[[AC:{{Crossover}}s]]
* ''Fanfic/CodePrime'':
** R2's Headmasters (who are majorly composed of the Irregulars from ''Nightmare of Nunnally'', Rolo, and [[spoiler: a disembodied Mao]]) are ''Anime/TransformersSuperGodMasterforce'''s Headmaster Juniors (both Autobot and Decepticon) turned over their heads. Both share their primary title as ''Headmasters'', are mostly composed of younger people with implications of ChildSoldiers. ''Masterforce'' plays the Headmaster concept straight, has the younger people join willingly to become Headmasters, and the implications of ChildSoldiers are downplayed. ''Code Prime'' puts them as an InNameOnly group, the younger people hail from the Geass Order (which at the time is operated by [[MadScientist Shockwave]]), are forced to serve the Decepticon cause (though one of them successfully makes it to the Autobots' side), and them being ChildSoldiers is treated rather seriously, with one of the Autobot-Black Knight Alliance's sub-goals being to retrieve the escapee's lost friends.
** [[Anime/CodeGeassAkitoTheExiled Shin Hyuga Shaing]] of course could be considered a more darker, crazier, and nihilistic version of [[Anime/{{Naruto}} Itachi Uchiha]].
** The fic's depiction of [[Anime/CodeGeass Marianne vi Britannia]] skews towards a darker version of [[Anime/{{Naruto}} Minato Namikaze]]. Both are some of the strongest in their respective areas (Knightmare piloting and ninjutsu respectively); even having "Flash" as part of their [[RedBaron epithet]], had children that they had to abandon due to personal circumstances, and were on the receiving end of a punch and a MotiveRant from their children upon learning of their true natures. But while what Minato did was for the greater good (sealing the Nine-Tails in Naruto to defend the Hidden Leaf against its attack) and "abandoned" Naruto in a sense that he died to protect the Hidden Leaf, Marianne abandoned Lelouch in order to advance her and her husband's plans for the Ragnarok Connection. Minato remains a good person through and through, but [[spoiler: Marianne starts out antagonistic and doesn't commence her CharacterDevelopment leading up to her HeelFaceTurn until the Decepticons destroyed Britannia and she's forced to serve under their whims for a time]]. And while Minato's actions are remembered in a positive light by the cast, [[spoiler:what Marianne did ultimately earned her the scorn of everyone, from her son Lelouch, to the Autobots denouncing her as being no different than the Decepticons, to the Black Knights that were affected due to her empire's actions, to even other members of her family like Euphie and Cornelia]].
* ''Fanfic/DustAndDecepticons'' features a {{Downplayed|Trope}} example with Team ROZE. Rosalyn, Opal, Zephyr and Esmerelda each parallel members of Team RWBY, and are considered to be the best Huntress team that Atlas has to offer... but unlike RWBY, the four of them never truly overcame their early issues, which comes back to haunt them when they suffer TheWorfEffect at the hands of the disguised Stunticons.
* ''Fanfic/InfinityTrainBlossomverse'':
** [[Characters/InfinityTrainBlossomingTrailChloeCerise Chloe Cerise]] from ''Fanfic/InfinityTrainBlossomingTrail'' is a more bitter and spiteful version of [[Characters/TheOwlHouseLuzNoceda Luz Noceda]] from the ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse''. Both are outcasts, isolated and bullied by their classmates due to their interests being seen as weird. Both enter a new world, with Chloe entering the Infinity Train and Luz entering The Boiling Isles; both find acceptance and friends in the new world and prefer it to the old one. What separates them is attitude: while Luz is implied to be afraid of her peers due to their bullying, with her mother as the sole connection she retains to the human world, she remains a kind, forgiving person who wishes no ill will upon her former classmates. Chloe, despite having a similar connection to her little brother, is angry and spiteful towards her classmates and parents, refusing to forgive the latter for their mistakes. Eventually, this has tragic consequences for everyone back in Vermillion City.
** ''Fanfic/InfinityTrainSeekerOfCrocus'':
*** [[Characters/InfinityTrainSeekerOfCrocusChloeCerise Chloe Cerise]] initially serves as one to [[WesternAnimation/{{Wolfwalkers}} Robyn Goodfellowe]]. Both are girls who are an AllLovingHeroine who are stuck in a society in a role that they don't want. However, while Robyn is legitimately kind and misunderstood, Chloe only extends her kindness and forgiveness to those who are on ''her'' side, while throwing anybody who's against her under the bus. And while Robyn being an outcast is a result of different values where she's living, Chloe's outcast status is as much to blame on the city as it is on her, as her own refusal to own up to her mistakes, insensitive and self-centered nature, and penchant for violence when riled up enough caused people to see her as unapproachable at best and outright dangerous at worst.
*** Chloe also reflects darkly on the character of Penny from [[VideoGame/PokemonScarletAndViolet Scarlet and Violet]]. Both are introverted nerds who faced bullying problems that would ultimately lead the both of them to be taken out of school events, afterschool for Chloe and entirely for Penny, for their own healing. Both are implied to be from well off families, as Chloe's father affords a rather large research facility in a major city while Penny is hinted to be the paternal niece of the massively rich Chairman Rose. Both are fans of mass media and both have created longstanding problems in their wake after they left, and are often paired alongside extroverts they find exasperating at times (Ash and Goh in Chloe's case and the other main characters, particularly Nemona, for Penny). And while Chloe herself is not directly linked to Eevee, [[spoiler: her alternate self is]]. However Penny did not intend for Team Star to cause any problems after she left, and both set to save them from themselves while also doing what she can to clean up her mistake, a level of self-reflection Chloe has shown to be unable to muster as she handles her own lingering problems back home. Penny, while she also groans at her family's antics and the antics of Nemona, does not loath or hate them in anyway similar to that of Chloe to her own family and friends and would never desire to hurt them. Ultimately Chloe is who Penny would be if she actually wanted to have people, from her bullies to her friends and family, severely hurt and ruined.
*** Green Phantom Queen interprets Casimira as one for an archetypical Disney Princess with many a parallel to [[Film/{{Enchanted}} Giselle]] (Yuri even calls her an "urban Disney Princess wannabe"). Casimira is the "princess" figure who works with the vermin of a modern city and has a dream to rebel against the status quo, only for her methods to go into disastrous proportions. Instead of being cheered, a lot of people despise her. And her drive to succeed only boils down to how she wants it the most and she herself is sided by Palimpsest itself not because it ''understands'' her reasonings but because Casimira "wanted it more". She's also seen as smug and above all others because she thinks ''she'' is in the right.
*** [[Characters/InfinityTrainSeekerOfCrocusSaraDiktaylis Sara Diktaylis]] serves as one to ''Blossoming Trail's'' version of Chloe Cerise, of all people. Both of them are incredibly violent girls who have a lot of trouble just ''telling'' people about their issues, and who would rather [[ComplexityAddiction take incredibly convoluted]] ways of getting what they want rather than take the easy way out. Alongside that, they both end up [[ConsummateLiar constantly lying]] and spreading MaliciousSlander against those they believe have wronged them, all the while PlayingTheVictimCard in order to garner as much sympathy as possible. However, while BT!Chloe got a lot of CharacterShilling and admiration from the denizens who didn't know any better, Sara receives the kind of treatment someone with such a personality would receive in real life: becoming incredibly unpopular by most people, before becoming HatedByAll once the true extent of their malice and slander gets exposed.
* ''Fanfic/APossibleEncounterForAPhantom'': The Terakon at first appears to be a blatant {{Expy}} of Predaking in ''WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime''. Both of them are members of a long extinct race of dragons brought back to life via genetic engineering by the villains to use as a weapon. While some elements play out the same, the two are different characters. Predaking has no memories of his past life and was loyal to Megatron and the Decepticons out of gratitude, wanting his race back because he didn't want to be the only one of his kind. [[spoiler:Thirorex, by contrast, has his memories return and is in fact a sociopath with ambitions for world domination, and wanted the revival of his race to possess an army to make it possible.]]

[[AC:''Literature/ClassroomOfTheElite'']]
* ''Fanfic/ClassroomOfTheEliteLiquidInspiration'': Kiyotaka's father Atsuomi demonstrates what could have happened to [[Manga/KaguyaSamaLoveIsWar Shirogane Miyuki]] had he continued sacrificing his kindness and morals in order to pursue his ambitions ''and'' win over a LoveInterest that was completely out of his league... and [[DidNotGetTheGirl failed at the latter]], leaving him with only his desire to rule over Japan.

[[AC:''Franchise/{{Danganronpa}}'']]
* ''Fanfic/DanganronpaMementoMori'':
** Ren Kurusu is one for [[VideoGame/Persona5 Joker]], with both characters being raven-haired infamous juvenile delinquents, with the former's name even [[ShoutOutThemeNaming being derived from the latter's real names]] given in the anime and manga adaptations of ''Persona 5''. While the latter is a KarmicThief willing to do the wrong thing for the right reasons, namely to bring corrupt authority figures to justice, the former started off as a petty shoplifter who eventually became a PrisonEscapeArtist merely for his own personal freedom, with little regard for anybody else. [[spoiler:And while the latter has a strict ThouShaltNotKill policy towards his targets, who he tries to ensure properly deserve their punishment, and cares for his TrueCompanions, the former has no qualms about killing another student out of mere suspicion and attempting to get the others killed to save himself]].
** Kaiji Kudo serves as one for [[VisualNovel/DanganronpaV3KillingHarmony Shuichi Saihara]]. Both are insecure detectives that sport SignatureHeadgear, with Kaiji's appearance based off of one of Shuichi's beta designs. However, Kaiji's issues prove even more severe, forcing Kaori to take charge of the Class Trials, and while Shuichi's HeroicSelfDeprecation is usually aimed towards himself, Kaiji is far more willing to [[GreenEyedMonster be openly envious of others]]. And that's not even getting into how he [[spoiler:set up the Killing Game in hopes that some EngineeredHeroics would make him look more impressive for 'solving' all those crimes]]...
* ''Fanfic/DanganronpaParadiseLost'':
** Yae Hayabusa is quite similar to [[VisualNovel/DanganronpaTriggerHappyHavoc Sakura Ogami]], with both being talented female martial artists with silvery-white hair, and to drive the point home, Yae's physical appearance is an almost complete replica of one of Sakura's much more lithe concept designs. Unlike Sakura, who is a GentleGiant [[spoiler:and RegretfulTraitor who would rather kill herself than hurt others]], Yae is [[HairTriggerTemper prone to violence at the drop of a hat]] and has an InferioritySuperiorityComplex that results in her [[spoiler:beating Ringo to an inch of her life and ultimately getting herself killed by antagonizing Ayaka enough to cause her to brain Yae with a flowerpot]].
** Akihiro Garaki turns out to be one towards [[Anime/PokemonTheSeriesXY Clemont]]; both are precociously talented, yet scrawny boys [[ForScience devoted to the sake of science]], who wear glasses and have almost identical blond haircuts. But while Clemont is kind, polite, and would never think about harming anyone, especially his little sister Bonnie, Akihiro is far more condescending towards others [[spoiler:and shows absolutely zero remorse over both murdering Miyuki Nagasu and fusing his own sister with a lab rat ''à la'' [[Manga/FullmetalAlchemist Shou Tucker]] simply because he could]].
** With him having an almost identical hairstyle and hair color, alongside his elite status, jerkish behavior and childhood affection towards a RoseHairedSweetie, Junpei Ichikawa is rather similar to [[Manga/SpyXFamily Damian Desmond]]. However, Junpei's backstory of [[spoiler:witnessing his friend be beaten to death by Monokuma Kids during [[VideoGame/DanganronpaAnotherEpisodeUltraDespairGirls the unrest in Towa City]]]] asks the question of what could've happened to the JerkWithAHeartOfGold Damian if [[spoiler:Anya too died a violent and premature death]], and the end result is that he would grow up to become a raging StrawNihilist [[spoiler:perfectly willing to not only orchestrate a Killing Game [[AccuserOfTheBrethren to revenge himself on Monaca no matter how guilty she feels about it]], but also [[MyDeathIsJustTheBeginning deliberately provoke his own murder to kickstart said Killing Game and prove his worldview right]]]].

[[AC:''WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom'']]
* ''Fanfic/DannyPhantomStranded'':
** Jean-Luc Bevier, from the artwork of him shown, is based physically on Iknik Blackstone Varrick from ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra'', right down to similar skin tone, mustache, and purple color scheme, but he lacks all of Varrick's redeeming qualities. Varrick is an AffablyEvil man who is very energetic, holds no ill will towards the heroes despite past occurrences, shows he's capable of empathy, has an OddFriendship with NiceGuy Bolin, and genuinely loves his assistant Zhu Li before marrying her. By contrast, Jean-Luc is a stuck-up and vain man who looks down on the lower classes, only shows interest in attractive women regardless of their marital status, has an open disdain towards Danny specifically, and even if he does indeed love Stella, it doesn't change his attitude, to the point that Star wonders if he cheats on her.
** Colette Bevier is one of Cheryl Blossom from the Franchise/ArchieComics since they’re both redheaded (though Colette’s hair is dyed) RichBitch DudeMagnets that have a crush on the hero, are snobbier and richer than the local AlphaBitch, and can be very scheming and manipulative. But even at her worst, Cheryl has been a JerkWithAHeartOfGold with redeeming qualities such as a soft spot for animals, her genuine love for her family including her brother Jason despite their rivalry, and her close friendship with the resident nerd Dilton. Plus, Cheryl has lines she won’t cross since she never resorted to illegal means or harming others to get what she wants and becomes progressively kinder over time to the point she becomes friends with the Archie gang. Colette on the other hand is an outright evil sociopath with no regard for anyone but herself and maybe her biological parents, torments her stepsister Star for kicks, regards her younger half-brother Pierre as a pest at best, treats the resident geek Mikey as her personal HomeworkSlave, constantly harasses Danny for a date despite his blatant hatred for her because her SpoiledBrat nature makes her incapable of taking “no” for an answer, has little to no moral scruples since she’s willing to resort to threats and blackmail to get what she wants, and grows much worse over time as she becomes an increasingly obsessive {{yandere}} who is willing to ruin innocent lives without a shred of remorse just to win.
** Beatrice Traville is this to Victoria Everglot from the movie ''WesternAnimation/CorpseBride'', as they're both daughters of [[ImpoverishedPatrician impoverished noble families]] who were arranged to marry a wealthy, yet kind bachelor out of financial desperation. However, Victoria was a [[NiceGirl sweet and kind lady]] who genuinely fell in love with her fiancé Victor after getting to know him, whereas Beatrice was a SpoiledBrat, GoldDigger, and SocialClimber who only married Richard for his money and treated him terribly.
* Dash Baxter and Paulina Sanchez from Creator/Flowerprincess11's stories are this to [[Characters/MarvelComicsFlashThompson Flash Thompson]] and [[Characters/SpiderManSupportingCharacters Liz Allan]] from ''ComicBook/SpiderMan'', without their redeeming qualities or depths.
** Like Flash Thompson, Dash Baxter is a popular blond JerkJock who picks on the protagonist while ironically [[LovesMyAlterEgo admiring his superhero alter ego]]. They have very similar first names to top it off. However, unlike Flash, Dash never really grew out of being a bully. While Flash bullied Peter Parker throughout high school in the original comics and antagonized him in college, he matured and made peace with Peter, with them even becoming [[BullyTurnedBuddy friends]]. Even in high school, Flash showed depth when Peter got into trouble for fighting with him before graduation, as he privately admitted to the principal that it was his own fault after learning that Peter took the blame for what happened. He also had a FreudianExcuse of being [[AbusiveParents abused by his alcoholic father]], which caused him to act out. Dash, by contrast, had no such excuse and never made peace with Danny. In fact, he didn't care about Danny trying to help him despite their history. In his first appearance, Dash acknowledged that high school was the peak of his life, and it would all go downhill afterward, which eventually came true because he never tried to change his future. Meanwhile, Flash never resigned himself to failure and eventually had good adult life, becoming a hero in his own right.
** Paulina Sanchez is basically Liz Allan in her high school days, only Latina instead of white.[[note]]Amusingly in ''WesternAnimation/TheSpectacularSpiderMan'', Liz was given a RaceLift and became Latina in the show... with a striking resemblance to Paulina.[[/note]] Like Liz, Paulina is a mean, spoiled popular girl from a wealthy family (it was implied Liz was spoiled by her father in the comics) -- a typical AlphaBitch. She is the hero's first crush, but [[LovesMyAlterEgo only has eyes for his superhero persona while looking down on his civilian identity]], even ridiculing him with the JerkJock. Eventually, the hero gives up on her and moves on to another girl. The difference is that Liz developed genuine feelings for Peter in high school and began to tire of her boyfriend Flash's behavior before breaking up with him. She eventually grew into a more mature and empathetic person; at graduation, Liz admitted her feelings for Peter but acknowledged he wasn't interested in her and that his perception of her as a DumbBlonde might be true, but it was time to graduate from that part of her life. She said goodbye to Peter, wished him luck, and left with her parents. Years later, Peter and Liz met again and became friends. While Liz faced hardships in her adult life, she outgrew her high school self to become a successful businesswoman[[note]]Though TookALevelInJerkass after ''Brand New Day''[[/note]]. By contrast, Paulina continued to obsess over Danny Phantom and remained a ditzy bully. As an adult, she was unsuccessful because of her flaws and never left behind that shallow girl she was in high school.
* ''Fanfic/{{Growing Pains|DannyPhantom}}'': Helena is this for Emily from the movie "WesternAnimation/CorpseBride". They're both undead women who are obsessed with getting married, but while Emily is a genuinely sweet girl who only wants love, Helena is a shallow and nasty GoldDigger who just wants a rich husband that fits her impossibly high standards. There is also their reputation among their peers; Emily is genuinely well-liked by and on good terms with the residents of the Land of the Dead whereas Helena is very unpopular and disliked by the residents of the Ghost Zone due to her horrid personality and obsessive man-hunting.

[[AC:''Franchise/HarryPotter'']]
* ''Fanfic/EdenObsessmuch'': Lucius Malfoy fills a similar role to the titular beast from ''Literature/BeautyAndTheBeast'', holding a young girl prisoner in his manor until the two fall in love. However, unlike the Beast, he didn't undergo any kind of KarmicTransformation, and is holding Hermione hostage alongside Ron. Rather than changing for the better as he gets to know the girl, he grows increasingly obsessive, eventually [[spoiler:abusing, torturing, and raping her]].

[[AC:''WesternAnimation/MiraculousLadybug'']]
* In the YetAnotherChristmasCarol fic ''[[https://archiveofourown.org/works/27908860/chapters/68342407 A Miraculous Chrismas Carol]]'', Gabriel Agreste is cast in the role of Ebenezer Scrooge, sharing the same loathing for Christmas, strained relationship with his family, and a refusal to donate for charity. However, while Scrooge is motivated by an obsessive {{Greed}}, Gabriel is acting out of spite and frustration for his inability to defeat Ladybug and Chat Noir as the supervillain Hawkmoth and use their Miraculous to bring back his wife. Even how they undergo their three nights is reflected; Scrooge is warned by his deceased partner Jacob Marley to listen to the three spirits, while Gabriel [[HoistByHisOwnPetard undergoes his after akumatizing his nephew Félix into Christmas Spirit]]. Their endings show the final difference between both characters: Scrooge ultimately undergoes a full HeelFaceTurn after his tribulations and shows generosity to not just his employee Bob Cratchit and his family but to everyone around him, while Gabriel [[spoiler:at most [[PetTheDog makes thing right with his son along with his sister-in-law Amélie and Félix]], [[IgnoredEpiphany but he still continues his path as Hawkmoth even after seeing his future defeated and imprisoned]], if only to avoid the BadFuture or the truth that his son is Chat Noir]].

[[AC:''Franchise/MyHeroAcademia'']]
* ''Fanfic/{{Cain}}'': Despite the fic being a one-shot, Katsuki Bakugou's [[SlowlySlippingIntoEvil gra]][[SanitySlippage dual]] [[ProtagonistJourneyToVillain descent into villainy]] makes him a corrupted caricature to a couple of characters that inspired the canon ''My Hero Academia'' manga:
** Of Tetsuo Shima from ''Manga/{{Akira}}''. Despite not being a hero by any stretch of the definition, even with the anime's AdaptationalHeroism, Tetsuo is still far more sympathetic than how Cain!Bakugou is, especially regarding his DarkAndTroubledPast as an orphan abandoned by his parents and bullied for his meek behavior by the other kids, and, even at his worst, [[spoiler:he would never kill (or truly bring himself to kill), his BestFriend despite his deep feeling of inferiority towards him, and manages to reconcile with the Kaneda before he AscendToAHigherPlaneOfExistence at the end of his series.]] In contrast, Cain!Bakugou never had to struggle while growing up as Tetsuo did and his friendship with Izuku was [[FairWeatherFriend only fair weather]] [[WeUsedToBeFriends before turning animosity]] [[PrivilegeMakesYouEvil after years of being lionized for the most asinine things]], [[ControlFreak and spend over a decade as]] a BarbaricBully [[ControlFreak ensuring Izuku's eternal misery]]. The moment Katsuki finds out that Izuku is being chosen by All Might to become his successor, [[SerialEscalation he pulls nonstop by escalating his harassment of Izuku to outright physical and psychological torture for nearly the entire fic out of a combination of self-righteousness, sadism, bigotry, narcissism, and delusional paranoia]] [[spoiler:[[JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope before he eventually decided to murder him (and failed)]] and is on his way to becoming Izuku's (and by extension All Might's) ArchEnemy and as a potential [[GenerationXerox All For One 2.0]] in the unforeseen future]].
** Of Naruto Uzumaki from the [[Manga/{{Naruto}} series of the same name]]. On the surface, the two of them share many similarities regarding their [[JapaneseDelinquents physical appearances]], [[HotBlooded personality]], having [[PitbullDatesPuppy parents of differing temperaments]], natural talent in power and fighting, [[ToBeAMaster lifelong goals]], and even sharing similar sounding names in a reverse order. However, Naruto suffers a DarkAndTroubledPast from being scornfully isolated (at best) for something that was out of his control, is a very empathetic and loyal friend to those he loves, constantly reaches out to [[RivalTurnedEvil Sasuke]] despite the latter's repeated (and many times lethal) rejection and succeeds, and achieves his lifelong dream of being Hokage at the end of his story. Similar to the above example, Katsuki lived a life of privilege with nearly anything handed him on a silver platter (though he does put in the effort to earn them), leaving him with an incredibly huge, but fragile ego who would so much as harm and eventually screw ''anybody'' who contradict his desires and worldviews, even his own loved ones. He also constantly bullies and tortures Izuku throughout the fic, despite getting '''more''' chances than he justifiably deserves to think otherwise of Izuku's true intentions. [[spoiler:Finally, Katsuki destroys his own life by the end and is implied to be on his way to becoming one of the worst villains in Japanese history.]]
*** In addition, Cain!Bakugou is also a corrupted caricature of Naruto's AlternateSelf in the anime-only WhatIf arc, ''Jiraiya Shinobi Handbook: The Tale of Naruto the Hero'', where Naruto's parents didn't have to sacrifice themselves to stop the Nine-tail fox's rampage.
** If Izuku is a counterpart to [[SpiderManSendUp Peter Parker]], then Cain!Bakugou would be [[Characters/SpiderManSupportingCharacters Eugene "Flash" Thompson]] if you stripped away all of his sympathetic qualities and make him notably unhinged, or if you take Flash's [[ComicBook/UltimateMarvel Ultimate]] and [[Film/SpiderMan1 fi]][[Film/TheAmazingSpiderMan lm]] counterparts' {{Jerkass}} traits and [[SerialEscalation dial them up by eleven]], or, more horrifyingly, if '''[[Characters/MarvelComicsSpiders Carl King[=/=]The Thousand]]''' is more intelligent and popular. Also, given the fic's futuristic setting, the CainAndAbel dynamic between Katsuki and Izuku, and the escalating paranoia-fueled animosity the former has for the latter, we can add in some characteristics of [[ComicBook/SpiderMan2099 Kron Stone]] in Cain!Bakugou for good measure.
* ''Fanfic/MyHeroAcademiaMechanicalGreen'': The original version features the Paranormal Syndicate, a group of villains based off of the Villain Team in ''Fanfic/HeroClassCivilWarfare'', with several sharing the same code names and [[spoiler:literally being {{Alternate Sel|f}}ves of the characters in question]]. But while the Villain Team in ''Civil Warfare'' were only roleplaying villains as part of a school exercise, the Paranormal Syndicate are full-fledged villains with none of the morals of their counterparts.

[[AC:''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'']]
* ''WebVideo/MyLittlePonyTheMentallyAdvancedSeries'' constructs its entire cast from this premise, taking the canon cast of the show and cranking their flaws up to eleven, either for comedy, drama, or [[{{Dramedy}} both]].
** Twilight Sparkle in canon is a bit of a control freak with insecurities over her own abilities, who looks up to Celestia as a mentor. MAS Twilight is a bitter OnlySaneMan who thinks herself superior to the others for her intellect and magical abilities, and is ''terrified'' of Celestia after years of being traumatized as her student.
** Rainbow Dash can be a slacker and TheDitz in canon. MAS Rainbow Dash is an idiot who can barely do her own job, can't keep an insurance policy because of all the accidents she gets into, can barely stay focused on the same topic for long enough to finish a sentence, and can't read.
** Rarity in canon is a diva, but genuinely cares for her friends and represents Generosity at the end of the day. MAS Rarity couldn't give a damn about anyone but herself, and is self-absorbed to the point of being racist against other pony kinds.
** Fluttershy is a doormat in the first few seasons, but gradually learned to stand up for herself with help from her friends. MAS Fluttershy is so horribly mistreated and overlooked she can barely stand to live with herself, and is so forgettable that most characters can't even bother to get her name correct.
** Pinkie Pie can be neurotic and a bit of a {{CloudCuckoolander}} in canon, but ultimately is defined by how much she loves to make other people laugh. MAS Pinkie ramps up her neuroticism to become an outright fanatic who must know where everyone lives and what they do, and insists on constantly throwing parties that only the rest of the cast ever show up to. Otherwise, she has a completely warped idea of 'fun', and enjoys causing pain and misery to those around her.
** Luna, in her first few appearances before CharacterizationMarchesOn, could be a little dim on social cues due to her exile on the moon. MAS Luna, perhaps in part due to being MAS Celestia's sister, feels the need to be involved in social gatherings and casually threatens those around her with her immense power when she feels she is being left out.

[[AC:''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica'']]
* ''Fanfic/TheSoulmateTimeline'': Akasuki Suzumebachi is technically an EvilCounterpart to three different characters (Mami, Kyoko, and Homura), but in terms of outright design she's meant to be this to Mami Tomoe. Both of them are veterans who take young girls under their wing to help them find wishes and train them as fellow Magical Girls, both of them are {{Improbable Weapon User}}s (Mami with her ribbons, Akasuki with her finger ring), and both of them are close to Kyubey due to their actions. However, Mami genuinely wants to help others while addressing her crippling loneliness, believes wishes should be thought through, does her best to prepare possible apprentices for the tough life ahead of them, and she has no idea about the AwfulTruth about [[AndThenJohnWasAZombie the connection between Magical Girls and Witches]] or about the true depths of Kyubey's manipulations. Akasuki meanwhile not only knows all about the AwfulTruth and Kyubey's actions, she's a SerialKiller who fools impressionable girls into making contracts, mentors them only long enough to form a bond of trust, and [[TreacherousAdvisor then exploits that trust to take control of their bodies]] with her magic, upon which she mentally breaks them until they turn into Witches she then kills for their Grief Seeds to keep on living. Kyubey appreciates Mami for being an inspiring paragon for Magical Girls and Akasuki for being a reliable farmer of Grief Seeds, as both of them play a great role in harvesting the energy for the Incubator's fight against entropy. [[spoiler:Fittingly, it's Mami who ultimately kills Akasuki.]]

[[AC:''WesternAnimation/TotalDrama'']]
* ''Fanfic/MonsterChronicles'': Cedric von Túfeice is a dark and more dangerous version of Dr. Facilier from ''WesternAnimation/ThePrincessAndTheFrog''. Both of them made a deal with a loa for power, and both of them wore suits and hats. The difference is that Dr. Facilier is a ConMan looking to become rich, while he HatesRichPeople and is looking to take all the souls of New Orleans, he's also looking to live comfortably as a rich man. Cedric, however, is a SerialKiller that loves to cause mass destruction; he is also a MisanthropeSupreme that is looking to end the world because of his hatred for humanity.
