A Transformers Thread

So how exactly do the Transformers eat and drink? There has been record of cybertronian food in various series, as well as Mc Adams of course for drinking, but how exactly do they process it? How about ones who dont have mouths?

in IDW Optimus shows his faceplate comes off and he has a mouth. He takes it off specifically to eat.◊

As for the food it's energon in various form.

I recall G1 guys consuming energon and only energon, in the cartoon anyway. Animated had them occasionally drink oil as though it was beer or wine, depending on the scene. There was some eating of genuine food in Beast Wars, but that opens up the entire debate of whether the Maximals and Predacons in that series were techno-organic, and thus had some biological components.

I don't think the Maximals and Predacons started out as technorganic, more the idea was that they were just more advanced—in particular more fuel-efficient—than their Great War ancestors. That could well have included the ability to derive their energy from less energy-dense sources, like food, in the way an organic creature might but I don't think anything was ever explicitly stated about that.

Merch confirms that it was Airachnid in the trailer. Dope. I hope this means a good Airachnid toy down the line, I love her design.

It's always cool when an original character from one of the cartoons blows up and get's adapted into others. Good on Bulkhead and Lockdown for getting the legacies they have and hopefully Airachnid get's some good stuff to do.

I 'member when Bulkhead was just that one guy from Energon. It took his Animated incarnation to really get him some fame!

I quite like the Energon Bulkhead's design. But I wouldn't say I like how poorly his toy—or rather, the partner mech backpack figure—ages if the batteries are left in. I've had two copies, and the acid melts the mech's turrets and snaps them off their connections. XO

I wonder if they're going to have Airachnid replace Blackarachnia as the evil Spider-lady, considering Blackarachnia is becoming famous for being a Tweener / Anti-Hero / Anti-Villain.

I will say im hoping they arent going to Autobot V Decepticons who are trying to steal the dohicky.

I quite like how they humanized the Decepticons in season 1, I'd suck to have them just become the villains again.

• Studio Series:
  • SS86:
    • Core Steeljaw: A new mold of Blaster's cassette lion! He comes with a giant megaphone that can fit onto Kingdom/Legacy/SS86 Blaster's hand so you have one half of his arsenal from "Auto-Bop"!
    • 86-29 Deluxe Bumblebee: A brand new mold of our favorite yellow bot, but now with a legally distinct alt-mode that doesn't hinge on getting VW's finicky approval and there's no partsforming this time!
    • 86-30 Leader Springer: He's got better things to do tonight than just be a redeco of his Siege counterpart! Springer has a new head, new shoulders that can swivel and be diagonal to look closer to his animation model, new chest, and new articulated hands, plus an even bigger arsenal! He keeps his two Siege blasters, but now he has a giant gun (which Ultra Magnus kept using in the 1986 movie due to animation errors), the catapult missile that he chucked at Devastator, two new swords (one animation accurate and one that become his copter rotors, and a new hammer! (...which might be for someone else?) (In-hand images here!)
  • Movieverse:
    • SS-113 Voyager Skywarp: Another redeco of the Bumblebee Movie seeker mold, but now he has a face like Blitzwing from that movie!
  • Gamer Edition:
    • War for Cybertron 08 Decepticon Soldier: A retool of WFC Barricade but with a new head and heel support? He looks like the guy Megatron blasted for claiming Megatron's plan to ram their warship into Starscream's dark energon station was suicide.
• Generations Comic Edition Leader Straxus: FOOLS! Mercy is not dispensed here! Only empty wallets! Straxus is a heavy retool of Kingdom Galvatron with a new head, torso, a deco based on Straxus' first appearance in the Marvel comics and new accessories: his signature pickaxe and a cannon that can be stored away!

Very exciting!

The rando decepticon goon from the video game shouldn't have a figure that goes this hard.

So I read a rumor that Season 2 of Transformers: EarthSpark will likely be its last, totaling at 52 episodes (akin to Beast Wars and Armada). This rumor also implies that a new Transformers animated series is, of course, going to be produced. I've cooked up some nifty theories of what's to come next.

1. The rights to EarthSpark will be fully transferred to Hasbro, as had been done with Transformers: Animated when their production contract with Cartoon Network ended. You can most likely expect all 52 episodes to be uploaded on the official Transformers YouTube channel over time.

2. Generations-styled versions of EarthSpark robots can be expected in future collector-aimed toylines.

3. As for the new Transformers series, I was thinking something that takes the franchise back to the basics: just Autobots waging their battle against the evil Decepticons bent on taking Earth's energy sources back to Cybertron.

- The Main Autobots: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Arcee, Ironhide, and Mirage

- The Main Decepticons: Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, Skywarp, and Thundercracker

As for the humans, I'd be interested in seeing some more representation as had been done in Prime and EarthSpark, namely Latino, Muslim, plus-sized, etc.

What are your theories for the new series?

I just bought Twitch actually. I haven't heard good things about the Earthspark toy series so I was hesitant (And I figure a Twitch toy should be tiny) but I got her anyway because she was cute.

I mean, it's nothing official, but just a heads-up. We could be getting a new Transformers cartoon in late 2025/2026.
