[up] As someone who saw it when was in theaters in February, DO IT. Absolutely worth it. Should've been in theaters from the start instead of getting dumped onto Disney+.

Disney attempting games again, this time by hiring multiple industry veterans.

  • Shawn Shoptaw, games lead, has been promoted to VP of the division.
  • Ray Gresko, formerly Blizzard Entertainment chief development officer, is senior VP of product and development, specifically working with Epic Games to craft games.
  • Bjorn Tornqvist, formerly of Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment, will be VP of technology.
  • Jay Ong, former head of Marvel Games, will lead licensing for every franchise.
Hopefully third times the charm.

Hey, Jay? Work on giving us a proper Marvel vs. Capcom 4 and I'll give you my vote of approval.

("But we got Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite—")

I said proper.

A proper MvC4 would have had X-Men and new Capcom reps like Akira Kazama, Asura, Gene from God Hand, and not ditch vets like Tron Bonne, Viewtiful Joe, Amaterasu or have the characters look plastic-y because the team had a budget on the same level as a DLC pack.

But I digress. tongue

So, I’ve come up with a 10-6 for my “most messed up Disney Villain Deaths”, so here is the full list:

     full list
  • 10: Judge Claude Frollo (falls into lava pit)
  • 9: Shan Yu (exploded)
  • 8: King Candy (vaporized)
  • 7: Mother Gothel (ages into dust)
  • 6: Dr. Facillier (dragged to the other side)
  • 5: Ursula (impaled by boat and electrocuted by trident)
  • 4: Commander Rourke (crystallized and then chopped up by a propeller)
  • 3: Bill Sykes (hit by a train)
  • 2: Scar (eaten alive)
  • 1: Clayton (accidentally hung)

You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!

I dunno, King Candy's pretty bad. He was trying to stop himself, but merging with a bug meant half of his mind was hypnotized by light.

[up][up]I think the "lava pit" Frollo falls into is supposed to be a vat of molten iron. It's been a while since I saw the film, though.

I feel like the most disturbing Pixar villain death is probably either Hopper (fed to baby birds) or Syndrome (getting sucked into a plane engine by his cape).

Fingers crossed we get a dragon involved in "Moana 2" for the "Year of the Dragon".

[up] Dragons as westerners define them don't really exist in Pacific Mythology. Giant retilian or serpentine monsters, yes (and may fall under Our Dragons Are Different).

Maybe it's because it's a Disney Junior series, but I don't think they've made any Funko Pops based on Spidey and His Amazing Friends.

So, I randomly decided to binge Gargoyles...

All in all, I had a pretty fun time. This show felt pretty ahead of the game, since a lot of cartoons weren't really serialized back in the 90's and Disney didn't start making that the semi-norm till two decades later. The characters are solid, the world-building is well thought out, and the emotional moments usually strike home... Most of the time. I do gotta say though, this show definitely stuck out like a sore thumb compared to everything else that was part of the Disney Afternoon.

I think Season 1 was my favorite season, if only because it wasn't dragged down by something like the Avalon World Tour. (geez, minus the cute moments between Goliath and Angela that one was kind of a chore to get through) and The Goliath Chronicles being... well, a prime example of Seasonal Rot.

I have to say I love Amphibia for giving Bill Farmer the chance to show he can do heartbreaking drama.

[up] And they balanced it out by getting him, the VA of Goofy, of all people, to say lines like "Eat the Rich!" in a Disney cartoon.

[up] I wonder why Amphibia was not the show murdered before its time like The Owl House was. Both were major hits in the end though.

Although...I will admit, that despite me knowing of several other entries like Frozen II and Toy Story 4 and why they're on that list...

...I still enjoyed them. Even have them on Blu-Ray.

I still liked Frozen 2 more. It is flawed, but I found it to be less flawed than the first.

With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptation

The angst over Frozen II seemed a bit excessive to me. "I'll never see you again Elsa... until Friday! Be ready for game night!"

I did think it needed some work to show better that Arendale needed a politician to run it and Elsa was just too introverted.
