Welcome to the Trope Pantheons thread! Please read the rules:

    Rules
Rules. The following are not suggestions or tips, but things that have to be followed:
  • When writing a profile, take note of the following:
    • Gods cannot be followers or high priests for obvious reasons. The 'gods' have ascended meaning there is no need for said character to be a follower of another if they have ascended.
    • No hype profiles, please. 'Hype Profiles' are profiles that have been made out of ongoing events and have not been around for a long time. This creates 'hype' due to popularity and certain elements either through certain scenes, memes, dramatic acting or considered overly awesome. They are not bad tropes but building a portfolio solely for that is a bad idea, as they do not say a thing about representing the trope best (unless it's those trope concepts that they are trying to embody for a long time)
      • You can see one if the profile is only showing off how awesome they are or suddenly pushing how 'significant' they are thanks to the just very recent events rather than respecting the longstanding good representations of the trope. And usually having... minimum portfolio or flavor texts and being a bit too generalized or self-contained to events from within their home series instead of interacting with other Pantheon members.
  • When posting in the forum, take note of the following:
    • When you suggest a God, please explain why they fit the trope. Not everyone is going to understand just "X should be the God of Y because they exemplify the trope" off the bat, especially if they're unfamiliar with the work.
    • You must use the Trope Pantheons discussion thread in the forums if you wish to add a new deity, story, something else of importance to the Trope Pantheon canon, or reworking an existing deity (be it simply improving their existing profile or changing their title).
      • For new and reworked deities, 3 [tup] means the profile will have a one week waiting period.
      • For new and reworked deities, 4 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 5 [tup] is an automatic ascension for new and reworked deities.
      • Speaking of reworks, for anyone that wants to improve such profiles, they have to review the current trope the character(s) has and see if it still holds up or if there is a better rep for their trope.
    • For adding new Treasures to The Great Treasury or new Dominions to the Dominions, the following rules apply:
      • For new Treasures or Dominions, 3 [tup] is a 3 day waiting period.
      • 4 [tup] is an automatic addition to the Great Treasury or Dominions.
    • Do not repost a profile in the forums more than twice in a day if noticeable changes have not been made in between. If a profile is posted a third time in a row without noticeable alterations, it will be downvoted. This is so spamming of no-effort profiles is less frequent and to prevent tropers from getting aggravated seeing the same profile over and over. The minimum acceptable change has to be a single flavour text.
    • The Pantheon is not a mouthpiece for you to voice your opinions on certain characters. You may like certain characters more than others, but do not make the mistake of making profiles for characters you like look like Character Shilling.
    • Tropers new to the Pantheon are barred from approving or downvoting profiles until they have ascended at least two profiles.
    • Do not include fan reception in any profiles. It has nothing to do with the character themselves and will create unnecessary conflict.
    • Write a detailed explanation on why the character is the best candidate for deity of that trope. If people disagree with you, do not force it on the people.
    • Keep in mind that if you still want to try to find a trope for a particular character, you are only given three chances to find a particular trope for them. If a suggestion goes past three possible tropes, then it will come off as shoehorning a character into the Pantheon just for the sake of that character to be there.
      • On a related note, even if a character does have a free trope being suggested, there is still a limit of three attempts for suggesting that character for that trope. If no one responds to that certain proposal after being posted three times, then it will get to the point where the idea will be seen as being shoehorned into the Pantheon. In addition, the idea needs to be considered acceptable and approved because they are good, not for the sake of pitying others because no one is responding to their idea.
  • When posting Pantheon related stuff to the wiki, take note of the following:
    • Do not put a link to these Pantheon pages into the main wiki page. The moment you want to add in a main Characters page that the character is a God of this trope, do not do it. If you see leftovers of this practice, inform the forum and use the cutlist. This also goes to the Trivia page. The only exception to this rule is if a page in the Pantheon could be confused for a page in Main, like Good Colors, Evil Colors and Good and Evil Colors.
    • Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment ALSO applies here. Do not bring things that would incite fights, even if it is what is currently the hot topic and might be 'urgent'. For example, the political scene and some really bad politicians. We are not here to fight at each other, so don't suggest things that go to that direction, this is a fictional Pantheon after all.
    • To add a Pantheon page for a certain work, 4 or more characters coming from the same series/franchise should be ascended before adding the page. For Creator specific pages, 4 deities coming from the same creator and 2 individual work pages coming from the same creator is the minimum to warrant a page.
    • Do not create a trope page for a story until the story is fully completed.

    Instructions and Tips
Here are some tips one should keep in mind when editing:

  • Preparing to write:
    • First thing to do before present a profile is to go to the Trope Pantheons discussion thread. In the forums, you must discuss with other users on adding ideas and seek their approval with sound reasoning. You can also get some assistance in the forum thread by either asking for help and those interested asking if they can help. Submissions that are added without discussion are likely to be deleted and those who violate those rules by adding Pantheon content without discussion will get reported to the mods.
    • If you feel the need to remove a character for some reason (poor quality, outdated titles, etcetera) and replace him/her with another or outright rework, please see what the other tropers think about this in the discussion thread before doing anything hasty. Use good reasoning to see if your idea can easily replace the character present without drawing out your statement or giving too ambiguous claims most do not understand.
    • Please be sure to consult others in the discussion about what you want to work before making the profile. This is done to see if your proposal is the best representative and so, in case your profile is turned down, you do not waste time writing something that others might not find suitable.
      • In the same vein, if you adopt a profile from another troper, it is recommended that you make an announcement that you have done so on the discussion thread. More often than not, a trope that was reserved for something was given away to someone else. Check the Related tab on the top of a page to see if a trope or character has been reserved by a user.
    • If, for whatever reason, you are writing about a God who just happens to be a person in real life, just try to be very careful about what you decide to say. Do not try to make the editing seem too meta (self-referential) and use the aformentioned creativity to create hypothetical scenarios towards fictional characters.
  • When writing a profile for a character, here are a few things to note:
    • All deities should be sorted by their divine ranking. Put Overdeities on the top of the page and Quasideities on the bottom. Also be sure to add them in alphabetical order by their first/given name (can be reversed if it is Eastern ordered). For a group, if there is no official name for them all list down all their names by order of relevance or (if too long to list) title them as Insert Name Here Main Characters or some other identifiable title along the same lines.
    • The maximum number of tropes that a god can have is two, but do not try to abuse that fact. If you need to use a second trope to specify a certain thing about their position, that can be excused either because said character represents their trope choice very well alongside the first trope. It is still generally encouraged to only have one trope.
    • A trope can only belong to one profile at a time. The only time two profiles can share a trope is if there are explicit variations listed in the trope page proper (e.g. Muscle Angst is held by both Biscuit Krueger and Chihiro Fujisaki as the former represents "Too Much Muscle" and the latter represents "Not Enough Muscle")
    • If the character you are about to add to a House already exists in another, make sure to mention that this person has spots in other House as well. Up to 2 places can be made for a deity, with the sole exceptions being those at the Main House to highlight those characters’ importance to the Pantheon’s lore.
    • For a character's theme song, try to avoid calling it "Theme of God X" or "Theme of (Show where God X originates from)". If possible, try to find out if the song has an actual name through research. Most importantly, it has to be part their series’ official soundtracks from media. Do not list songs that are made by fans or outside sources. If they were not specifically used as music for that specific character, then they do not count. Furthermore, it has to be a general theme specifically made for that characters’ appearances, not some generic music that plays for many other instances not related to the character in question.
    • For images, when adding an image for your chosen character, it is highly recommended to use a stylized image that embodies the character or renders that also highlights a character’s behavior (such as cool poses). Most images should be from the main adaptations of the character, unless the images from the other media are of a higher quality than the adaptation. Unless it is needed, do not use fanart for images. If you are, please attribute to the original artist. Due to the website’s dark mode, removing white backgrounds from an image is paramount. This website is suggested to do the background removal. If an image you have takes up too much bytes, it is suggestible to use this site to reduce the byte size. If the byte is still too big, put the compressed image to other sites (or even the same one) to compress even further. Use wikias to look for better images, as even wikias for the series might not contain good official images.
    • Creativity is your friend. While it is not recommended to get too ditzy at your ideas, it is best that when writing a profile for a certain character, do you think of capable scenarios between X and Y. Tip: do not use shallow examples (X wields a sword and Y wields one too) and try to think of relationships that makes sense (i.e those characters that are shout-outs for another).
  • Pantheon Content:
    • Some series or genres will eventually have greater representation in the Pantheon than others. This is unavoidable, but a little diversity helps to make you not look like a shill per say. Try to ensure that if you add a deity from a popular series, make sure that it is because they are a good representative for the trope in question, and not just because they are connected to another deity in their respective canon.
      • As far as deities from actual mythologies, there is generally expectation to build the profiles off interactions from fictional portrays rather than basing it entire from the actual myth. Therefore, a mythological deity should be more of a Composite Character whose main identity is from the actual myth.
    • Occasionally there will be Gods that carry a title without a trope. This is not forbidden, but it is well advised not to abuse them. The only house that a tropeless profile are wholly allowed is the House of Food. Mainly due to most food items lacking tropes, and adding tropes about said foodstuffs is slightly unnecessary. However, the character being ascended for their choice of a food, or food-related thing must be a decently good representative of said item. (i.e their Trademark Favorite Food, or something that they are closely associated with In-Universe, or both).
    • For Dominions and Treasures profiles, always consider what made those places/objects popular in the first place. Were they plot-important, identifiable imagery or have a unique aspect of it? Do not just bring regular objects under the basis of following a certain canon.
  • For Profile Standards:
    • Flavor text is used to describe certain things about a character, place or object. To avoid short ones, it is recommended to write flavor text with 4-7 sentences that can fill around 2 lines each. Be warned that adding too many sentences does not equal good flavor text as it is not an essay of sorts (unless words are substantial and do add to the overall line).
    • Character Profiles of a certain person should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 7 (at the minimum) tropes describing their character.
      • Flavor text count for a deity profile should have by minimum, 10 (depending if the character in question has enough relationships/characterization) to 15 with a maximum of 20-25 for an individual profile.
      • On the other hand, group profiles (profiles of a group that has 4 or more members) have their maximum flavor text count to 15 minimum, giving individual lines for the other members of the group (unless the members are not as characterized) up to 30 at max.
    • Dominion profiles of a certain place should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 5 (at the minimum) tropes describing the context of the place.
      • Flavor text count should range at least 10 to 15.
    • Treasure profiles (inanimate objects without a trope) should have the following:
      • A portfolio that contains at least 6 (at the minimum) tropes that describes the object itself.
      • Flavor text count should be at least 7 flavor text up to 12 to constitute a treasure profile.

    Divine Ranking System
  • Overdeity: Omnipotent-level Reality Warpers capable of manipulating the entire universe (or at least the world) at will. Within their own universe they are believed to be omnipotent, or at least impossible-to-completely-destroy embodiments or concepts.
  • Greater Gods: High-level Reality Warpers and that are extremely powerful (capable of destroying or changing anywhere from a large city to a planet at will) and very strong non-reality warpers capable of doing the same thing.
  • Intermediate Gods: Deities at this level are capable of strong but specialized powers such as hydrokinesis, pyrokinesis, etc. without major drawbacks and low level Reality Warpers capable of affecting their immediate area at will.
  • Lesser Gods: Capable of highly specific or little power on their own, or suffer from Power at a Price. However, they may be able to ruthlessly exploit their power or combine it with just being badass enough to make up for it.
  • Demigods: Basically the Badass Normals of the pantheon, making up for their lack of abilities with strength, strategy, and/or planning.
  • Quasideities: Any otherwise normal human, human equivalent, or below without any special powers or training will fall here.

    Templates
Template for adding a new deity:

God X, God/dess of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Rank: This can range from Quasideity, Demigod, Lesser God, Intermediate God, Greater God, to Overdeity, based on representation of power mentioned above.
  • Symbol: An image or icon used to represent the deity.
  • Theme Song: Official song (in other words, no fan music, regardless of quality) that usually is used in affiliation with the character. If the deity is a musician this will most likely be their Signature Song. If possible, give a link for reference, preferably on either a website like Soundcloud or YouTube.
  • Alignment: Good, evil, neutral etc. Forget about The Great Character Alignment Debate here, the Pantheon is one of the few places where you can assign Dungeons & Dragons alignment to characters that don't have alignment system. After all, the Pantheon is based on D&D and is made for fun.
  • For Pokémon deities only:
    • Gender: Defines the gender of the Pokémon; if genderless, it instead defines what gender they identify as.
    • Ability: Provides the Pokémon's ability. If they can Mega Evolve, the new ability is listed as well.
    • Moves: Defines the four moves used by a Pokémon. A Z-Move may also be listed.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the character.
  • Domains: Things that the character has influence over.
  • Herald: Non-ascended loyal character that is from the same series as the ascended character.
  • High Priest: Non-ascended like heralds, but not from the same series, and can serve as a worthy replacement in case something would happen. They can be served as part-time workers in case the originals are busy with some jobs. Co-Godhood is accepted depending on the approval of the originals, usually if the co-deity is from the same series.
  • Followers: Non-ascended characters that are not part of the Pantheon, but would probably worship this character by the fact that they share the ascended character's trope.
  • Relationships between ascended characters go here with your chosen character, it goes something like this:
    • Allies: Members of the Pantheon that are allies, those that share the same values as them and would theoretically be friends with them.
    • Rivals: Members of the Pantheon that are rivals, people who may look at your character with suspicion or a challenge.
    • Enemies: Members of the Pantheon that are foes, those who would see your chosen character as a threat, either on their pespective or yours.
    • Additional Character Relationships: Members of the Pantheon that do not fit in various relationships (examples include Enemy Mine, Vitriolic Best Buds, Teeth-Clenched Teamwork, Headbutting Heroes, Friendly Enemy, Friendly Rival, Just Friends, etc.), allies, rivals, or enemies.
    • Partner: Defines a partnership with an ascended deity and Mon-type. (if any)
    • Feared by/Fears: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon notably fear or are feared by.
    • Respected by/Respects: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon respect or are respected by.
    • Opposed by/Opposes: Not necessarily the same as "Enemies", but this is used for any deity whom the members of the Pantheon directly opposes or is opposed by (basically the opposite of "Respects") terms of certain viewpoints, regardless of alignment.
    • Pitied by/Pities: A deity whom the members of the Pantheon feel pity for or are found pitiable by.
    • Conflicting Opinion: Sometimes, the Deities argue over specific themes and philosophies.
  • Add the Intro. The intro is made up of two trivia, the Ascension Text (or just the Ascension) and The Bio. Both are necessary, but which order you use for them may vary depending on the profile in question. It may be better for one profile to have The Bio first and the Ascension second or vice-versa, although for the most part the order is irrelevant:
    • The Ascension Text: This the story of how the character got into the Pantheon and/or was ascended. There are many ways for this to happen. They may be tricked into it or have simply wandered into the Pantheon, they may have had an already ascended character bring them in, they may already be in the Pantheon (via being another deity's Herald or sharing a trope) and got "promoted", or some combination of the above. Anything is possible in the Pantheon, so use your imagination, but try to incorporate their trope into the story, if possible.
    • The Bio: A brief synopsis on the character's backstory. No need for the character's entire life/production history, but just give enough that those who don't know the character can get an idea of how the character works.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Deities/Characters is 10-15 (15-20 for group profiles) at minimum to 20-25 (30 for group profiles) at maximum.

Template for Dominions profiles:

Place X, Place of (Insert Trope Here) (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Alignment: Refers to the dominion's role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the dominion.
  • Domains: Things that the place has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the location has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the dominion is linked to, note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said dominion, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Dominion is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Dominions is 10 at minimum to 15 at maximum.

Template for Treasure profiles:

The name of the item in here (Alternate names/Nicknames, Fan Nickname)

  • An image, if possible. Please use official art or a screenshot for a picture.
  • Appearance: A shortened description of the item's looks with some notable features also mentioned.
  • Class: Refer to the Treasure Classification System in the Great Treasury.
  • Alignment: Refers to the objects' role in their story, be it those used by villains or used by the Player Character.
  • Theme Song (Optional): Not important as compared to Deity and Dominion profiles but a notable mention if there is an accompanying song in use with the object.
  • Museum Check: A note that says whether the item is viewable by the public.
  • Portfolio: Tropes associated with the item.
  • Domains: Things that the item has links to.
  • Relationships (Optional): Unless the item has a connection with a specific deity, relationships are optional and may not be required. However, if there are deities linked to the same series as where the item is linked to (especially the original owner of the item), note them using the relationships, this includes deities that theoretically have interest with said object, good or evil otherwise.
  • Add the Intro. Here the introduction of the Treasure is added with some tidbits regarding the origins of its' creation and usage in the story. You can also add what made it popular/iconic/important here.
  • Now add some random trivia/facts about events/alignments/moments/fights/friendships/relations etc.
  • And some more trivia/facts.
  • And a couple of more.
    • Note: Standard amount of flavor text for Treasures is 7 at minimum to 12 at maximum.

The Archipelago, Home of the Background Magic Field (The Enchanted Isles)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/impossible_creatures_archipelago_map.jpg

  • Fantastical Settings
  • Description: A chain of 34 islands in the north Atlantic, ranging in size from a town square to Denmark.
  • Symbol: The Gilmourie Tree's apple
  • Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
  • Portfolio: Fantastic Nature Reserve, home to a World Tree that grows under a Weird Sun, its inhabitants know little about the outside world, Fantasy Kitchen Sink, hidden by a Perception Filter, home to griffins, dragons, merfolk, nereids, dryads, centaurs, al-mirajes, kankos, unicorns, phoenixes, manticores, sphinxes, ratatoskas, hippocamps, chimeras, borometzes, pegasi, and more.
  • Domains: Magic, seclusion, sailing, trees
  • Vistors: Fluttershy, Gilda, Hitch Trailblazer, Rubeus Hagrid, the Spectral Familiars, Reimu Hakurei
  • Banned from entering: Lord Voldemort, Pokémon Hunter J, Big Jack Horner, P. T. Boomer, Moro, Lord Tirek, Arnold Berkman, Sophie
  • Restricted access: Jonah
  • Has diplomatic ties with: The Monster Sanctuary, the Principality of Eylstadt
  • Magic entered the world when the first tree grew. It flowed into the soil, the air, and the water, spreading all over the Earth. This magic goes by many names — glimourie, glamry, glim, glimt — and the source of it all is called the Glimourie Tree. Long ago, magical creatures lived everywhere, but humanity hunted them to near-extinction. The glimourie is at its strongest in the Archipelago, and 3,000 years ago, it was hidden away to keep magical creatures and humans who respected them safe. Now, the only way to enter it is through portals that open under very specific circumstances, called waybetweens.
  • Places of interest include:
    • Lithia is the largest island. It's home to Bryn Tor, a bustling port town where magical creatures roam the streets alongside humans. Hundreds of sailors pass through everyday to sell their most valuable wares. The streetlamps are lit with salamandric fire, which never goes out. It has a pub called The Naiad's Tail, which is popular among fishers.
North of Bryn Tor is the City of Scholars, where yellow stone buildings surround a lagoon. The Archipelago's wealthiest people live here, such as the Trevasse family. The city's landmarks include a mermaid-shaped fountain, a large jewellers called the Gem Palace, and Anja Trevasse's palazzo.
The north-eastern peninsula is home to sphinxes, who are willing to offer knowledge to anyone who can answer their riddles — or eat them if they can't. They carve writing in various languages into mountainsides.
    • A few smaller islands have friendly inhabitants, too.
Atidina's town of Icthus was once the biggest port in the Archipelago, but fell out of use when it was hidden from the rest of the world. Now, its human inhabitants enjoy its quietness, and occasionally merfolk and hippocamps swim alongside fishing boats. Borometzes grow in its fields, and unicorns live in its forests.
Antiok is home to centaurs, skilled artisans who make magical artefacts and potions. Due to their high metabolic costs, they need to eat a dozen times a day, and they have night-long feasts every full moon. The University of Alquon is on the west of the island.
Tār has a small population of humans, but its main point of interest is its forest. There, the smell of the glimourie is strong, and dryads live inside the colourful trees, some of which grow extremely delicious apples.
    • The Island of the Immortal's most notable feature is the golden palace where the Immortal, the being who contains the soul of the Glimourie Tree's first apple, once lived. Whenever they die, they immediately reincarnate, and keep all the memories of their past lives. That was, until 100 years ago, when the Immortal's incarnation couldn't handle his burden and drank a potion to forget everything. Now, the palace is overgrown and overrun with karkadans, vicious unicorn-like creatures who kill for sport and have toxins dripping from their horns.
    • Arkhe is the northernmost island, surrounded by a choppy sea and covered in sand. It's inhospitable to most beings, but dragons like its warmth. Here, the Glimourie Tree grows under a sun-like orb of pure heat and magic called the Solumnulum, that holds the barrier around the Archipelago in place. It's also the "sun" that Icarus flew into. In order to keep it safe from intruders, the tree is hidden within a trap-lined maze that only the Immortal knows the way through.
    • There are also some islands that visitors are advised to avoid at all costs. The Island of Manticores is barren because its inhabitants try to eat everything they see, and like to torment their prey first. The Island of Murderers is a prison colony that no-one can ever leave because of an enchantment.
  • In order to preserve the Archipelago's wildlife, some gods were pre-emptively banned. Pokémon Hunter J hunts all sorts of exotic life-forms, and the magical creatures would definitely be on her list if she were allowed in. Voldemort is been known to kill unicorns, which is considered a special kind of evil in his world. It's unknown if the Archipelago has this taboo, but its inhabitants take great care to not needlessly kill magical creatures. Big Jack Horner hates fantastical beings and smuggles magical artefacts in his home world, and everyone dreads to think what would happen if he got his hands on any centaur crafts. P. T. Boomer just hates everything magical and whimsical. Moro and Lord Tirek want to steal all magic for themselves. Jonah is allowed to visit, but he's not allowed on any ships because he has a tendency to make them sink.
  • Fluttershy, Hitch Trailblazer, and Rubeus Hagrid are all good with animals, magical or mundane. Fluttershy can tame the most dangerous of creatures, and during a visit, she calmed down a rampaging kraken simply by asking it what was wrong. The first time Hitch stepped onto Bryn Tor, he was instantly followed by an entourage of al-mirajes. Hagrid... is much less sensible. He once tried to pet a manticore, and would've gotten eaten if he wasn't so big. Some people have mistaken him for a berserker, who are an order of fearless humans who protect the Immortal.
  • Gilda's visit caused quite a stir. Griffins are believed to be extinct in the Archipelago after the glimourie started to fade five years ago. Furthermore, unlike the Archipelago's griffins, Gilda can talk. She loved the attention at first, but soon became frustrated with it, so she sold some of her feathers to wealthy humans for an exuberant amount of gold pieces and left without another word.
  • The Spectral Familiars are interested in the Archipelago because it has an eerily similar backstory to their Monster Sanctuary. It too is a place where magical beings live alongside humans that's hidden from the outside world, and surrounds the site where the first tree grew. They and their keepers have considered letting some of the Archipelago's creatures live in the Sanctuary, but they're having a hard time getting the flying senate (the Archipelago's government) to agree. Regardless, the two dominions have diplomatic ties, and their inhabitants frequently travel between them.
  • For similar reasons, Reimu Hakurei is interested in the Archipelago. She's from a long line of miko who maintain the barrier that separates the fantastical land of Gensokyo from the mundane world. She once tried to throw a tea party in The Naiad's Tail... only to learn that they didn't serve tea. On the plus side, a kanko (the only Japanese creature known to inhabit the Archipelago) decided it liked her and tried to make a nest in her sleeve.
  • The Archipelago also has diplomatic ties to Eylstadt. It too is brimming with magic, in its case thanks to leylines. In canon, Izetta drained all of its magic to prevent the Germanian Empire from using it to power their weapons of mass destruction, but it's still there in the Pantheon. Two high-ranking members of the empire, Arnold Berkman and Sophie, were interested in harnessing the glimourie... so they were added to the banlist as soon as possible.

There's a place where all the wildest stories began...

I hope I've gotten at least one person interested in Impossible Creatures (2023). Also, the Google Sheets database doesn't have the new Dominion halls on it. Let me make some changes...

@RJ-19-CLOVIS-93: Would it not hurt to include some mention of Sanae Kochiya in Maya & Zatz’s profile, as she is also part-divinity as well? Regardless of whether or not you end up doing so, I’ll give it a [tup].

Been a while since I posted a draft. Only added blurbs about EGO and Distortions and surrounding context. Couldn’t really find it in myself to divorce these two from their inspirations.

I have an idea for both of their ascensions but I still need to work out some stuff. Additional (and non-mook) allies for Dongbaek for instance. Overall, I don’t want the relationships to be lop-sided this time around.

For Dongrang, would him ascending as a result of cutting a deal with Lex Luthor via his knowledge on K Corp’s Singularity be a reasonable scenario? Seeing as Dongrang became a scapegoat for a terrorist attack posthumously.

  • Look backward into the past, far enough when certain technologies that are seen as normal today were in their infancies. What did you think people felt when they saw through a telescope, watched a moving film, or witnessed the original plane take to the skies for the first time? Did they have stars in their eyes and childlike wonder in their heart when such creations were brought to life? This simple joy was what drove the League of Nine Littérateurs, a society operating in T Corp after moving from District 19 composed of inventors and tech enthusiasts who held illuminators conferences to showcase the inventions they privately made for the group. Among the members are Yi Sang, Dongbaek, and Dongrang who hailed from the same hometown. They were an innocent bunch, taking time out of their busy lives to fund their private ventures but this time of peace would not last. Cracks began to form as members came and went, the group was barely scraping by economically, and their technology was soon at risk from being confiscated due to not having the prerequisite registrations as other powers grew wise of their existence. Some members began caving into pressure and sold out the League for their personal safety with the final fracture being a raid conducted by T Corp’s agents ending in the League’s base burning to ash, scattering any of the remaining members with it.

  • (ascension)

  • (Phantom Thieves)

  • Dongbaek:

    • A hometown friend of Yi Sang and Dongrang who joined the League of Nine with them was fond of fireworks as they reminded her of home in S Corp where the stars were as clear as day. Alas, no such sky could be seen in T Corp’s smoggy and colorless light-polluted skies hence her admiration for pyrotechnics. Dongbaek was of a cheerful sort, a bit of a jokester while also being an enthusiastic member of the League though was a realist in not really looking towards using any of their technologies for good if it wasn’t going to meaningfully change the City. The happiness they had here in the moment mattered more. When T Corp's collectors came knocking for the Mirror technology they harbored, Dongbaek used a firework explosion as a diversion but in the process lost her eye and burned down the building full of the League's memories.
      • Following the League dissolution she became a bitter shell and at some point joined the terrorist syndicate known as the Technology Liberation Alliance where she swayed many of the downtrodden under her banner and would raid an abandoned L Corp laboratory in K Corp, one that happened to be occupied by Dongrang. In truth, however, Dongbaek’s goals did not end with technology’s abolishment as in destroying them she hoped the technologies would be rediscovered anew. Unfortunately, Dongbaek would never fulfill her wish as she was stopped by Yi Sang and the rest of Limbus Company with Dongrang finishing her off with the Golden Bough. Her goals scattered to the wind, as transient as a flower in bloom and the fireworks she loved so much. Though, she would help Yi Sang by encouraging him to fly towards the future and break free of the sloth and stagnation that gripped him.

    • After the TLA raided an L Corp branch in K Corp they managed to extract and use E.G.O the same way they did. Dongbaek in particular uses Sunshower, the E.G.O of the Drifting Fox. In Korean folklore, sunshowers are said to occur when a tiger and a fox get married and the cloud, who also loved the fox, is left weeping leading to the ensuing rainfall. For this reason sunshowers are also referred to as "fox rain". The general outline of such stories consistently has themes of unrequited love while Drifting Fox itself also conjured feelings of depression. It fits Dongbaek to a tee, being left in the rain as the League irreparably cracked and one of her closer friends leaving with someone else in the accident that scarred her. There is also another meaning to the E.G.O and her usage of it: Drifting Fox also represents the resentment directed against empty gestures of kindness, the kind akin to giving the homeliness a broken umbrella. You may pat yourself on the back for such a good deed but that umbrella is full of holes and they're still huddled underneath the rain. If anything, such a gesture is comparable to ignoring the downtrodden to begin with. Though Dongbaek rallied those with hatred for technology and the destruction they wrecked upon the world, ultimately they are stepping stones for her own goals of resetting the world and recreating the happiness the League once shared for future generations. With Sunshower, both the gloom of the Drifting Fox and herself will sink her enemies into a deep, deep depression just as they have felt. Since ascending to the Pantheon, however, this equipment has been passed down to a high-ranked TLA right hand she personally appointed because...

      • … she managed to manifest her own E.G.O, Spicebush. In rejecting the voice with the warmth of sunshine and emerging from the cover of parasols her newfound power blossomed from admitting to the selfishness of such an ideal. Even if there's no-one left to follow her, even if the world forsook her and she did it, Dongbaek will walk forward towards a newer more innocent world returned to beautiful meadows and a breathtaking blue sky. The mind-sinking puddles and resentful umbrellas of Sunshower pale in comparison to the piquant fragrance spread by the flowers blooming on her person and the environment around her. And this scent is often accompanied by powerful gusts of wind from her fan ranging from precise, crushing gales to all-encompassing cyclones. The Spicebush E.G.O is a reference to the work written by Korean author Gim Yujeongnote  called "The Camellias", of whom Dongbaek is named after. The story describes a character, Jumsoon resting under the yellow camellia flowers representing budding if not intimate attraction to the protagonist. While no such flowers exist in Korea, the closest equivalent and potentially what Gim colloquially referred to is the local Lindera obtusiloba otherwise known as blunt-lobed spicebush. And in real life, Gim Yujeong was close to fellow author Kim Hae-Gyeong (who went by Yi Sang as his penname) due to also suffering tuberculosis to the point where they tried to form a suicide pact though the plan fell through with as Kim soon moved to Tokyo. The two would pass away in 1937 just a month apart from one another.

    • (A unique Evil Luddite involving Fling a Light into the Future: Otto Octavius)

    • (TLA's affinity for Mecha-Mooks: The Vahki)

    • “I've always wished to be a bud, soon to burst into bloom. Shrouded in scent all over the body… Even if this is my own heart-wrenching path, understood by no one… I'll still leave behind a morrow, strong and fertile like fallen petals.”

  • Dongrang:

    • A hometown friend of Yi Sang and Dongbaek who was fond of animals. He took care of strays simply because they were suffering and under ailments, but Dongrang was most fond of a yellow calf who was abandoned by his mother. Fittingly, Dongrang’s specialty was with medicine and took pride in it as he cared for animals. Slowly, however, this benevolent outlook was chipped away as visitors flocked to other League member’s technologies but not his own. Dongrang then came to one conclusion: That the technology he made, and by extension himself, had no value if it had no immediate use let alone the capacity to change the world. He soon went off the deep end after being forced to destroy his work in a Concept Incinerator to prevent it from being taken and coming across the emerging technology of K Corp, culminating in him selling them out for his own ends.
      • He soon found himself working for K Corp and in discovering the dark secret behind the Ampules, he used Glass technology stolen from the League to hasten tear production. What was once technology that brought simple joy was soon appropriated for nightmarish ends. Dongrang would soon rise to be the Branch Manager of K Corp’s Food Resource Development but despite such status and being surrounded by awards he knew in his heart such trophies were hollow and even as he craved more the guilt from what he became threatened to consume him. This guilt wouldn’t last, however, as he soon embraced his ambition and wish to head towards the future with his first act being to kill Yi Sang to finally escape from the League’s shadow. Alas, Yi Sang would put him down first, having soared with the wings filled with the memories of the League while Dongrang failed to even take off and was still embraced by the shadows of the League as he lay dying. Dongrang’s work in advancing his status would also be for naught as following his death K Corp would use him as a scapegoat for the incident involving the Technology Liberation Alliance.

    • On the day Dongrang burned away his work he also burned away his innocence and pride too. All that work, all that compassion for healing animals because it was the right thing to do was meaningless. K Corp’s Singularity already existed and even though he was invited to work for them and earn his own prestige his contribution was one stolen from the League. When the empty vanity began to consume him and was embraced by a voice warm like the sun he Distorted into Dongrang, Who Denies All. His Distortion is centaur-like in nature with the lower half resembling a bovine not unlike his beloved cow, one perpetually hungry for anything, everything that can stave off his emptiness. This fits into his inspiration, the real life Korean author Yoo Chijin who was vocal about the farmers’ plight under landowners but upon earning a cushy position and in the midst of growing censorship began publishing pro-Japanese pieces. Among Yoo Chijin’s published works is a stage play named “The Cow” which is about a farmer whose pride and joy is their beloved cow/ox. Still, there was a silver lining to all this and wouldn’t remain sad and empty for long because...

      • ... He would un-Distort and also manifest his own E.G.O, Farmwatch. Despite its frail and primitive appearance in the hands of a civilian scientist it belies its surprising strength and agility with its most nasty application allowing Dongrang to sow seeds and cultivate them to reap its benefits. And incidentally, other living beings work just as well to sustain himself. So what if he’s empty? So what if his achievements are hollow? That is the past, not the now. And Dongrang’s now is looking towards the future for more opportunities ahead. In addition the aforementioned stage play, The Cow, featured a “mareum” aka a farmwatch as a villain who eventually collected the farmer's cow as a part of a tax but would no sooner meet his karmic end by said animal. While the roles were reversed here, Dongrang would still meet his end at the hands of Yi Sang just moments after manifesting E.G.O and failing to move forward like he wanted, forever embraced by the shadows of the past that gripped him. His fate couldn’t be any more fitting for farmwatches neither had the wealth of landowners nor the skill and hard work of an actual farmer. And for all of his talk of advancing himself, the real life author Yi Sang came to see the humble farmer as symbolic of Korea's stagnation as a country.

Singularity for Heads I Win, Tails You Lose

Reasoning: His favored tactic. Thanks to his ability to manipulate fate with Phenomenal Affirmation, he’s killed a whopping 2,044 universes and their Arch-Eve Variants. The only thing the player can do is change the way the variants die. Despite that going against him, he still kills them and destroys their universes. He isn’t overly reliant on that ability either. He’s just as skilled a Chessmaster and intelligent planner. He tricks Jeanne and Bayonetta into opening the Alphaverse so that he could seal Jeanne and kill the latter. Despite his power, Singularity doesn’t even prefer fights, rather killing or attempting to kill the protagonists on the spot. It took someone with enough willpower to overcome his manipulation of fates, reality and backup plans to destroy him, and even then he returned in Jeanne’s personal story.

  • Disrespects: Tom Riddle/Lord Voldemort
  • Pities: Cetrion
  • The Candlemaker is a spirit who lives in the Cave of Souls and is also the keeper of the Book of Life. A powerful yet humble deity made out of celestial candlewax and with a beard of clouds, he's in charge of both keeping the balance between the Land of the Remembered and Land of the Forgotten, and more importantly creating the candles of life that embody every living thing. He has a brother, the Creator, who rules the Land of the Blessed, a land where angels and other celestial beings live. He helped Manolo return to the land of the living and acted as the officiator of his wedding to Maria Posada, along with helping him deal with Chakal. He also was the officiator for Lady Micte and Lord Mictlan's wedding...that didn't go as well though.
  • His ascension was, according to some, foreshadowed by the fact he was the herald of his divine contemporaries La Muerte and Xibalba. A good friend of bost even if he acknowledges the latter can be a jerk. Like them he also took a modern human form incognito, that being a bus driver, Mr C. According to some official notes He used have a thing for the former, and the puddle he has in the Cave of Souls isn't just a Companion Cube; it's alive and made from the tears of a goddess, La Muerte's sister La Noche. Also, Maya and the Three shares a universe with him, so he was kind of happy to see Maya and Zatz ascend with him as he enjoyed their story. Chakal wasn't exactly happy to learn the Candlemaker had ascended due to his role in his defeat, but it's not something the Candlemaker puts much consideration into. Having aided them and overall impressed by their accomplishments, Manolo, Maria and Joaquin were happy to meet up with the waxy, lovable god again.
  • His ascension as the god of Elemental Hair Composition is because of his Weird Beard of elemental clouds. Because it's made of clouds, someone decided to prank him by inviting Rayquaza over and use its ability of Air Lock to wipe that weather off his face. This didn't work, in large part because of how powerful he is and it's not exactly weather. The dragon and the Candlemaker are amicable to each other because the latter likes how the former, and another dragon Zygarde for the matter, have the job of keeping order in the world, particularly against squabbling entities like Groudon and Kyogre. As a life and soul deity, the Pokemon that he has the closest working relationship with is Xerneas and Yveltal, the incarnations of life and death. Him and Arceus are pretty tight too, and the latter can respect him for taking his job seriously but not being a stick in the mud and having a good sense of humor. He tried to reach out to Kracko who's made almost entirely of clouds and not just the hair, but the mean little cloud wasn't interested in his easy-going personality.
  • The Candlemaker's function is to craft the candles that embody and represent people's lives. If that candle is still lit, it means they're alive. With his usage of candles, the Dark Brotherhood was curious about this waxy deity due to their usage of the Black Sacrament, though he doesn't exactly approve of their rituals. The Candlemaker is easy going yet he's still an equal to La Muerte and Xibalba, and one of the more understated Overdeities in the Trope Pantheon. Ember Lumen was also curious about these candles, seeing as how she's a living flame. The House of Undead and Phasmata was curious as to what their candle would look like since they're, you know, undead and still kicking in the mortal realm. Apparently when he shows them their candle, the fire is extinguished but its still hot and smoking. For Voldemort, it was multiple small and lopsided candles with a very tiny flame, representing his mutilated soul. While agreeing with most he's reprehensible, he's more disappointed than anything he could sully his essence to escape the reaper, and his ultimate fate may be worse than the Land of the Cursed.
  • The Cave of Souls serves as his temple, and it has a direct connection to both the House of Life and Vitality, and the House of Death and Postmortem. It's the nature of his job, after all. Strictly speaking his job of making the candles only applies to those from his universe, however with other divinity's permission he can make candles for other universes. The Life Entity and Death of the Endless were the ones who gave the go ahead for this, creating an appendix for his Book of Life to catalogue the comings and goings of Trope Pantheon members. Literal deities and divine entities don't show up in the appendix, though it's not like gods showed up in the regular one. Comparisons could be made between his book and Destiny's, though as the Candlemaker will readily admit Destiny's is far more expansive and influential. Unlike Destiny of the Endless he isn't bound to his book.
  • Because of his job, he works closely with divine beings of life, death and whatever's in-between. Though he follows the rules, he's willing to bend them a bit in order to help souls and spirits in need. The nature of the Trope Pantheon means that he has to relight candles, something he's not done that often, but he can adapt. Though his morality and worldview is more convention compared to Shishigami's Blue-and-Orange Morality, his nature as a life and soul deity means he understands the importance of the Nature Spirit and aids its role in the world. With this role in mind, he's on good terms with San and Ashitaka. Lady Eboshi is curious about him given her prior experiences, but is wise to avoid getting too interested in him. Darth Plagueis doesn't share this; he wishes to study the Candlemaker to learn the secrets of life itself...most would consider his reasons to be nefarious. Junior the Stork is another ally of his due to his role of delivering babies, and thus new life.
  • He's like Hestia in that he gets along with everyone he meets. They've got different jobs, though as being a protector of the family is an essential role as her "goddess of the hearth" position, knowing and getting along with people is super important for her. Due to The Book of Life and Maya and the Three having a shared universe, the "public domain gods" that he has the most familiarity with are the Mayan and Aztec ones. He's on good terms with them, except for Ah Puch by "virtue" of Ah Puch being a complete asshole who makes corpses and the dead his playthings, and he intends to expand his Hell. Yeah, Tezcatlipoca can be a major tool like Xibalba, but he still recognizes the Candlemaker's importance and he's a Nice Guy he respects. On another continent, there are some Egyptian gods seeking to work in tandem with him; Osiris and Anubis have the role of judging the dead, and while they usually want the heart of the dead to weigh they are OK with using his candles as a substitute if someone fails to be mummified. They had to make a modified scale to not give the feather of Ma'at an unfair advantage, however.
  • Few can say they hate the Candlemaker. Even someone as notorious as Zamasu, while seeing him as an enemy, doesn't have anything against him personally and might've liked to know him, but his job is antithetical to the Zero Mortals Plan. Like almost everyone the Candlemaker thinks he's nuts and his plan is steeped in blood and hypocrisy. As destroying the Cave of Souls and him would prevent new life from emerging in his native universe, he's considered a primary target by the GUAD. They aren't the only ones, mind you. Darkseid sees every god not under his control as someone to subjugate and/or eliminate, and the idea of taking the Cave of Souls, letting him control the fate of life itself in the Candlemaker's universe...is a terrifying one and it puts a smile on Darkseid's face. The Monitor had been, well, monitoring this and has informed the Candlemaker of some other multiversal threats. As the Monitor it is his job to observe and help the positive matter universes develop; a bit more cosmic in terms of divine vocation, but not incomparable to the Candlemaker's role.
  • Much as how almost nobody has a bad word for the Candlemaker, the Candlemaker rarely has it in him to hate someone. One of the only exceptions to this is Chakravartin. Controller of the Wheel of Life and Death in his universe, he continually destroys and rebirths planet Gaea to find a suitable successor to take it over after he leaves, harms trillions in the process without a care. He's a perversion of everything the Candlemaker holds dear. The same could be said about Zanza, and especially Kronika who's vision of balance is insane as far as he's concerned. He feels real bad for Cetrion having being gaslit into Kronika's loyal daughter despite what she's done (including sacrificing herself) and wishes she could live up to her potential. Perpetua and the Anti-Monitor are major enemies, as she seeks to enslave him in order to control life while Mobius simply seeks to destroy him along with his universe. Her son the World Forger has been making some Powered Armor and enchantments to give him at least some chance surviving them, though they're so OP he can't guarantee. When asked why he's putting in the help, Alpheus said that as creating life and making sure the right universes reach the light multiverse, their jobs compliment each other to a degree.
  • On a more lighter note, he has a bit of an issue with Beerus the Destroyer. Not that he dislikes him, and the two recognize each other's importance, but he feels Beerus isn't that good at his job and as such he's one of those beings who gets away with snarking at Beerus' expense without fear of reprisal or even the cat being too pissed. Since the Candlemaker's job is one of creation, his specialties are more something to tie in with the Kaioshins, and they prove a lot more competent than the cat....well, except maybe Shin, but since he was Incompletely Trained he has more of an excuse. Whis, an angel who observes and keeps a sense of balance, enjoys having Mexican meals with the Candlemaker. The Living Tribunal has been observing their meetings and believes the Candlemaker is doing a good job, and a heads up...Melkor and Ungoliant are seeking to come in and marr his cave. Ungoliant hungers for the light within him and his cave, and Melkor seeks to marr the world he comes from the same way he did Arda.
  • Nekron could sense Nagash's plans to enslave the Candlemaker so he may control the souls of everyone and had the more reliablenote  Lich infiltrate that afterlife since he has prior experience. The Candlemaker made sure to warn both La Muerte and Xibalba that "if there's any gnarly horned dude or big yellow hand wanting to have a say with one of your bets, squash him like a bug. You gotta play safe with the guy". The Crimson King meanwhile wants to physically tear the Cave of Souls apart by removing its metaphysical foundation. Finn and Jake helped stop the Lich's attempted takeover of their universe's afterlife as part of their final journey before they reincarnated, so they were happy to help out the Candlemaker.
  • Said to look like God. He is not the Alpha and Omega of his setting, but he is a powerful being whose job is to maintain the balance and the peace over the world of the living and the dead, and he's quite a nice guy. His aforementioned brother also comes off as kind of a God-like figure if the Land of the Blessed is any indication. Some have even compared his ability to craft life candles akin to Eru's usage of a true, ensouled life is described as the Flame Imperishable, though Eru is far grander than even the Candlemaker. He is someone that the Candlemaker would refer to as "sir", and listens to his advice. He works on his godly duties with the Valar, who usually make good conversation partners. Other benevolent Gods get along with the Candlemaker.

I have an idea for Contested Sequel, but I admit it's a rather big and varied trope so I won't be mad if you say there's a better choice for it

  • Dani Ramos and Grace, Co-Goddesses of Contested Sequels: the new hope of humanity and Kyle Reese equivalent of an Un-Reboot is the most recent Terminator movie, and like pretty much every movie since 3 suffers from this. While critics tend to have seen it as a step in the right direction compared to 3 or 5, it still got a contested reputation for killing off John Connor at the start, retreading the original movie and having a Happy Ending Override

Alright, I guess I just needed confirmation

First draft of the Mr Mxyzptlk retool. I am looking for ways you think Mxy would try to match wits in his regular trickster-like ways to worthy opponents mentioned. I couldn't figure out a good story without it sounding mechanical

Mister Mxyzptlk, God of Unpronounceable Names (Mister Mxyztplk, Mxy, Mixelplik, Ben deRoy, the King-Thing of Brpzx, Loki, Coyote, Anasui, "Clark Kent", "The Spectre", Chaos God)

  • In Superman's Rogues Gallery, you will never find someone with the phenomenal cosmic powers tied with a sense of whimsy and playfulness as you will with Mister Mxyzptlk. A jester and magical imp from the Fifth Dimension on the planet Zrfff, he's typicall just jester, a comedian and everyman on his home turf.. But due to the 5th dimension's higher nature, he comes off as a god-like Reality Warper in the third dimension. Rather than anything outright evil like most of Superman's villains, he's content with pranking and messing with the Man of Steel. He can make the universe his clay but prefers to match wits with him by causing (relatively) harmless chaos. For a win condition, you have to get him him to say, spell, write, or otherwise communicate his own name backwards. So have him say "Ktlpzyxm" and he'll be gone for 90 days. He does have a sense of honor and respect behind his clownish behavior, making him more of a Friendly Enemy.
  • Mr Mxyzptlk is relatively unique in that he isn't a specific version that ascended to the Trope Pantheon; all versions of the imp, unless specifically stated otherwise, are the same guy. His pestering of the Man of Steel spans the multiverse. Surprisingly, one mortal did the math and found this actually holds up. And because he can break the fourth wall with ease, he knows what the Trope Pantheon is. He came on his own accord to meet up and mess around with others, and there's no way he's gonna let Superman be where without him. Though Superman finds him annoying, they don't have much in the way of hard feelings and Mxy considers him his worthiest adversary. Second worthiest is Supergirl, who was a victim of his pranks during her early career. Some things he did include temporarily amping power levels up and removed her weakness to Kryptonite to humiliate Superman,, depowered her, repowered her, lured her into a future century where everyone had been brainwashed into hating her, tried to get married to her (don't ask), banished her and Batgirl to other dimension and pretended to be her enemy Black Flame pretending be Supergirl as a part of a convoluted scheme to prank Superman and Batman (again, don't ask).
    • His relationship with Superman got a little strained when he was tricked by the mysterious Mr. Oz into being captured along with countless other heroes and villains. He figured Superman would rescue him once he stopped his regular visits, but when that didn't happen, he made his own escape and decided to steal Superman's son as his new best friend. To challenge Mxy's attempts, Superman challenged him to a game, where the winner gets to keep John. It was a back and forth contest where Mxy almost won several times, but ultimately the love of the Superfamily managed to merge his 2 halves back together and reclaim John. Mxy, as part of the game, agreed to go "far away" for a while, but he's fairly certain that Batmite and Gsptlsnz can keep him amused for now. And besides, he'd always be game for another game eventually.
  • Where exactly Mr Mxyzptlk stands in the Fifth Dimension is often Depending on the Writer. In his original appearance, he was basically a nobody on Zrfff. Back in the Golden Age of Comics, it was Mr Mxyztplk. He's got a bombshell of a wife in Ms Gsptlsnz, though as they're both higher dimensional shapeshifters they could just prefer those appearances. On that note, he thinks Roger and Jessica Rabbit are a cute couple. Originally it was suggested the Golden and Silver Age Mxy were counterparts though with the "all Mxys are the same guy" reveal it's possible this could be just "fifth-dimensional weirdness"note . Supes once managed to get to the Fifth Dimension and cause trouble for him on his home turf. He let Luthor use red kryptonite so long as he didn't reveal his involvement. Earlier in his timeline he used to be a serious minded researcher, but in order to complete a Stable Time Loop Young Justice they inspired within him a sense of humor via a Three Stooges bit. He was happy to meet them in the Trope Pantheon and thank them for the laughs.
  • There are a few Mxys that are clearly not the same guy, but they're the exception rather than the rule and the main Mxyzptlk is well aware of their antics. Chiefly his Antimatter Universe counterpart Mixyezpitellik, a serious-minded and neatly dressed Reality Warper. He hates being compared to Mxyzptlk, calling him a "madcap imp". There's also a Bizarro Mxyzptlk made as a result of a Bizarro duplication ray, who's interested in creating order and usually pretty dour. Mxyzptlk jokes that they're somehow the same guy as only a Bizarro of him could be so humorless. Mr Mxyzptlk claims that Loki, Anansui and the Coyote are in fact just him under an alias but since he's from the DC Universe this is suspect. For what it's worth he gets along with Loki, seeing him as a kindred spirit if significantly more ambitious than him. The god of mischief decided to prank Thor by having Mxy disguise himself as Loki and the real Loki trying to "clear his name", keeping the act up until he gets bored and betrays him by working with his "imposter".
  • Well aware of Marvel Comics, when he showed up Post-Crisis he initially went under the alias "Ben deRoy as a nod to the Beyonder. When the Beyonder ascended the two formally met and became friends since they enjoy playing with their phenomenal cosmic power. And yes, that is a reference to the Genie. In the DC Universe, genies are often Fifth Dimensional imps, and his ilk have inspired other whimsical beings like leprechauns. He and the Genie enjoy stand up, however the Genie thinks Mxy can be a real jerk and while Mxyzptlk usually reverses the damage he does, he has killed. Still, he got a good chuckle over Mxyzptlk disguising himself as Iago and messing with Jafar by tempting him with great power only to put him in the Thousand And One Nights book and figure out how to get out. Afterwards he went after Hoopa and tried to test himself by summoning a bunch of legendaries and see if Hoopa Unbound can send them back with his rings. He's come to like the little scamp and decided to make another Pokemon his partner, that being the tricky and goofy Blacephalon.
  • His true form is incomprehensible to third dimensional beings; being an imp is simply his preferred form to interact with them and not expose the Eldritch Abomination he really is. His true, secret imp name is unpronounceable...though the Joker would argue otherwise. His alias, however, is hardly pronounceable due to its complete lack of vowels, and usage of rare consonants. All his kind have the lack of vowels in their name. How do you even pronounce it varies; "Mix-pih-tulk", "Mix-yez-pitl-ick", "Mix-el-plik", they're all valid. Him having to say his name backwards might be a blessing in disguise. Ryuk used his Shinigami eyes to figure out his true name only to get "Mxyzptlk" in English instead..."nice try" said the imp. There wasn't any hard feelings as he likes the cut of the Shinigami's jib, being someone who's more proactive and interested in stirring the pot to see what happens. Mxy won't admit that him giving a mortal great power was done smarter than when he did it. Speaking of which...
  • Much like Rumpelstiltskin, knowing his true name gives you some power over him. Famously, the Joker once scammed him of the majority of his power by exploiting his true imp name. Mxyzptlk only wanted to give him 1% of the power as he was curious to see what he'd do with that power, but he ended up taking 99.9% instead. Becoming Emperor Joker the universe bent to his insane vision and reality started tearing apart at the seams, requiring Mr Mxyzptlk to work with Superman to find a way to beat the Clown Prince of Crime. It's very much an Old Shame and by his own admission, a bone-headed move. Because of this he's made sure never to let himself be in that position again, staying clear of Dr Doom has he has a...reputation for taking god-like power for himself. He has no interest in giving anyone a drop of his power after that, so he stays clear of Moro and Lord Tirek as they can't be trusted with even a zillionth of his power. Much as it left him with egg on his face, Mxy was still interested in other cases of someone handling god-like power. He thinks Bruce Nolan being God for a Day was amusing, giving him props for yanking too hard on reality.
  • Doom speculated he might actually be the Impossible Man for a bit, but the two ended up meeting and not getting along as the Impossible Man thought his pranks went a bit too far. He was outraged that not only did Mxy not care about innocent lives being endangered, but he lied to him. This more cavalier attitude towards danger is why the Collector is mistrustful of him, however the imp still has a soft spot for the kid and they like to compete at planetary billiardsnote . That said, Mxy does have standards and a sense of honor. He's not like Bill Cipher who's idea of a good party is causing mass chaos and devastation, and he's not a Sadist like Yuuki Terumi. That said, he does enjoy playing games with Bill, but it's more about showing that triangle up. They regularly play reality-bending games in the Nightmare Realm, specifically there because Mxyzptlk feels Cipher needs to be on a leash until he learns how to play nicer, often with him making fun of Cipher for using his hedonism in part to cover up the fact he misses the home he burned down. Him wanting to prove he's a better mischief maker is meant to distract the villain.
  • Got a bit bored of playing poker with Bill in the Nightmare Realm and he manifested into somewhere a bit more colorful...Equestia...which history has shown is a bad idea. Discord immediately confronted Mxy given his fight trying to fight off the menace of Bill, who responded with "just ask Ktlpzyxm over there". The imp's response was "that's Ktlpzy-...oh you scummy Dorito chip!" and turned Bill into a Dorito before kicking him out. Mxzyptlk apologized for that, since he's a fan of Discord and enjoys messing around with reality, but not too much. The Mane 6 were curious, if a bit concerned over someone "who's been playing Discord's game before De Lancie was a glimmer in his daddy's eye!...oh yeah, I should probably mention I can see the bronies too." While his specialty is messing with Superman, he's decided to mess with Pinkie Pie by summoning her and Deadpool into a World of Chaos and see if they can figure their way out together. He wanted to be sporting and ran a deli for them when they get hungry, but he got tricked into saying his name backwards when asking to be paid for the chimichanga and ice cream. 90 days later, he wanted a redo and they were happy to do so.
  • The Fifth Dimension is described as being "imagination". It is one ontological layer below the Sixth Dimension, the "multiversal control room" which Perpetua and her relatives come from. The planet he's from, Zrfff, is the home of imps, genies and similar beings, who's magic is advanced 5-D science. Visitors have described Zrfff as being a wacky and chaotic place, something close to a Looney Tunes sketch. To some degree, you could say that Mr Mxyzptlk is like a trickster who uses Toon Physics. Mxy corrected this by saying "my powers aren't toonforce, I simply present it like that!" Judge Doom still despises Mxyzptlk for how close in temperament and to a degree powers he resembles a toon, even if he's a toon underneath that human suit. Emperor Belos holds Mxy in contempt as someone that resembles, seeking his power for himself to purge the world of "sinful" races. Not wanting to take any chances, he turned him into an action figure and played with him as the Collector played with an "action figure" of Zamasu. The mad Kaioshin made the mistake of trying to attack Mxy because he saw him as an irresponsible god at best, god-complexed juiced up mortal at worst. Said action figure doesn't have a voice box because the imp didn't want the "action figure" to say slurs in front of the kid.
  • Mr Mxyzptlk is a big fan of the Looney Tunes. The imp waxed on a (possibly untrue) story that before the Man of Steel he was in a prank war with Bugs Bunny and lost, but liked the moxie and decided to improve his craft. The story may be made up, but the point is that the two got along long enough for Mxy to ask him for a favor and go humiliate the Joker as payback for the time he stole his power. The Joker thought he could get one up on Bugs by making him say " Ynnub Sgub" but as Bugs was using Toon Physics alone, no dice. The whole thing was recorded by Future Zeno who figured out how to use a camera, in order to show off to Present Zeno. Mxyzptlk likes those kids, musing "sentimentality isn't my style but hey, I'm a dad myself". Mxy's fondness for the Zeno duo might be because of sadness over how his son (sort of, it's complicated) Vyndktvx turned out. He tried killing him only to take out the Thing-King (actually a future Mxyzptlk) he systematically destroyed all of the planets inside his pocket dimension to spite his enemy, and inflicting a massive amount of misery towards Superman for burning Vyndktvx's arm during one of his attacks on Earth. He'll entertain him in exchange for getting to mess with Goku. So long as he comes back in one piece and he gets to watch, Zeno will allow it.
  • Mr Mxyzptlk is absurdly powerful by simple virtue of being from a fifth-dimensional Wackyland, but just how absurdly powerful depends. Sometimes the way to banish him is a self-imposed limitation, sometimes it's a hard rule. He's a self-admitted sucker for games, not necessarily that he is bound to their rules as the Celestial Toymaker is that he really likes them. Not coincidentally, the Toymaker happens to be a good friend of his. The two are reality warpers who occupy themselves and their immortality with games. The Toymaker uses more "official" games while Mxyzptlk does mind games and jokes. They each have their personal Worthy Opponent in the Doctor and Superman respectively. They're also significantly more powerful than nearly every other member of said opponent's rogues gallery. The Toymaker's games are considerably more nasty, with the occasional Fate Worse than Death, however like Mr Mxyzptlk he has rules and some sense of fairness he follows. The imp has tried to make it a regular thing every week to meet up with the Toymaker and play games, often requiring the Doctor and Superman to work together in order to mitigate collateral. In Mxy's defense, he'll reverse whatever damage the Toymaker didn't bother to as he's not as bad. Sarda will sometimes be invited for game night.
  • By his own admission there are some beings beyond him, such as Dr Manhattan and, given the aforementioned Sixth Dimension, the Monitor and his relatives in their true form. He doesn't exactly care for Jon Osterman's attitude and has tried to tell him to lighten up, but is otherwise ambivalent towards him. Unfortunately, it also means that as the Darkest Knight, the Batman That Laughs is a threat and one just as comparable to Emperor Joker, if not even worse. He's definitely above Darkseid given he was no match to Emperor Joker, at least regularly as True Form Darkseid is not a form the Lord of Apokolips uses lightly. Beings like Darkseid and YHVH consider him utterly insufferable for not using his powers for anything serious. The Living Tribunal isn't all that impressed by his actions and general irreverence, and Mxyzptlk isn't exactly fond of someone much more powerful than him being, as he sees it, a stick in the mud. Still, he recognizes the Living Tribunal's importance and the two begrudgingly tolerate each other. Also of note; it's ambiguous where SCP-3125, another being from (a different) Fifth Dimension would stand compared to the imp. What is known is that the Escapee finds him obnoxious and insufferable, and Mxy thinks he's no fun.
  • His focus on the DC Universe is usually just Superman and friends. As annoying and chaotic as he is, more than a few times they've had a laugh at what transpired. While he is on speaking terms with Lex Luthor, that's more down to him being ok with helping him once in a blue moon to cause mischief, not because he likes him. Bizarro seems to get along with him a bit more, though that's more down to one incarnation of Bizarro coming to be because of the Joker using the imp's powers and Mxy being nice enough to keep him around when reality went back to normal. Mxy has a Friendly Rivalry with Batman's most powerful fanboy, another 5-D imp called Bat-Mite, who in the (possibly non-canon) "World's Funniest" they ended up rampaging and destroying the multiverse in their little conflict, only to put reality back together good as new like nothing happened. Again, good thing he's only interested in mischief. One of his antics was dunking on the Spectre with planets, something the angel is not impressed by. He's more livid at the time Mxy impersonated him to watch over Regime Superman when he was troubled by Trigon, as no-one messes with his Supes but him! The fact Trigon wasn't squashed like a bug would solidify his Overdeity status in the Trope Pantheon.
  • Once faced an Eldritch Abomination called the Ultimator, who was a 10-dimensional being that almost succeeded at consuming and assimilating the Fifth Dimension into itself. Being completely outclassed, Mxyzptlk had to resort to other comic books to figure out a solution. His solution? Make his own version of Dream of the Endless to bore the Ultimator into a slumber. The actual Dream tolerates this parody, but he didn't think it was all that funny. Since the Fifth Dimension is imagination, one could argue that it falls under the domain of Dream...though there's always the question of "how canon is Vertigo to DC anyway?" He does respect Dream, though he gets along a lot better with Delirium due to sharing that spirit of chaotic whimsy, though even Mxy is cautious not to truly upset her. As the Fifth Dimension is imagination, that puts Mxy in opposition to the Nothing. On a related note, the Auditors despise Mxyzptlk for his boundless whimsy and imagination coupled with the power to make his chaotic whims a reality.
  • As much as he's seen as a Laughably Evil or even Harmless Villain, it's very important to remember the only reason Mr Mxyzptlk is not one of the most dangerous villains in all of DC is because he chooses not to. At heart he's Above Good and Evil and acts out of boredom; he spent the first 2000 years of his life in stasis, the next 2000 doing good deeds and now being a prankster. In one scenario he decided to try being a villain for 2000 years, and afterwards maybe he'll feel guilty about it. It did not end well, with many innocent people and much of Superman's supporting and rogues gallery dying. Xenophanes wants to goad Mr Mxyzptlk into doing that again, but he's given a firm "no" since that ended with Superman killing him, and he's not that bored yet...or maybe that's something that happens at the end of his personal timeline. He finds Lord X to be droll and unimaginative, but this doesn't change the fact that he and Bill Cipher are well aware he absolutely has the potential to be more dangerous than them.

[up] Maybe an interaction with HIM, a demonic entity who routinely screws with the Powerpuff Girls and is way stronger than them, having his teeth knocked out at worst with the bare exception of one episode. Of course, his encounters with them are considerably more cruel and psychological even if they range in menace and evil. Ranging from making them solve riddles or the professor pays…in reality, for flapjacks, to…well, stuff like this. And he’s a Reality Warper as well.

However, the younger Jeanne would fight and defeat him, Singularity fading away once and for all.

Ight, got a quick suggestion for everyone:

Atlas and P-Body for Coop Multiplayer: two Cute Machines built by GLaDOS for the sake of testing, they come from an elaborate campaign meant to be played in multiplayer, with two players needing to work together to solve puzzles only possible with two people (or just kill each other, whichever comes first). It proved to be a popular enough mode that it even got DLC for its campaign before the main game did.
