would make this game useless in the grand scheme of things.

Yeah for some odd reason DC really stuck to the "watch us guys we're darker and edgier!" in video games. For some strange reason Multiversus of all places has a more family-friendly look.

Speaking of Wha Happun, apparently Fallout 76 turned itself around?

It's... better? It's no No Man's Sky but last I played it was at least functional with what it tries to accomplish as a video game and up to the same quality as Fallout 4, instead of the initial state as an Obvious Beta. I'm not sure how predatory or potentially Pay-to-win the cash store is these days however.

I follow Kevduit who plays it and yeah it has massively improved. It's why when it got an influx of new players due to the show they thought it was decent.

Also my slight issue with the suicide squad video. Is because the game is still running. The people he's talking to cant give big juicy info till after it's finished. Wonder if hell do a sequel after it ends next year with those details.

What impresses me about Squad is just how poorly constructed it is on every level.

Like you probably heard about how people can't believe the Squad can take on the JL, well that's partly became the game itself doesn't sell the Squad well.

They suffer from massive cutscene incompetence. One of the games primary criticisms is that from a story perspective the Squad is completely useless, they are getting their asses kicked in cutscenes where they are theh rescued or stand around doing nothing watching someone else move the plot along.

They only become competant within the gameplay meaning the game essentially cheats itself. In cutscenes the Squad are a total bunch of losers and morons, but when the player regains control they are suddenly able to harm the JL.

The worst of it I feel is when the Flash shows that he can just kill the Squad instantly by taking out Lex's heart before anyone could notice, but doesn't attempt to do that to the Squad. Made all the more egregious by the fact that Brainiac wanted Lex alive so that he could steal all the info out of his brain. Like, why did Flash kill that target he wanted alive but not the group of people with guns that destroyed a big ass cannon 5 minutes ago?

I think it's clever how in the logo,◊ the "C" in Suicide is also the "U" in Squad.

There, that's all the praise I have for this.

Thank God for Main Character Plot Armor.

I'm still baffled that this has an audience... and that apparently it came out this year. Somehow I thought it came out late 2023.

Funny enough, people were finding the idea of a group of comparedly normal characters taking on a super powered entity in the original Suicide Squad movie to be incredulous and laughable. Then this game tries to have that same group go after a whole team of Supers.

I also think Injustice has done a number on fans over the years with the supers as bad guys and are just tired of it, much like the What If story of "Superman...but a BAD guy!" then repeated 8 billion times.

It really is weird Multiversus is the only WB product that is bright and colorful rather than dour and mature.

The only dour thing about that game is its nonexistent marketing.

About the only defenders this game has is those who like the gameplay.

Like the story has defenders however little there are, but the majority of the praise I've seen from the few people actually playing it are those who genuinely enjoy the gunplay and advance mobility options from moving around in the combat.

What astounds me more about KTJL is how late it was about to just everything it was annoying about, it was late even to it's own staleness. It's like if the captain of the Titanic saw another ship straight ahead crash into the iceberg and he refused to budge an inch.

Make a game about killing the Justice League at a time when there are so much "wot if Superman was le evil" stories out right now are making people long for the days when his pureness was played straight! Make a looter-shooter live service when people are BEYOND SICK of those, especially after the last superhero live service game (the avengers one) crashed and burn horribly! Make a game headlined by Harley Quinn when everyone is getting sick of her overexposure and lack of actual character depth and development! Make yet another Joker that tries way too hard to be original when everyone is getting sick of stupid Joker variations!

And yet, WB isn't paying attention since they want to keep throwing live service games into a market that's either saturated or a proven failure.

The last i heard, few days ago, the game hit new lows in regards to players still playing the game. It had influx, but said influx dissapeared after a couple of weeks, from what i heard.

I will admit, the gameplay does look kinda cool...

But unfortunately the rest is a trash fest.

I think a game like this would have done better...if it was actually released around the time it was first greenlit.

But that was over a decade ago.

You know, ironically, I'd argue the timing wasn't that bad, and that the Squad's reputation had been on an upswing. Between TSS and Peacemaker arguably being the most beloved entries in the DCEU and Harley Quinn being almost unanimously liked by those who watch it (which isn't to say that everyone likes it, as a lot of people just don't watch it), I'd say that if this came out one, one and a half years earlier it would've been the perfect time for brand synergy.

Instead they waited long enough for the iron to cool, but not long enough to make the game appealing enough in its own right.

Its one of the weird bits about the game, its entirely synergized with strictly the Ayer film. Sure King Shark is in it but he's already a commonplace member of the team before Gunn's movie.

Like the DLC roster got leaked and we aren't getting Bloodsport or Peacemaker despite Gunn's movie happening long enough ago that they should very well be aware of the film and character's popularity.

Instead after Joker we're getting a gender-bent Mr. Freeze (instead of his wife Nora who is a supervillain at times or another actual ice-themed villain like Killer Frost) and an OC of all things, Deadshot's daughter named Lawless, and Deathstroke.

All Batman characters too, like not even another Flash rogue or anything.

That's DC being DC. Crisis of Infinite Earths somehow has focus on Batman despite not having Batman as a focus in the comics.

As for restoring the public's perception of Suicide Squad itself… it isn't impossible. James Gunn has a magic touch from what I've seen thus far, The Suicide Squad is a genuinely fantastic film, and they can get back on their feet and recover before long.

…But yeah, no, the game? Yikes.
