What interesting things have you only recently learned about?
To be clear, this is about things which have been true for some time and you only recently learned about, not things that only happened recently. In particular, recent deaths of celebrities and other high-profile individuals should go in the General RIP Thread.
So, what interesting things have you guys...and gals...only recently learned about?

Some onlyfans models who offer text messages with customers as a paid tier actually just outsource that to call centers.
David Willis is a he/they, has been out for five years, I have just missed that.

Better to fight, than to live in fear.Henry VIII was a devout Catholic. The major boost he gave to protestanism during the English Reform was just a side effect of him trying to divorce his first wife.
Just a simple man, making my way through the Tropes.I also believe that he was originally studying to be a bishop.
Better to fight, than to live in fear. Not to mention that the big shift towards a more Protestant doctrine for the Church of England came during the reign of Henry's son Edward VI. Which his sister Mary promptly walked back on (earning her "Bloody Mary" moniker in the process), and which Elizabeth ended up doing a "happy medium".
INT is knowing a tomato is a fruit. WIS is knowing it doesn't belong in a fruit salad. CHA is convincing people that it does.As a continental European raised around the Lutheran church, I always learn new things about the English reformation. I didn't realize until pretty recently that most US church denominations are just extensions of the English reformation; Episcopalians are Anglicans but with a different name, Presbyterians are Sottish protestants, Methodist are a spin off from Anglicans. Baptism has some roots in European Anabaptism, but is ultimately descended from a split in the English reformation. Later immigration from Europe did bring some Lutherans to America, but most American born protestant christianity is still just extensions of religious debates from the formation and split of the Church of England, and that's why they still venerate the King James Bible. And that's also why they're called WASP's.
I guess 7th Day Adventists and all the cul- sects that descended from them are the true American protestant tradition.
[ed.] also, the word "methodist" is an Appropriated Appellation

Thanks to our good friend Aegis P, I found out that today is the 30 year anniversary of one of my favorite TV shows: Space Ghost Coast to Coast. I loved watching that show. XD
I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue.Glad I was able to help!
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Well, I feel dumb. I thought that a TAS (tool-assisted speedrun) involved somehow training an AI to play a game perfectly. (Yes, I know AI has only recently seen an explosion in popularity, but that's mostly generative AI as far as I can tell. I thought this was a different type of AI.) I just learned about some of the tricks and techniques that are actually used to make a TAS. It's still a person playing the game.
Now I see why it's called "tool-assisted."
Burbank Frollo: the most hilariously ineffectual, unintimidating Frollo everWAIT I THOUGHT IT WAS A BOT PROGRAMMED TO DO ALL THE MOVEMENTS PERFECTLY
PEOPLE STILL PLAY IN TAS RUNS???

Another was that the country was hesitant to take on millions of Catholics, which given how anti-Catholicism was a big political issue in the US to the point where they only elected one as President in 1960, kinda makes sense.
