Depends if the author decides to indicate in the manga if it happened.
Seems to be more of a thing now
I hope not, unless the stuff in the movie is actually included in the manga. I always hate it when works do "watch this Spin-Off in a different medium if you want to understand the full story".
"Indicating it happened" is not the same as "needing to read it", unless you're trying to get an achievement for 100% completion.
The Revolution Will Not Be Tropeableplus "we had a winter vacation" is not the kind of thing that would be immediately apparent as a Continuity Nod

Yeah, My Hero Academia has canon movies and a canon spinoff and you'd never know outside the odd crowd shot or mention of Shield inventions.
Is hard to put the implications in the canon. Not probably for the destiny of the Forgers, but for the status quo of the countries involved, specially when the movie was screened almost at the start of the second season and the episodes does not show any consequences...
Otoh it does reinforce the importance of Operation Strix. If the two nations are that close to war, then it would mean that tensions are such that the Forger's efforts are indeed vital (even if only Loid and maybe Anya are aware of it)
More sad flashback shenanigans and in a good way.
I was right when I predicted Martha would enlist
You can always trust manga flashbacks to bring the feels.
My heart broke for Martha when she learned the ballet company she wanted to join were killed in an air strike. With so much war going on now IRL, it really makes you think of how much just gets snuffed out over petty political feuds. GOD why is this comedy manga giving me so many feels on heavy real-world issues!?
Fuck, forgot this one updates today...
Well, War Is Hell exists for a reason...
It’s sad how war became just a fact of life. Kids gossip about people dying in the school halls.
It seems like Ostania and Westalis have gone to all-out war at least twice in living memory, once in Henderson’s generation’s youth and once in Loid’s.
And people on both sides seem hellbent on restarting it during Anya's youth.
Disgusted, but not surprisedI think one of the students talks of human experimentation on PO Ws in a joyous manner

Remind me, which of these countries is supposed to be the Russia/Germany analog and which is gonna be the US/England?

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.Westalis is the "US-side" while Ostonia is the "Russian-side".
Edit: Googling to check for the correct spelling showed there is people asking if they are real. Huh.

Yeah… the way they attack each other really shows a grey and grey morality…
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. The radio claims this war as a campaign of unification. Which makes me wonder if the two countries used to be one or not. Or they were separate polities to begin with and the claim of unification is their way of saying "just cause"

I mean, it's pretty clearly West and East Germany inspired.
Secret SignatureWhich doesn't in any way mean that these fictional countries share any specific history with their real-models. There's still room for the story to deliver any possible reason for the start of the war.
It kind of occurred to me this story is almost like every war romance except its the girl who decides to enlist and leave.
At the very least it seems Ostania and Westalis have been divided at least a few decades longer than real-world West and East Germany were, given they were already bitter enemies when Henderson, who’s now in his seventies, was only a teenager.
I can’t recall any mentions of superpowers like the US and Russia backing the respective sides, either.
Perhaps it's more apt to call Westalis the Germany stand-in, and Ostania the Poland stand-in... either that or Austria stand-in.
Robin: Don't ever ask me to dock with you again. Serious...Per the title, the main thing the series takes from the Cold War is the spycraft. The rest of the setting is mostly a way to have as much espionage operations as possible in the family's vicinity.
I think the movie is non-canon anyways?
With a '0', not an 'O'
