Also he is himself fine with Homecoming, something that WILL see his soldiers deplete until one day there aren’t any left, and he is okay with it. Only Y, one of the lesser manifestations actually tries to find “solutions” to that problem.

The fact the world is completely at odds with the reason he exists is the core of his Motive Rant. He CAN’T make a true Endless Now, and so all that awaits anyone is despair, and he LOATHES IT!

I saw one theory I liked that Teach actually remembers his previous lives. That's why the whole "oath to the consul" thing was so important, because apparently dying wasn't enough to get rid of his memories. So yeah, he's carrying around the stress and guilt of decades in a 19 year-old body.

Ethel definitely strikes me as one of those. In the flashback to when she saved Noah and crew, she barely looked older than them. But then she grew her hair out, puberty hit her like a freight train, and now she can pass for mid-twenties.

And then there's Alexandria who is 15 but also could pass for mid-20s.

On Alexandria's part it's deliberate, to make people think she's older than she looks.

Teach recognizes Ashera at the same time she recognizes him, so it's likely.

So I've been seeing more discourse on the polyamory ending (or maybe I just noticed more because we were talking about Skye Bennet). It seems to be broken down into three arguments:

• Harems are male fantasies and it's insulting that three beloved female characters get reduced to trophies.
• Counterargument: Evidence points to it being a balanced polyamory situation, since Nia got Ship Tease with both girls.
• Counter-counterargument: There's no evidence of that, it's just baseless theorizing that contradicts canon.

I'm still unclear if that last one was in favor of "it's a harem and harems are ew" or "it's a harem and harems are great." Point is, I'm not sure why people are calling the balanced polyamory "obviously contradicting canon and just a stupid theory," and I'm hoping to get an answer.

That's because harems/polyamory in the majority of media where not seen in a good light, as with most of harem media being a bunch of stock tropes that doesn't do much outside of merchandising just to appeal to the power fantasy that males have (myself included), take Persona or the Trails series (even though they have well written characters) as most of them have a dating mechanic or the story has the girls falling for the male lead farly regularly, so despite XBC 2 polyamory ending being one of the best in resent memory those that see the bad side of harem media will still cringe at the thought of it so they try to declare it non-canon at every turn they can.

From discussions with my girlfriend, in the artbook Mio's final design is evidently shown with the Pneuma core crystal instead of Nia's tainted Flesh Eater crystal. Obviously this isn't what made it into the final game, but it is kind of interesting that Mio would've had traits from Nia and Pyra/Mythra at one point.

She also read into Rex introducing himself as "Uncle Rex" in a similar light, but I'd chalk that line more to playing up Rex's adulthood relative to everyone that isn't Shulk.

I meant more specifically. I understand the "harems are ew" response, though I disagree with it because I don't think it's a harem. I don't understand the "polyamory OBVIOUSLY contradicts real canon, stop pretending your headcanon has any basis in reality" response.

Older males calling themselves "uncle" are common in Japan, and honestly not all that rare even in English-speaking countries.

But seriously, I wouldn't like that, since part of what distinguishes it from a Harem Genre story is that Rex doesn't have all the girls in his party after him. He had one love interest, who turned out to actually be two people, and then a third girl expressed interest in him. Feels much more organic to me than "a dozen girls love one bland guy and they all refuse to go after someone with less competition."

But that's the answer: those that don't like harems will declare it as non-canon, with the more rarer group liking the idea that only one girl wins over the others.

I think it's a combination of two things

1. There legitimately being very little information of what the relationship is actually like. Basically the only thing we know for certain is that Rex is the common factor between them. Nia's role in it in relation to Pyra and Mythra is pretty much completely up in the air.

2. Base game Rex already had a lot of people complaining that he had "wish fulfillment protagonist" vibes; he basically becomes bonded to an extremely hot and badass woman, who actually turns out to be two women, the snarky catgirl is also romantically attracted to him (and she's also secretly really powerful), there's an implication that he's descended from the hero Addam, he ultimately becomes the Master Driver who's really powerful and can basically use all the blades at full power, etc. It's very much an extreme simplification of his character, but people who already perceive him as someone that the player is supposed to project on to are immediately going to jump on the "wish fulfillment fantasy" interpretation when it turns out that he's hooked up with multiple women, who happen to be totally cool with him doing that.

Basically, there's not a whole lot of specific info about the relationship, so people who already thought Rex was a self-insert character immediately jumped to the least charitable interpretation of the scenario.

For what it's worth I personally think it's a mutual thing between all of them (i.e. Nia is as much Pyra and Mythra's wife as Rex's), with the caveat that Pyra and Mythra don't hook up between they're more like sisters than anything else.

Whoo. Been doing a lot of side quests like crazy. Still not done Chapter 4, but getting closer bit by bit.

Been checking out as many question marks and exclamation points as possible. Been an interesting ride.

Still not done Chapter 4. Get sidetracked by sidequesting galore, but I've been making my way to the top.

Gotta fight my way through Incursion area while still climbing Prison Island. Not the place with that one Dragon unique enemy, but an area after that.

Well, shit. Made it all the way up to the Albaster throne, and was about to fix the ladder and keep climbing up beyond that....but I'm out of Ether Cylinders. And Ether doesn't seem to regenerate in this game.

I literally can't continue on with the plot.

There are a few question marks on the black mountains that I haven't been able to figure out where they are, so maybe that's my salvation, but I've had no luck figuring them out so far.

So the plot is on hold whether I like it or not. Anybody got something for me on this one.

I ran into the same obstacle I believe. Without knowing what you've collected already, the most I can say is to keep searching every place thoroughly.

Phew. I managed to find some. So I'm back in it. Stopped just before when I would the final area in the Black Mountains, so I'm still in Chapter 4. Might go back and finish that.

There is still an area I haven't explored yet either, so I'm not totally sunk on getting more ether...I think.

I'm down to two Cylinders right now, so I'm trying to save it until I need it unless I get some more.

In the 3 Offical Artworks book, Takahashi says he want Monolith Soft to continue improving on character expressions.

The main reason why I bring it up is because he says, (translated) "We aren’t trying to make an actual 10-minute long scene, so don’t misunderstand."

Considering that he laughs immediately afterwards and every game in the series has a cutscene that's much longer than just 10 minutes, I guess he was being facetious.

I guess there's really nothing in there about The Xenosaga stuff being made canon in Future Redeemed, unless thats under his comment on "not being able to answer everything yet" in the artbook.

Well obviously they aren't doing that; they're not going to limit themselves to ten minutes.

I think we're going to be sticking to Broad Strokes canon. Any more detail will likely come from a sequel. Or a prequel! I'd love a Xenoblade 0 TV series about Klaus' experiment.

This franchise has surprisingly little multimedia presence, actually. It's just the games.

I am going to beat this dead horse into paste, but Xenosaga cannot exist in the Xenoblade universe due to direct contradictions in the plot. What they will do is take characters, plot points, and themes and use them in completely different ways, like they have since the first game.

Which as mentioned would still be Broad Strokes take that will be used to bridge the two together, as KOS-MOS and T-ELOS already signify with the fact they have knowledge of the World Tree but don’t know where it’s from.

With the likely scenario being they end up in a different universe when Klaus activates the Zohar than those in the divided universes in Xenoblades take on Saga.

They even use Alvis words to signify the meaning of everyone meeting in 2 in the DL Cs between the Xenoblade Protags just to reinforce how they’ve been planning this for awhile.

Kallian is Karellen and N is Grahf. Neither character makes Xenogears "broad strokes canon" to Xenoblade. Aveh and Kislev—excuse me, Agnus and Keves—are in 3 along with the Gazal Ministry, but that only makes it less possible for any Canon Welding to take place.

That's what's going to happen with Xenosaga. Lao's likely to become one of the Testaments alongside the Black Knight. Yuriev wasn't even born until humanity left Earth in Xenosaga, yet in Xenoblade he's in charge of Project Exodus. KOS-MOS:Re's model number doesn't work with any production timeline possible in Xenosaga. Etc etc etc.
